    This is my favorite game. My strategy going into the game is rarely the same as that in the endgame. Gotta constantly keep reacting and planning.

    A fellow Redditor mentioned that "Research Outpost" is a great card with a science tag that could be played at the start of the game. So there are exceptions for sure. ;) As he mentioned: "Science is great for getting cards and discounts, but can be expensive to play early when you need money."

    I'd add an addendum to the first couple of tips here: You should consider your opening hand holistically - the cards interact with each other. Mars U, for example is an amazing science card to take early in the game as it gives you a huge amount of card filtering throughout the game. If you have a couple of science tags in the opening hand with Mars U, I would say it's good to push science. If you have AI Central in your opening hand, you should definitely strongly consider pushing towards it.
    Similarly, there are some 'late game cards' which are perfectly fine to take and hold in the early or mid game. Ultimately keeping a card you know you'll play later is only costing you 3MC, and you can get that back hugely by having the correct cards at the correct time. Examples would be things like Nuclear Zone you don't want to play early, but are hugely useful for blocking opponent moves later in the game whilst upping your TR.
    Finally, I'd say that you should consider your corporation as part of your strategy. Inventrix will draw three cards at the start of their first turn giving them a leg up on Planner milestone. That means you might want to consider keeping more cards from the opening 10 than you otherwise would. UNMI pays 3 to up it's TR every time you up your TR in a turn - so you want to be playing very low-to-the-ground and getting as much TR banked as possible very quickly.

      Awesome advice! This is what makes the game soooo good - you have to think about and consider so many things and it never get boring because of it.

    Thank you for tips ! I play solo game from France. I haven't won in 5 games yet.
    Do you have tips, for solo mode?

    • @BoardGameHangover
      @BoardGameHangover  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Glad you enjoyed it! It's important that your cards work together in one system. So don't just buy cards that you like, but think about what cards would compliment the ones you already have. In other words, try to optimize what you build.

      I'll necropost. In solo you just don't buy any cards that do not terraform. Use standard projects, asteroids, plant production etc. If you manage to get the Standard Technology card (3 MC cashback), it will help a lot. Forget about money production in solo because you'll get the money from your TR, and you don't need to spend it on cards in most cases.

    Engine building is heavily favored in 3 and 4 player games. (Probably 5 also but not too much xp with that)
    Drafting cards makes it even better.
    We added a lot of corps and cards that make playing on map stronger and we don't draft so now it feels quite balanced.
    (And because engine building is so strong then everyone will try to do it and the games get long. And in long games players who build on map - raise heat/O2/oceans have 0 chance of winning. This basically forces everyone to play engine and grab some points on map when opportunity presents itself)
