The crashing was caused by my setup and had nothing to do with the mod itself.
Please see the description for the mod load order that is working for me.
The problem was that I was using other mods like UIExtender and Butterlib, among others. The Old Realms is best used with only Harmony (v2.2.2).
It is funny, that since I started using UIExtender and Butterlib, the game has become more stable and has less crashes haha

Necromancy is so good on this mod definitely recommend for your build you literally summon undead soldiers in mid battle if you are low on troops or outnumbered
To fix most of the crashes, make sure you have the correct version of Harmony 2-2-2, version 2-3-0 causes crashes,
also to cut down on loading times make sure you build the shader cache in the main menu it takes about 20-40 minutes the first time but after that its only about 1-3 minutes
and on the case of your other mods, they shouldn't be causing problems, if you still have crashes after this ^ I'd recommend removing Super Speed
The loading times are happening before I even get to the main menu unfortunately.

How to build the shader cache in the main menu?
im using harmony 2-2-2, and still got alot of crash, mostly on tournament and siege battle, sometimes on world map too

@@botmushin8878 Correct! That is why i recommended removing it due to potential crashes caused by keybind overriding

That's unfortunate with the crashes, I haven't had any with pretty much the same mod setup.
Two pieces of advice should you be able to continue: get skeletons from a graveyard, they (and the units they level up into) require neither wages nor food. Same goes for Ghosts that can be summoned at Hel Fenn and Hunger Woods (both located in the north of the vampire territory).
The other thing is, once the initial wars died down, nothing happened in my campaign. I had to load up Diplomacy to get any wars going between the factions. I assume that's because everyone is at war with numerous minor factions, which might prevent rulers from wanting to go to war against a major faction.
What’s the difference between a vampire and necromancer in this mod? are they both the same for raising undead units?
I’m playing a necromancer and I noticed in addition to raising from graveyards I also get a bunch of skeleton units after each battle, very handy for the early game which is brutally tough in this mod.
That said be careful raiding graveyards…very first time I did it I got a crime rating in Mousillon because the city watch found me. Still had a crime rating even after winning the battle with them. Not sure how to get rid of it either lol
@@Marchochias I think you get some powers unique to the vampires if you choose to start out as a vampire instead of a necromancer, and I imagine that a necromancer gets something different also.
Its so hard for me not to play as vanpires in this mod they are just so cool!

I remember the series where you played skaven in the warband mod, that was so fun to watch hopefully Bannerlord will eventually get to that point
The Skaven will be added into the mod. There are even Skaven in some of the loading screens, which implies the modders will add them at some point. But probably as one of the last factions. I feel the next factions we'll see added are the Dwarfs(some of the dwarf holds are already dotted across the map's mountain ranges), followed by the Greenskins(Orcs and Goblins, possibly the Hobgoblins as well), and then Beastmen. The Wood Elves might also be added in the next major patch, as well as the rest of Bretonnia added in, and the rest of the Empire of Man, perhaps even Marienburg.
After that, then perhaps we might finally start seeing some of the Skaven. Kislev will also be added, probably alongside that of Norsca and the Warriors of Chaos.
That same mod (Warsword Conquest) just had their orc update!

Well, if you can get this to work, try to play as Equal Opportunity Employer. There's something about showing off all of the unit types.
Also, should you get a party of 5+ Companions, Family Members, or Allied Lords in an Army, keep in mind that when it comes to Unit Formations 5-8, the commanders of those units are to be placed on the Right side of the box - the unit boxes are mirror images of the ones on the left. Basically, if the portrait looks small, it's in the wrong box to be a Commander, as it were.
Reason is this - each box has 2 boxes inside - one is for the Unit Commander, and the portrait for them looks big. The bigger box is for Heroes in the Unit - basically, it says Joe Shmoo is traveling in the unit, but isn't in charge of the unit - and their overall images will be smaller.
Something to think on.
Waiting abit more time before i attempt to play this mod its hard to wait but as you can see its just abit painful to play right now but very very looking forward to dive in, but enjoyed your vid like always

Btw, I am using UIExtender and Butterlib but it doesnt crush that much (usually, happens, because I have not that good specs for my pc and many units are on battlefield). Rarely hapens. Better time and MB Super speed works for me. You can try it too.

