    love this. learning a lot, especially when talking ranges and variance.

    • @id10t98
      @id10t98 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just say bad luck. Variance is a BS term made up by "poker pros" to try and explain why their opponents hit 1 and 2 outers over and over again to beat them.
      The theory of randomness means you may never win the lottery even though you buy tickets on a religious basis while some person who buys twice a year hits both times.

    What I have noticed from watching the Old School vs New School and reading Modern Poker Theory is that back in the day poker players would BET to "find out where they are at" and in modern poker theory you don't need to do that. You know where you are at based on there range vs your range and flop texture. All the betting being mainly to build or control the pot, with a side-effect of it all being that any bet, or check, narrows both there and your range.
    The counting of combo's really only happens when you get additional information from a bet and board texture. So player X is betting Pot on a board Texture of Y with an opening Range of Z.
    Player X opens top 15% of hands with a liner range... flop comes AKQ or AXX... we know that board hits his range HARD, where as a 457 doesn't and depending on our position that might be a good board for us to bet whether we got anything or not. We could have J9 on a 457 vs UTG from LP and we should be betting. We have dick in hand but our RANGE doesn't have dick in hand but there range does on this board.
