Good defense lawyer - he is giving it everything he has - and that is what a defense lawyer is required to do. It's a bloody tough job. But he has a bar that is too high to climb. I have looked for every possibility that Ross could have "truthfully forgotten" Cooper. It isn't possible. On a long drive? Maybe. But it was a 5 minute drive. Tragic. Horrific.
Christine Camley: I agree. He actually “forgot” Cooper within the first 40 seconds after strapping him into his car seat - the length of time it took him to get to the turning point to either go to the the daycare or to his workplace. A few minutes later he “forgot” Cooper again as he backed into a parking space with his face a mere few inches from Cooper’s head and having to look over him to see out the rear window. He “forgot” him as he chatted with a minor female and others mentioning his son. He “forgot” about him when he retuned to the vehicle after lunch and again when he entered the vehicle and it’s stench of urine and possibly even the sickening smell of cadaverine at 4:15pm. A few minutes later he suddenly “noticed” his son with a mere sidelong glance to make a lane change conveniently located close to a sufficiently busy parking lot where he could stage his grand performance as a soon-to-be child-death “advocate”. So I agree, his defense team did an excellent job despite having nothing but an empty transparent shell to work with. The Court, btw, has agreed to hear his conviction appeal on Dec 14 - 17 of this year, 2020, and could order a new trial...so it’s not over just yet.
@@rayray8687 Ross's biggest mistake was his interrogation and saying too much. The jury would of had a hard time watching it. I recommend The Hot Seat video by Matt Orchard, although even that is cut down significantly.
Nao Yoshikawa: I agree entirely, Ross Harris virtually hanged himself with verbiage. I watched the entire interrogation, the police body cam video and the courtroom transcription videos, sometimes more than once. He made a number of incriminating moves during his interrogation, for instance when he was asked where he parks at his workplace - a very simple and straightforward question - he clams up immediately, becomes visibly confused and worried and then sighs relief when the detective gives him a couple of easy answers. Then of course there’s his admission that it’s his dream to become an “advocate” for prevention of child hot car deaths, a subject he’d researched extensively. But still his biggest mistake is the same one made by most murderers - they think the detectives, the jurors and the rest of us are stupid.
I think the defense attorney is a cockney, unprincipled child. He’s also a weasel, somehow managing to get the arraignment hearing, to show probable cause to bind Harris over for trial, moved up by several weeks without telling the prosecutor, an incredibly cheap shot, forcing the State to throw charges together in order to make the hearing. His behavior, especially during sentencing, showed a petulance I couldn’t believe. He refused to stand to speak to the judge, prompting her to have to order him to stand when addressing her....what adult man _DOES_ that?? A real Napoleon Complex, personified!
