The best thing about your channel guys, is not the amazing projects that you do, but the positive vibe you give off. Humble attitude, always smiling, and joking around. And I know it isn't always easy, but you know what? when you upload a video, you make my day better. Thank you so much guys.

Why are these builds so cool? They're a series of things that a DIY person can do. It makes things like brake replacement approachable and encourages people to make mods according to their own appetite and capability.

The OEM toyota headlights have that gap too. Supposedly it's supposed to allow water to flow around the fogs and keep them clean, which is does, but it still looks kinda ugly lol
Also, that looks like a JDM OEM bezel that they sent you. The north American FR-Ss were never meant to have fog lights, so the bezel that comes with our cars has different clips to attach them to the bumper. I ordered my fog kit from Toyota and it came with little adapter clips that made the bezel fit flush. Idk if you can even find them without ordering an entire factory kit, but I hope that helps!

Just want to say that I appreciate that you guys are honest about products and even honest about reactions when the quality may not be bad, but when you install something and it doesn't quite look as good as what you may have had pictured in your head. Also, my vote goes towards the second set of lug nuts.

Those rusted brake calipers are now super ugly looking behind those cool rims..
So, my advice : nice red paint (for brake-calipers) lasting at high temperature should do the trick and will make them rusty shoes pop much more cooler ! ;0)

  • @ssaxmanful
    @ssaxmanful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

This build is awesome. I’m nitpicky but I don’t think the color of the wheels goes well with the red. I think white with white vinyl accents somewhere like the roof could make it pop more. Also wish you went with traditional rally oversized circle lamps on the front instead of the pickup truck bro style of the light bar. I will admit the sleekness and stealth hiding of the light bar was we executed. For the lugs run them closed style. There’s a reason open style aren’t really used anymore on oem cars

  • @magnetic0314

Each to their own but those long lug nuts are extremely practical especially doing frequent wheel changes.. more surface area for the socket and in an emergency you can even use a spanner to crack em loose

Similar look to my lifted STI hatch on A/T tires. I expect you'll have the same issue I do (running 225/55r17 Falken Wildpeaks on mine), which is it will touch the front mudflaps when you turn. Mine juuust rubs one of the screws on my mudflap at a certain turn angle so it's annoying but not a major issue.
To complete the safari spec you need a full size spare mounted on the roof though!

closed end lug nuts look much better. Not only do they look better, but they help keep water and salt from getting into the threads of the wheel studs. I have tried both on my daily driver honda and the closed end design is by far my favourite. I will never consider an open ended one again

Warming up an engine is a hangover from when they had carburettors. You needed to warm it up long enough for you to be able to push in the choke or the automatic choke to turn off. If you didn’t warm it up to that point the engine could stall out when you try to move off, also you could forget to push in the choke causing many other issues.

I just found out a few days ago, the upcoming 2022 86 has some significant engine improvements (2.4 now, more and lower-down torque, fixed torque dip, etc.). Supposedly, it's now faster and peppier than even the ND2 Miata, which was touted for being very peppy, quick and torquey.
I was very attracted to the ND2 Miata (appearance and peppy'ness), if something ever happened to my Ap1 S2k... but now, I think I'd rather get the 2022 86, mainly because I like coupes/hardtops much more, and also bigger size, and more trunk-room with folding down rear-seats.

Great build guys, love it. I'm really not liking the tire choice though. I know Conti is a major sponsor (props to them) but in some cases I think staying true to the design goals is important. Why not give another awesome local shop a chance at this, give FourStarMotorsports over in Georgetown a shout. They can hook you up with real rally tires such as the Pirelli P7 Corsa Classic's. Cheers and hope to see you guys at the track this summer!

The seasonality of a climate like ours (I'm generalizing - Canadian's know that there's quite a variance in what winter is like across the provinces) really is an interesting topic when it comes to oil. There was a pretty big "if" there, mentioning only a few cycles through the oiling system was enough to start driving, IF the weighting is correct. And there's the catch. I would fall over in shock if your typical Jiffy Lube, CDN Tire or even the dealer would instinctively put a lower cold weight oil into a vehicle when they're doing changes in the fall. I'm sure they're non discriminately pumping in 5 or even 10W 30/40 into everything that rolls through at all times of the year. Even as a car enthusiast that maintains the household cars, I don't stock multiple weights and stick to oil change schedules based on season. For those of us that see -40 in February and are forced to park outside. Neat topic.

with tired and worn out springs and struts i would be worried what would happen if you hit a sizable bump in a road. with how tight it is i would be worried it would just rip everything right off. my idea was that the wheel was a size too big, maybe go down too a 16 and keep a tall sidewall. thats usually what i see done to minimalize/avoid cutting

Hmmmm.... You guys are dipping into the rice zone with this one... Aftermarket head and taillights, light bar and license plate that blocks the air flowing into the radiator. Not that I'm against changing the head and taillights but IMO the best best is the BRZ headlights and the newer 86 taillights. But hey I still love the content and been watching since 50k subs so just keep doing what your doing!
