Hey mario if its not too much trouble, could you check the kv info and tell me the MFR date? For years we were told jasper v2 consoles are not jtagable, due to it being patched on CB version.
Makes me want to buy a Xenon for the sole purpose of JTAG-ing it. Both would be historical, and I do not the slightest care how hot the Xenon run. Even if I do have a RGH3'd Kronos/Jasper v2. Hardest part would be finding one running on a compatible JTAG dash - the oldest Blades unit I have is... a Falcon. 😳 Thank god I have several mainboards w/ LPT ports, and a bunch o' cold beers in the fridge 😅
@@MrMario2011 Agreed, came back to this post with a JTAG-able Falcon. Unfortunately one of the early ones (just when Zephyr started being replaced) so I'm not hoping it to live long but hey, it's gonna be fun. EDIT: Finally done. @MrMario2011 Hi! In my stash of console, I have a zephyr halo 3 console still on kernel 7371. The console have a weird history, I bought it from a guy in Ontario in 2014, not working of course, and the xbox originaly came from Brasil lol. There was a short in a usb port, essy fix. The dvd key is also corrupted (wont launch games) and I could kill two birds with one stone by making a jtag ( my first and probably the only one I’l do) . So anyway, should I do the xclamp fix on it , or it will do more harm than good as a preventive fix? thx
GrimReaper4383 If you have little to no soldering experience what I would do is buy a dead board off eBay/Craigslist and practice your soldering. Once you've gotten good you can go ahead and try a RGH2 on your personal board.
I thought my 360 was a jasper because it had a green sticker that said jasper on so It so I took it apart to see if it had a jasper motherboard but sadly somebody changed it out before I bought it
Why did they never come out with a USB soft mod method? You would think that it wouldn't be too difficult since you can update an Xbox 360 from a USB drive preloaded on a pc.
How in the world do you have J-Runner v0.3 Beta 8? :O Great content btw. Really enjoying your videos, your S-RGH Trinity video is really helping me even though I'm not using the Viper Dual NAND. 👌

I have two Jaspers and I would like to do JTAG or RGH on one of them. I already got my CoolRunner chip but I still need to get the programmer cable for it. Does the dashboard version matter to do JTAG and do you also have a link to a solid tutorial? Thanks!
I bought a dusty arcade jasper in the store for like 9$ I wanted to do some crazy mods on it (replacing the cpu from new Chinese cpu and such) when I came home I plugged in and it had a nxe dashboard , i was stunned I took a band backup and to my surprise it’s a jtagable console.
@@MrMario2011 I was looking for jtagable jaspers, I checked like 50 units + then I gave up, I then I bought this one to "swap the cpu" there are a couple of unprogrammed (all fuse lines are 0s) CPU in china compatible with xbox 360 jaaspers. long story short I bought and planned to send it straight to work station, luckily (for the xbox mobo as well :D) it had the exploitable CB. There are still so much fun and the xbox 360 doesnt feel out dated and still holds good in HD. The homebrew community is kinda lame compared to PS3 and the wii, but it is what it is I guess. I do have a ps4 pro, played with 5 titles only and to be frank, they are bad (in term of modding and homebrews since they are branded PCs in Sony or Microsoft Shell).
BenQ and Lite-on drives work across all phat consoles with no issues once you pair the DVD key to it, plus they're better drives. Some of the drive safety and compatibility issues will go out the window thanks to this being a JTAG, but I still try to set up my hardmodded systems the same way I would set up my flashed systems.
Booted my Falcon jtag for first time in long time. Xell didn't even have HDMI support last time I used it. Remember running Linux on it. But alas the nostalgia trip was short lived due to constantly system freezing. I fear my young self might have x clamp "fixed it" while I was in there.
Gene VanMeter That looks kind of complicated...I'm talking about a general fix to try first, could a carefully retightened x-clamp delete w/ fresh thermal paste be a viable sollution?
