    Ive been using this for year and honestly the best feature is the lack of pockets, it provides a ton of room and nearly all of it is the main compartment.

    ihave to say, i love that you showed us how to pack! the best part of bag reviews for me and many i ask is seeing whats packed inside and what cubes/how much fits (it helps us imagine how we'd do it and more likely to buy) seeing the packing is even better then packing haha

    That thin strap was made mostly to pull the bag out of an overhead bin. The thicker top strap was for carrying. But if you wanted to carry it by that side strap you could get a piece of pool noodle or pipe insulation cut to the size of that handle wrap it around there and it would provide incredible padding about a dollar

    I have this bag and I really apprecciate it. My top reasons why I bought this is, that it has a lot of space while staying compact in size which is great for flying. Also I love the materials. And what was also very important for me was the weight of the backpack itself. There is almost no competition to this bag as far as I know (maybe I just didnt find any), because most of the backpacks that I liked apart from this, where too heavy, thus I'd loose weight capacity and I would only be able to pack less for flying.
    Small disadvantages: If you like a little organisation, it is not for you, so for example if you like to have dedicated pockets or places for a pen, keys and so on. It is more like a throw it all in backpack, great for packing cubes and a little tech gear. But for some this might be also an advantage.
    Also inside is very dark, so finding something often is not easy. I would really like to see a version with light fabric inside.
    But for the price it is definitely a recommendation.

    I travel several times a month so it has gotten some use but so far no issues. Since it doesn't have the level of rigidity of other more expensive bags I found I could cram in under the seat in front of me while on a plane .

      how "empty" did it need to be to be able to be squished under the seat in front of you? The airlines seem to recommend ~40cm as the upper limit, which this is I think 52cm?

  • @Whodunnit4eva
    @Whodunnit4eva 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    If not fully packed could you use this bag as your standard airplane backpack while still having a standard rolling carry on? Is the only requirement that it fits under the seat in front of you?

  • @darrelsilver76

    I notice the main shoulder straps are connected directly to the "quick access" opening. This is unique, as the shoulder straps aren't directly "anchored" to the pack itself, but on this large zippered opening. Does this create a weak point in design? As now when the pack is fully loaded, that zippered quick access is taking the load of the pack,and could act as a weak point? Thoughts?

    I have this bag and confused about the zips that can lock but the others that cant but still give you access to the locked compartment? I returned it as I wanted something smaller I could use as a day pack too, was a bit too big for that

    Does it stand up when you set it down? Or does it tip over? I’m wondering because of its unique trapezoidal shape. For onebag travel I set the bag down a lot and don’t want it to be constantly flopping over.

    They're generous with their measurements. This isn't a 40L bag, more like 35-ish. I also wish the straps were stowable. Otherwise this seems great for the price, and actually great overall.

    I don't know if this is a good question for a travel backpack, but would this backpack be okay for everyday use? I'm in postgraduate degree and always carry a pencil case, a plastic pouch, a sketchbook (art studies) and a laptop with its hefty charger, I suppose if I tightened the straps it would be much less bulky and meet these needs. My main concern would be its durability, given its daily use and Laptop protecrion, while also having a backpack for long travels like an all in one backpack.

      @@PackHacker2 I noticed the main shoulder straps are not connected to the load bearing structure of the pack, but to the quick access panel, then to the pack via the quick access zipper. This looks like once loaded the entire packs weight would be carried by that quick access zipper, that essentially attaches the straps to the substantial part of the pack. Do you know what I mean? Do you think this is would cause any issues?

    I’ve got this bag for few months now. Overall it’s a great minimalist bag but I don’t think this is a 40l bag. My Osprey 40l farpoint packs a lot more. For the price you pay £55 is a great travel bag.

    • @W1ndF4lc0n
      @W1ndF4lc0n 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Ostrey 40L is actually higher capacity than advertised, that's why this backpack might seem small in comparison. Though in reality the tomtoc is probably between 34-38L, which is standard shrinkage compared to advertised capacity with other backpack makers.

    • @danielpeti3885

      @@W1ndF4lc0n thanks for the info but at the end of the day when a product is advertised as a 40l backpack I expect the backpack to be 40l not 34.

      @@danielpeti3885 Of course, but unfortunately virtually 98% of manufacturers inflate the capacity number. The Osprey pack is one of the very few exceptions where it's the other way around. The tomtoc won't be significantly different in terms of capacity to other 35-40L advertised backpacks (based on comparing dimensions and calculated mathematical volume).