Reformist is famous for being rather lazy with his character's appearance. He always settles for a certain uniform long haired mustache look(very few exceptions) because he prefer to jump into the gameplay instead.
It's a look reminiscent of the original Barney. A little nostalgic for me!

By default it is "alt".
I think I'll play this when a crash doesn't automatically cause a 20-30 minute commitment to get back into the game. It looks incredible and the people creating it are clearly very talented, but this cake isn't even ready to go in the oven, let alone be eaten imo. Can't wait though, even these little glimpses we get to see are amazing. It really does look like an official addon being made by a fully funded development team, not a bunch of fans doing stuff cause they feel like it. Chefs kiss to the group making it, ya'll are madmen and I love it!
I’ll provide an update on whether I can reduce the loading time to get to the main menu by following some of the mod team’s suggestions. They also recommend not using any mods other than theirs to play the game.
There is a work around in our mod discord in the known issue channel for going around the long load time at the start. But it might not be ideal as it will require you to reload all vanilla shaders

@@stillcantbesilencedevennow An update on my 30 minute waiting times: There are no longer any problems with loading in to the game and I've only experienced 1 crash since following the steps provided by the mod team. So looks all good!

Btw, it's spelled orcs in Warhammer Fantasy, and only 'orks' when it's 40k. Something to keep in mind. ;) Originally, the way Games Workshop wanted to distinguish the orcs in Fantasy and in 40k was to name the orcs in 40k ''space orcs'' as an easier way to distinguish the orcs in 40k and those in Fantasy. That was back in the 90's and early 2000's I believe. Then they changed it to just ''orks'' instead, simplifying the difference.

My two cents on the crashing - it's Bannerlord. I know this because I bought the game at v1.1.5, and it crashes at least once an hour on a completely unmodded installation, even though I can run it on ultra. So I really don't think it has much to do with Old Realms, just buggy shit baked into Taleworlds' code at the moment. Given the pace that they move at, I've uninstalled the game temporarily because I needed more space for Baldur's Gate 3. 😂
Edit: I should also mention that the previous version of Old Realms ran flawlessly because it used an older version of Bannerlord (surprise!).
Enjoyed it while it lasted. Mods are terrific until they're not. I'd like to try this one for sure!
I fixed the crashes by following advice by the modding team. Basically this: Use Harmony 2.2.2, no other mods except The Old Realms. For more advice, I'd recommend their Discord. :)

looking at your Modlist when you have crashes then it is because of the other mods you use, we are not supporting other mods and a lot are not going well with things we have coded ourself, also it is known that ButterLib and UIExtenderEX causes crashes with our mod since some things they change we already change and that don't work together, the further the delevelopment of our mod will go the higher is the possibility that no other mod will function with ours unless the other mod authors make a patch for it, so please when you still have crahes just deactivate all other mods, since there is already only a small number that kinda works with our, but most still cause unwanted behaviors and maybe also sometimes crashes ^^

It is available on Steam. You only need Harmony.

DL’d this and excited to play, but worried about Mod compatibility. I love diplomacy, XP mod, and improved garrisons. Do you know which mods work with Old Realms and which do not?
Recommend joining The Old Realms Discord. As far as I know, the modding team don't recommend any mods except Harmony to run it. Hope you have fun! :)

It is a super cool mod, but even without other mods it crashes a lot. Can't wait for stability.
It’s takes about 30 -40 mins to load for me. My pc is a 17 with a 3060 Max Q
First couple times than now it’s about 5 mins
@@TheDdty you should use SSD. My first load was long too, but once all the shaders are compiled it takes only a few seconds.

I'd recommend joining the Old Realms Discord and following the advice there. It has something to do with deleting some shader files, they give you a step-by-step there. Hope this helps!

Did you try deleting shaders? There are step-by-step instructions to follow on their Discord.
Deleting shaders helped me to get into the game initially and onto the main menu so I could compile the shaders. Now it loads fast as normal.

The Old Realms Discord has a solution for it. It has something to do with deleting some shaders and they have a step-by-step guide on how to do that.

Once done with the shaders, it should load within a few minutes.

Mods Great but The shaders thing is a big negative thing.
It's fixed after following the instructions on the Discord server! Smooth playing, and little to no crashes.