The irony for me is that I got an original Black Elite Xbox 360 and some games doesn't work when I use the official install method. For example, if I install Ninety Nine Nights 2, there are a levels where the game fails to recognize the disk because it's ready the data from the HDD instead of the disk drive. I tried to install El Shaddai and the game 3D engine glitches at the first scene. (The game is "running", but the 3D engine doesn't refresh anymore making it mostly sound-only with the rendered frame stuck.) Ironic isn't it?

really cool video, from "scratch" to jewel. 😀
did this year's ago it was good for 2 weeks then one night RROD! 😢 still have its remains in the shed... and a working slim proto on the shelf!
red faceplate with the black button would have been sick
Tonaskets can be JTAG-able? is this actually a Extra rare scenario or was it a CPU swap?
Hey mario if its not too much trouble, could you check the kv info and tell me the MFR date? For years we were told jasper v2 consoles are not jtagable, due to it being patched on CB version.
I just got a jasper for $25 (AUD) with the old blade dash (6717). I plan to try and JTAG it someday.
Would you sell it?
Makes me want to buy a Xenon for the sole purpose of JTAG-ing it. Both would be historical, and I do not the slightest care how hot the Xenon run. Even if I do have a RGH3'd Kronos/Jasper v2. Hardest part would be finding one running on a compatible JTAG dash - the oldest Blades unit I have is... a Falcon. 😳
Thank god I have several mainboards w/ LPT ports, and a bunch o' cold beers in the fridge 😅
I've never done LPT, thankfully. So nice having modern USB flashers
@@MrMario2011 Agreed, came back to this post with a JTAG-able Falcon. Unfortunately one of the early ones (just when Zephyr started being replaced) so I'm not hoping it to live long but hey, it's gonna be fun.
EDIT: Finally done. Falconstein is alive and kicking:
- JTAG'd 10/30/2007 Falcon mobo (w/ original Rhea, will probably get it replaced when I have the chance)
- combo of a Zephyr top + Elite Jasper bottom
- 20GB HDD for now (I have no big drives on hand atm :( )
- thermal RAM pads from a dead Radeon X1950 Pro AGP
- MX6 thermal paste
- slightly quieter Delta fan
- Lite-On DG-16D2S ODD that needs reflashing so I can pair it to the JTAG'd mobo
For the record, the dash I had predated yours - 6717 on mine. Used Picoflasher - didn't even think it'd work for JTAG!
2 JTAG Falcons. One was a towel trick console the other isn't. I got a dead board to practice on and a working JTAG :)
Also a R-JTAG Jasper and Trinity lol
@MrMario2011 Hi! In my stash of console, I have a zephyr halo 3 console still on kernel 7371. The console have a weird history, I bought it from a guy in Ontario in 2014, not working of course, and the xbox originaly came from Brasil lol. There was a short in a usb port, essy fix. The dvd key is also corrupted (wont launch games) and I could kill two birds with one stone by making a jtag ( my first and probably the only one I’l do) . So anyway, should I do the xclamp fix on it , or it will do more harm than good as a preventive fix? thx
Never replace the x-clamps.
MrMario2011 Alright !
I've always wanted to do this to my 360. But I'm scared to do it. Since I have the Star Wars model.
GrimReaper4383 If you have little to no soldering experience what I would do is buy a dead board off eBay/Craigslist and practice your soldering. Once you've gotten good you can go ahead and try a RGH2 on your personal board.
I thought my 360 was a jasper because it had a green sticker that said jasper on so It so I took it apart to see if it had a jasper motherboard but sadly somebody changed it out before I bought it
Never trust a sticker.
@@MrMario2011 I'll get a jtag eventually unless i can find a a jtag motherboard that's assembled and ready to go
Dude I'm seriously jealous. That is very hard to find.
Lucked out on having someone offer it to me, haha.
It's way too late now but, rattle can paint jobs can cause plastics to become brittle. That's probably why your red case cracked.
Since i'm a fan of u i subscribed
Why did they never come out with a USB soft mod method? You would think that it wouldn't be too difficult since you can update an Xbox 360 from a USB drive preloaded on a pc.
