I hate when content creators come out with nice gadgets for everyone to see. In this case, the monitor. I checked Amazon a few minutes ago, and the monitor is $89 bucks, which is not bad, but wait, there's more is a $20 coupon? I was about to press that dreaded “Add to the cart” doodad when I decided to keep watching the video. Then I hated you the most when the two monitor settings came up. Crap, in a short video, you have shown me to add two monitors to my RPi400 and one monitor to my Macbook, not counting that I am going to check your battery pack in your other video. Just for that, you earned my subscription. Thank you, sir. Stay safe.
You could look at a pelican case. Maybe build a 7ah battery in the bottom. Then foam on top for the pi 400 and mouse and the monitor mount in the lid? Have a covered plug on the bottom to solar charge the battery
Pretty high quality - the only thing I could ask for would be some VESA mounting holes... but it wasn't designed with that purpose in mind, so I can't be too angry that it doesn't have them.
If I didn't just build a Pi for my AllStarLink Node I'd buy that 400. I'm still waiting for my Shari device. I'm gonna have to buy one of those KYY screens. They look nice and the price is not prohibitive.
Not counting the jacks for two monitors, my CrowPi is a full laptop that runs off of a Raspberry PI4. Sure the monitor is smaller on the CrowPi but still. It comes with a mouse and the ability to run two different operating systems with a click of a switch! (Before you boot) It's also good for Ham use because it runs on 12 volts. Just saying.
What makes this better than putting the pi in a display that uses 12v power, and having a wireless keyboard? This is nice, but for a go box or portable wouldn't a 12v powered pi combination be better? Just playing devil's advocate.
"better" is of course subjective. You won't get any argument out of me. I am on the lookout for one of those Pi Displays that is a decent size. This 15.6 is about as small as I want to go.
It has a matte finish, so probably better than most - but I'd be looking to use it under a pavilion at the park or in the shade just like any other screen.
Thanks Billy, its the Osmo Pocket 3. Only draw back is sometimes I forget to switch the mic from mono to stereo - my editor plays it in both ears, but youtube plays it mono... so I can't tell until its too late!
nice set up. all on battery . looking at that display. maybe I find a 4K like it or bigger. i got 4K on laptop 17 in. can support dule display . I did that before with my big TV 4K or projector at night camping. was fun. my mouse it up side down. Logotech track ball. girlfriend loves it. same USB . same buttons. just plug in solar panel and have a great off grid station. 73's
Soooo for $400 you could get a lot more computer... Like something you can play nontrivial video games on or a laptop that will blow the pi out of the water. Why the pi?

Welcome, you're among friends here.
Kind of reminds me of those mini laptops that used to be sold ~20 years ago. They disappeared when smartphones got ubiquitous.
I remember those!

The screen is the exact width of the case I have, but I'm on the same track as you.
Agree. I have 3 - KYY monitors, and have no regrets. They are usually available on sale. 73

Umm...when you unbag the cable, you first call it a micro USB to mini USB. My first thought was, "what?". Later you call it HDMI.
About 1:42
Oops. Wrong account.
yeah, I make mistakes sometimes - it is micro to mini HDMI
This reminds me, I have a pi 400 with octoprint on it doing printer things.. I should put octoprint on a different PI and use the 400 in a better way
I feel like the keyboard is an asset and a liability. I'm still thinking a go-box is the best solution for this machine. Time will tell.
If I didn't just build a Pi for my AllStarLink Node I'd buy that 400. I'm still waiting for my Shari device.

I haven't tried, but an allstar node with a dashboard screen has some value in the shack - at a glance info!
Maybe I missed something. I looks like you have stopped traveling and settled into a residence in WI?
Going through some logistics to get a bigger trailer. Details over on my RV Channel: www.youtube.com/@livingforalivingRV
Wonder how long before they come out with that in the pi5 platform?
I was thinking about that when I was making this video, No news as of yet

What are the power specs on the KYY wall wart?
5v 2.4a
Hey good to see you got more use out of that pi400 than I did. 😂
Still working on it... I've been carrying it around the country, time it started earning its travel fair!
@@temporarilyoffline Right!! Fuel ain’t cheap.

How does the little monitor hold up to sunny day?

For Sub $400, why not a mini PC. Lot of those are now 12V also which is a bonus. I do like the PI 400.
No argument from me, this is just the one I have currently. I'm interested in something a little more powerful than the Evolve... but not much really.
@@temporarilyoffline I have a video on it if you want to watch it sometime ;)
@@don_n5skt oh I saw it!
Great setup! If only the Pi400 KB had a touchpad you could get rid of the mouse.
Yeah. I'd use a wireless mouse or trackpad
Which previous video using the Pi 400 with the 705?
Sorry, it was using the batter with the 705. I have used a Pi3 And a Pi4 with many radios doing FT8, the 400 is more than suited for ham radio work.
Your camera quality is looking great.

I Can't wait till they make blueberry pi, great video tnx Man!
There is Orange Pi and Le Potato... can't imagine those taste that good.
Great video. How do you think this would work with 73Linux that Jason put out ?
Would work great!
@@temporarilyoffline Thank you
That pi in a keyboard needs a internal battery back up !
Yeah, that would be great - There has got to be room!

The Pi has a special place in my heart - and 13w ALL-IN is pretty sweet for battery portable radio operations.
