my all time fav Lao dessert!!! when i was a kid i used to eat this a lot but now it's been so long because my grandmother is too tired to make it.. but now i found your video and will def try it out and hopefully carry on the tradition!! thank you for the recipe!!!
In the frozen section of KP international, Asian groceries/international I found pandan leaves. They were approximately $2.50, also they also had the pandan flavoring near dry tapioca.
My family favorite dessert and where you buy the pot for it and what size? I bought the wrong size it’s small! My parents do it old style by drilling the old big pot and and making hole smooth and came out perfect but I want to try the same one you use thanks
Quick question. Why do you mix up so much lime water and pandan water to throw half of it away? I have never made it before but I really want to try making it. Your direction is pretty straight forward and easy to follow but the amount of lime water and pandan water is really confusing.
@@SaengsKitchen when do you use it? Is it for when you want to make another batch? Or do you use a lot of water because you want the sediment to settle to the bottom of the pot/bowl? That would make a lot of sense if that is the case.
Saeng, great video! I wanted to ask if you are able to provide the amount of palm sugar in grams on the original recipe. I found a few variants of palm sugar in different block shapes and sizes. I was luckily able to find something that looked similar in shape from what you displayed in the video. I also think the flavor will vary in the Pandan leaves component if using by amount of leaves vs weight. I just don't want to miss out on any flavor. : ) I absolutely do not mean any disrespect by this comment, just something I think would be very helpful to us audience members. Thank you again for this video!
Brother Seng what is the right measurement for rice flour , lime stone, and water amount for the panda leave ? Example : if im making fro 12 people : 1 whole bag of rice flours , lime stone how much water? Etc. I’m confused. Love your vdo. Please advise thank you
@@SaengsKitchen I went to Hiep Thai here in Texas and they are Southeast Asia market, but I guess they do not have a vendor that will supply them with fresh pandas leaves. I love the aroma of panda makes miss home.
What other things do you like adding to your khao lod song?
Not every day you see a fellow Lao American. I absolutely love and appreciate this so much. I can make my favorites!!!😭😭

Legit bro! Just sub because you da man!
Saeng Douangdara anytime bro! I just share on my social media too! Let’s go!
is the limestone water that important because Ive replaced it with just water in other recipes like thai khanom chan but im not sure
I have read other recipes that you can use lye water which can be bought from the supermarkets, or baking soda solution as a substitue :>
Can I make this without slaked lime water? If so what are my substitute? More tapioca flour? Any tips would be helpful thanks.
I will try it sometime this week 😀
