On "My Car Story" we're in Rosemont IL on 3-9-22 at the World of Wheels Car Show.
We're looking at a 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Station Wagon in White Paint. The car comes with a 283 CI V8 engine.
The car's Owner is Michael Garcia. Michael’s had this car since 2021. Michael shares he’s always been a “Wagon Guy” and has had several station wagons. So when he was this one for sale, he knew he wanted it.

WOW! What a trip down memory lane! I was born in '57. In the summer of '63 Dad traded in the Black w/ White Top 2-door 59 Impala for a 1963 Impala 4 door wagon, 327, with the same color scheme as this one. It was the car I learned to drive in a few years later...MANY MEMORIES! Thank you both for sharing!

I once had a 1965 Chevrolet Belair four door post. It had a 283 V/8 with the two speed powerglide pushing the car. One thing I liked with the 283 is that it had hydraulic valve lifters so I never had to adjust them. I put almost 300.000 miles on that car! I took very good care of the engine because I was a mechanic, but the poor old body of the car was so rusted, I was afraid of falling through the floor while driving it. I ended up selling it to a metal recycling station. This was several years ago. I really wish I had never sold it. Your wagon is beautiful! Those cars were as good as it gets, and yours is a fine example of that!

283 engines were incredible. Low stress decent power. Reacts well to simple mods. Decent gas mileage. Good sound. Reliable.

What a great example of family station wagon. Not too big by 1965 Standards, but big by today's standards. Great chrome or brushed aluminum dash. Makes it look very rich. All in all, a perfect example of simiplicity for 1965! Thanks Lou. Another GREAT video.

My neighbor had a 1965 Chevy Malibu 4-door Sedan with the same interior as this car. He had it for many years beyond what was customary in those days. Malibus were always cool; I had a 2006 Chevy Malibu for about 15 years. I loved that automobile! Thank you for showing.

When I was 5yrs old my Dad bought a new 65 Malibu two door hardtop , red with red cloth, 283 3spd on the column, the same dog dish hub caps as this. Been my favorite Chevy ever since!

Nice looking grocery getter! That's one pristine wagon! I always loved station wagons, because my parents had a 1966 Impala station wagon, white with turquoise interior, equipped with a 283 2 speed Power Glide slush box automatic transmission. This 1965 Chevelle Malibu wagon is awesome!

Nice. In 1980 I blew the engine in my 68 Charger. I bought a 1972 Plymouth station wagon for the winter in N.H. I would fill the back with sand to apply on porches and sidewalks of the apartment complex and if I rolled the rear window down I could stuff it with lumber for my carpenter helper’s job.

That is a really cool survivor wagon!!! It is so cool to see the old school compass and the optional roof rack really pops on that car. Throw some surf boards in the back and hit the beach!!!! Smooth hauler!!!

In '66, my Dad bought a '64 Malibu wagon when i was 9.
Light metallic blue, 3 speed, 283. I thought it was great (the '56 4 door became my Mom's car).
2 years later, the engine starts acting up.
A friend found and installed a 327 out of a wrecked Camaro and set up dual exhaust. It was even better !
Sprung for a full upholstery upgrade in the early '70s. Yes, he dug it that much..
By the time he let it go in like '87, with all the trips to Oregon from The SF BA (we had land there), Sac/Auburn for family and Reno/SLT (well, you know), my Dad said the car had just over 300k on it. It still ran but he started complaining about retarding the timing in the late '70s. What a great car.

As a long-time car buff, my favs now are actually wagons, low-line cars, and the odd independant models. How many Camaro's and Mustang's can one look at! HAHA Anyway, a very nice wagon. Love the vintage sticker on the back. You can tell that car lived a pampered Cali lifestyle!

I remember my grandparents use to have an old 80's Chrysler station wagon. Or at least I believe it was a Chrysler. It was a metallic silver color. It had a third row seat. Some of my best childhood moments were in that seat headed to go get a soda an some ice cream.

Hi, Lou! A 1965 Chevelle wagon! ALL RIGHT! So very nicely preserved! BTW, I'm wondering if the third seat was an option, because although Chevrolet offered a 3-seat Malibu wagon offered in 1964, there was not one available for '65. I'm guessing the previous owner had it added on, since I see there is no underfloor space here. Another interesting note: there was also a 2-door Chevelle wagon offered in 1964-65, the only intermediate 2-door wagon any manufacturer ever built. It was quite rare, just 2,710 made for 1964 and 1,668 for 1965.

great car! This one remembers me my thirst car I bought when I had 18 years(44 years ago!). It was a 1964 Pontiac Tempest deadcar, just get out of service. Nobody wanted it, so I bought it very cheap. It was a great car, manuel 3 speed at the steering wheel. Had a lot of fun with it. It was a headturner, because it was in my "punkperiod", had my hair straight up, leatherjacked with special painting and the punkmusic full volume☠, man, that was a great time. Thanks for sharing!

Great video! Thanks for posting. The owner is incorrect about the 3rd row seat. The 3rd row seat in Chevelle wagon was only offered in 64. That option ceased & was re- released as an option again in 68-72 model years

He couldn’t come up with the name of the “new”Buick wagon his wife drives. He must mean the Regal TourX. 2018-2020 only. I own a 2018. So few sold, I have only seen 2 others on the road. I live in an area with 1 million plus people. I love the rarity of my Buick wagon!

I hated Powerglide, and it wasn't until 1975, that GM, was Powerglide free.

My nephew's got a cool 65 El Camino hot rod. Got the old school 383 with headers and all that stuff. Sounds extremely good. His teenage son has absolutely no interest in it.☹☹ in his son's defense, his son absolutely loves guns and his dad has no interest in them.

I'm in California and have lived on the beach most of my life. Be extremely cautious when buying a California car that has lived close to the coast. That salty air and Marine layer eats cars up.
