Just to clarify my view point:
I think the Mace nerfs are fair enough, but I'm still a lil disappointed about it, especially the speed nerf like imo thats what sucks the most 😂
I don't really care about the nerfs, except the attack speed kind of ruined the hype. But if you think about it in irl, it makes sense because maces are very heavy to carry due to their weight.
I think the slow attack speed makes sense because it's meant to be heavy
The speed nerf is in my opinion great,its a good answer to people who just uses the mace everytime and not switching to your sword like its supposed to do

The 24W19A update is very controversial, that much is certain. A good amount of the community say that the Mace was nerfed heavily to the ground, and I agree with them.. But not for the reasons you think. See, I’m entirely on board with the Mace’s attack speed being slow, as it’s something crafted with the heavy core, an item that takes forever to break once placed.
Unfortunately, while I think this one change is a great positive, all of the other nerfs pile together to drastically decrease the Mace’s viability and worth. I think that’s why a lot of people dislike these nerfs, despite asking for some originally. It makes the Mace a niche weapon that doesn’t reward skill. This also decreases the windburst enchantment’s worth, as the Mace can’t chain hit effectively anymore. This all sucks, but i have a few ideas that can spice things up >:D
First off, buff the Mace’s base damage back to 7, and adjust the damage falloff to be much more lenient: the first 4 blocks fallen having 4dpb, the next 3 having 3dpb, and all following blocks having 2dpb. Second: buff the windburst enchant by making WB Maces have an attack speed of 0.9, and increasing the intensity of the wind explosion. This launches the player up higher, and gives them enough time to fully charge their Mace. Third: either make the player fall faster when holding the Mace, or nerf the base Mace’s attack speed to 0.6. Ik people are already mad at the speed nerf, but I believe that along with the buffs I offer this will balance the Mace in a unique way.
I believe these buffs will make the Mace a uniquely dynamic, powerful, and balanced weapon; one that is earned through rigorous trials, combat, and grind.
one idea that I saw was giving the mace 1.1 attack speed by default, but each level of density took away 0.1 attack speed. this would make a density 5 mace have 0.6 attack, which combined with my changes feels p fair idk
Honestly it’s still does crazy damage. Unenchanted the mace still kills almost anything with just one wind charge jump
yes but it can't one hit the warden, also some of the enchantments can't combine for the mace all 4 of them, now density 1 to 5 levels instead 1 block per level now it does 0.5 per level so 2.5 is the density 5,

OK. mace now does 5 attack damage now you can't wind burst yourself up, if there is more say it I think that's all,

Seeing people complain about the nerfs is CRAZY because the mace is STILL to OP
Like, a little bit of set-up when you wanna use it, and the mace is game braking-ly OP. It's crazy in PvP if you can use it good, it can one shot anything, and it has enchants that make it even more OP. Really annoying seeing people think balancing an OP item is the same as making it useless. Even after all the nerfs, it's still the strongest thing in the game.
For anyone who knows what balance is, they will know that what Mojang did with the deck with these nerfs is poorly done. Even wind loading doesn't help make it a viable option, it's no longer worth it. That is to say: take away everything you did to the maze and do it again but this time do it right.
I don't really think the Mace is still the best in the game. You could say it only needs "a little setup," but thay setup is super reactable to the opponent who has plenty of time to react to you wind bursting

Wind burst is just kinda useless now (i think)
Wind burst was used for having mace combos but now you won't combo them with the wind burst because your cooldown won't be even over while you are in the air
it doesnt activate based on the cooldown

I would have love that they embraced the plataforming possibilities that wind burst had, like adding reinforced armor stands, and make your own plataforming courses on your world but eh, whatever.
now the only good insentive of the dungeon are free oxidized copper and the annoying to farm wind charges.

Funny cuz I actually commented on a lot of videos wishing that the mace had lower attack damage and slower attack speed (I wished for 1.5 seconds). So happy it got changed cuz first of all, it just looks kinda goofy and I don't want it to overshine the diamond sword
not in bedrock i play on bedrock edition but it didn't get nerfed sorry java players
It does five attack damage meaning and only does 2 1/2 hearts every hit luckily a critical hit will do significantly more and jump hits are better in bedrock and bedrock does not have 1.9 combat and uses the good old combat system.

The mace is now easily the worst weapon ever in Minecraft. Even the crossbow is better than this stupid mace.
The crossbow is pretty good, it can act as a piercing assault rifle or as a shotgun (for Bedrock at least). The second worst weapon is the sword

This includes me which really liked the mace and it was the main thing I was excited for in this update now that the Mace is a mid weapon at best I no longer feel excited because the effort for the reward you get for getting the mace is now basically none and I doubt it would be that great in PVP maybe it would be nice to have as a companion weapon with breach but that is probably it probably it's only use is one big armor pierce switch to sword

It takes as long as to get a beacon! We know! But players in PVP need a chance to fight. The one with the mace can easily insta kill them. This would ruin so many PVP fights. Plus, the mace is still a very good tool. You don't kill a full netherite player by falling down under 15 blocks everyday.

you can do double damage in bedrock cause you can hit instantly as soon as you hit a critical hit
But you can't hold a wind charge in your off hand in bedrock

My first version of Minecraft was actually Java on version 1.4.7 my biggest gripe with Java at least currently is getting it to run well
I have a Acer Nitro 5 laptop which is pretty powerful and yet I keep getting lag spikes everytime I load a new chunk which is not unplayable but it is annoying
And maybe it is different across platforms but at least recently I do not have bugs on bedrock edition keep in mind I play on PC so it could be different across platforms the only bug I experience is the universal distance related bugs which I dislike with a passion
But with that being said I play Bedrock edition when I want to play a purely vanilla version of Minecraft Survival or Creative but when it comes to mods i play Java edition Bedrock also has worse redstone then Java but I am not good enough at redstone to really comment on that

Especially in such a large community of course different people are going to want different things, but honestly very few people were complaining about the mace when it was first introduced. Now people are complaining because it’s the headline feature of the annual update and now it’s virtually useless.

Secondly, there were a massive amount of people complaining about the mace being overpowered, if I could attach images on TH-cam comments, I would stick multiple screenshots here. A large amount of people after the wind burst nerf complained that 'They should nerf the damage, not the wind burst'. And here we are, with the damage nerfed, and player somehow managing to complain more about game design. Speaking of game design, people were also saying that the high damage of the mace was 'bad game design', and that a damage cap was needed. You're making me out to be fighting a strawman, when in fact I am criticising real arguments that people have made.
Thirdly, the mace is not "the headline feature of the update". The trial chambers are. The title of the update is the "tricky trials". Don't see any maces in there.
Finally, you stated that the mace is "virtually useless". Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but most people who say this haven't even tested the latest snapshot. The mace deals more damage than before from a small height, but has been nerfed from falling higher. It's still really good, and as KingBDogz said, "Mace, even with the nerfs, is easily the most powerful weapon in the game." What would you prefer, balanced weapon, or weapon able to one-shot players in maxed-out armour from four blocks up? I don't know about you, but I personally prefer a balanced weapon.
So If you haven't already PLEASE test the mace in snapshots, because TH-camrs tend to exaggerate these issues for content and clickbait.