Is it possible to JTAG a 360 and keep the Blades?
Would be sick if I could play post NXE games.
How in the world do you have J-Runner v0.3 Beta 8? :O
Great content btw. Really enjoying your videos, your S-RGH Trinity video is really helping me even though I'm not using the Viper Dual NAND. 👌
Just nabbed it from the guides JoinTheResistance has on Se7enSins.
Hmm. Do you know what the difference is between 7 and 8? I always thought 7 was the last version but I guess not.
Jack Parker I mean if you go to The Weekend Modder on TH-cam he has a version of JRunner pre loaded with 17511 but I can't remember if it's 7 or 8.
XeX Grant it's 7 even though it has 17511. I finally completed my Trinity like a month ago
Jack Parker Than I don't know what 8 does lol. I've been doing this for a while until my crappy Weller soldering Iron died on me. Just cut a custom case and was about to install led's too.
Hey man! Nice video!
Just one thing, is Xbox 360 E models that have been released before 2013 JTAG'able?
RGH for Slim consoles, no JTAG.
Just took my old 360 out of storage and was wondering what board it had...on the back was a green sticker that said JASPER i looked at the other sign's and yeah my old 2009 360 is the best of the best
But i already own a JTAG slim with a Trinity board so i guess the Jasper will be a backup now
Good backup to have!
I have two Jaspers and I would like to do JTAG or RGH on one of them. I already got my CoolRunner chip but I still need to get the programmer cable for it. Does the dashboard version matter to do JTAG and do you also have a link to a solid tutorial? Thanks!
Mario helped me jailbreak my PS3, now he’ll be helping me JTAG my newly obtained Jasper Xbox 360 lol
Have fun!
Amazing find!
@@MrMario2011
I was looking for jtagable jaspers, I checked like 50 units + then I gave up, I then I bought this one to "swap the cpu" there are a couple of unprogrammed (all fuse lines are 0s) CPU in china compatible with xbox 360 jaaspers.
long story short I bought and planned to send it straight to work station, luckily (for the xbox mobo as well :D) it had the exploitable CB.
Congrats on the system, but why didnt you use the hitachi drive in it? I was skipping a bit so i might have missed a detail.
Thats a new one on me, i usually stick to whichever piece was manufactured in the good old nippon.
If only there was a Yamaha dvd drive in there, yamahas damn GD rom drives were bulletproof on the dreamcast.
49:40 : Max Payne 3 seems to be running, letme go head and even... Turn it on! Lol
You just killed my brain. Anyways, Nice video.
I have that exact 360 but on dashboard 17526 (newest)
*:(*
RGH 1.2 that thing.
Is there any jtag guides, and/or list of compatible 360 consoles
Plenty online, JRunner's guides still serve well.
I got a Jasper Jtag, GPU is on it's way out though :/
Great video MrMario!! I'd like to try this on my XBOX as i have the exact one. What are the diode values and the points your soldering to? 16:42?
1n4148 diode
And the console's there is core(white console) arcade(white) pro(white with crome tray) elite (black with crome tray last console )
I just picture Paul Walker when I hear your voice haha
Booted my Falcon jtag for first time in long time. Xell didn't even have HDMI support last time I used it. Remember running Linux on it. But alas the nostalgia trip was short lived due to constantly system freezing. I fear my young self might have x clamp "fixed it" while I was in there.
Gene VanMeter What are you _supposed_ to do? Is there a good fix for rrod?
lobmin I'd imagine a reball but the stress from the screw and washer mod might have done more damage.
Gene VanMeter That looks kind of complicated...I'm talking about a general fix to try first, could a carefully retightened x-clamp delete w/ fresh thermal paste be a viable sollution?
lobmin probably as a temp solution. I opened it today and it was a uniclamp mod. So many memories
(The game is "running", but the 3D engine doesn't refresh anymore making it mostly sound-only with the rendered frame stuck.)
Ironic isn't it?
i love that boot animation
Can you link the parts to do this
