I just picked up the same cot on Facebook Marketplace for $80.00 and it was used for 5 nights for a temporary sleeping arrangement. I love it for that price, I find it hard to spent the 239.00 that REI wants for it new. As far as the legs folding under, I cured that with a few 8 inch velcro straps runnung from the top of the legs to the frame on one side of the cot. The biggest negative I have with it is that it dosen't have a carry bag, but don't let that from keeping you from buying one. It is truly the most comfortable cot I've ever had and with a self inflating matress it's heaven.
At that price, it is certainly worth it! I know mine was on a discount and I used my REI points, but yeah the normal price tag is hefty. That is why I refrained from getting it for so long. I just got a company memory foam mattress that I mostly use for car camping that I want to try on the cot. My kids have been using the cots this past week, and they said they slept well. Good tip for the legs. I figured that a solution could be pretty simple, thanks for sharing. Hopefully others see your comment.
Thanks for all the great info cuz I just got this exact cot! Original $200 price tag I got for $79 at REI cuz of a TINY cut in one of the rubber end pieces on the end of side frame. No interference with the workings of the cot, not a returned item a la REI Supply items...this is brand new! Love the cot...agree with all of the issues Knee Payne has voiced here but as he implies, far from a deal breaker. FYI one thing I was told it does that I didn't see in this vid is that you can raise the upper end to be like a lounge, say for reading, working, sunning...not talking about the extendable legs on that section (which I admit I didn't know about...thanks Payne!) If you loosen the large side "bolts" at the first joint, raise that to your desired angle and then tighten them back up, the back rest will stay securely in place like a chair back. Totally awesome cot!!!
Great review, the best one I’ve seen on this. I would have loved to see the cot in your 4Runner (I have one as welll) opened up as a bed. I am thinking of it for that use, and like that the head of the cot raises up. Are the other legs adjustable ?
There are a couple of videos already where people are using these as beds with 4th gens. I experimented with it briefly but opted to instead build a sleeping platform. I've only transported the cot to a campsite via the 4runner. Dropped the back seats and slid them in the passenger side and put two of them upright behind the driver's seat.
Great review sir. And thank you so much. Looking into getting this cut, but I was wondering if your camp site is uneven can the legs at the top, and bottom, both adjust for that. Say if your campsite is on a little bit of an incline or decline? Thanks again for a great review!!
The legs under the head adjust individually, but the rest (two other sets) don't. That would be a big improvement for the next version (if they do it). Even so, it was still more comfortable on uneven ground than a sleeping pad. As long as my head is higher than the rest of me I can make it work.
Thanks, even tho I didn't feel it was well thought out. I just grabbed my camera and setup (even missed focus a bit) and started recording without even drafting any notes or a script.
@@kneepayne you’re definitely a good speaker for winging it First rule of doing video is get good audio. As long as that’s solid any other flaws, focus, etc., are forgiven
I just returned mine. It didnt fit in the back of a 6ft truck bed or in a coleman 4 man tent. Trying out the "trail gate" cot now...3 inches shorter. Hopefully she fits.
I used mine in a 6 person tent. We’ve managed to use two in that tent. I could see how this might not fit some 4 man tents. Since tents don’t have to conform to any regulation when a manufacturer labels it “4 man” or “6 man” you aren’t guaranteed a minimum amount of space. I wouldn’t be surprised if it fit other “4 man” sizes from other brands. Yeah I tried it in the back of my 4Runner. Obviously didn’t work as I built a sleeping platform instead. I think the trail gate was discontinued and they marked it down a lot so it’s a more reasonable price now. I passed on it partly because at the time it was still at full price
Accurate! The legs are annoying. Also, the bed is under tension when it’s fully extended, so be careful of the foot end when folding it up. It’s thwapped me in the head a couple of times.
That's never happened to me. Laying down, sleeping, tossing and turning, and getting back up hasn't been an issue. Once I have the cot where I want it, staying put hasn't been an issue for me. The weight is 20lbs and yes that is hefty, it helps keep the whole thing in place.
I agree with the banana comment. I get lower back pain if I don’t match up my curves to the bed’s curves. Using a 3-4 inch inflatable mattress with the cot helps.
That's awesome! Thank you. Just got one Saturday morning. Got it without instructions so thank you brother.

Thank you. Well thought-out review and good, clear audio

Maybe small bungee cords to hold the legs in place.
Great review.
Have you had it out on winter? Curios if it sleeps cold with the mat on there?
No I haven't. We don't winter camp much (if ever)
This is super helpful thanks!
Very helpful, thank you!

Do the legs fold when you move while you’re sleeping?

@@kneepayne Thanks! I decided to go with the Disc-o-bed instead 👌
The Disc-o-bed has the hard side bars which he said he hated. I hope the bed works for you. @@thanatoskatakrima5864
Thank you
Glad the info I shared was useful
And the rubber in half end is broke so fast
It’s not that comfortable. I have one. It feels like you are sleeping in a banana.
Personal preference. As far as cots go (and I've slept on quite a few) it's plenty comfortable for me.
