Awesome explanation. Thank you so much.
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful!
Thank you for clear and simple explanation
Thank you
Thanks u so much sir cleared explanation..🙏
Thank you Sir 🙏
❤❤❤ Thanks a lot, great technical concepts as always
Thank you so much
I am vmware admin and today we got issue that sone of the datastore are not accessible to esxi host due to thiss some vms also got down
For trouble shooting we have checked from storage end the storage box upand running but still hosts cant access the datastore then we have rescan all datastores now all workibg fine can you please provide other trouble shootings like this live scenarios
Thank you for sharing your experience!
Facing datastore accessibility issues can indeed be challenging.
Besides rescanning datastores, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can consider for similar scenarios:
1. Check Storage Connectivity:
Verify the connectivity between your ESXi hosts and the storage array. Ensure cables are securely connected and switches are properly configured.
2. Review Storage Controller Logs:
Check the logs on your storage controller for any errors or warnings that might indicate connectivity issues or hardware failures.
3. Update Firmware/Drivers:
Ensure that both your ESXi hosts and storage array firmware/drivers are up to date. Sometimes compatibility issues or bugs in older versions can cause connectivity problems.
4. Verify Permissions:
Confirm that the ESXi hosts have the correct permissions and access rights to the datastores. Misconfigured permissions can prevent hosts from accessing the storage.
5. Check Network Configuration:
Review the network configuration on both the ESXi hosts and the storage array. Ensure that VLANs, subnet masks, and IP addresses are configured correctly.
6. Monitor Storage Performance:
Keep an eye on storage performance metrics such as latency, IOPS, and throughput. High latency or low throughput could indicate underlying issues impacting datastore accessibility.
These steps should help you diagnose and resolve similar issues in the future.
In this comprehensive guide, we'll walk you through the process of resolving VMware Datastore full issues step by step.

Nice one sir

Sir what happen if we select disable DRS for vm while doing svmotion
Hi Sir,
Disabling VMware Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) for a virtual machine (VM) while performing Storage vMotion (sVmotion) can impact the VM's performance and resource allocation during the migration process.
Here's what happens when you disable DRS for a VM during sVmotion:
1. Resource Balancing:
DRS is responsible for balancing resources such as CPU and memory across the VMware cluster. Disabling DRS means that the system won't consider the cluster's resource utilization when selecting a target host for the sVmotion operation. This can result in suboptimal resource distribution across the cluster.
2. Manual Selection:
Without DRS, you would likely need to manually select the target host for the sVmotion operation. This can be time-consuming and may not result in the most efficient placement of the VM.
3. Impact on VM Performance:
DRS helps optimize VM performance by dynamically adjusting resource allocations based on workload demands. Disabling DRS during sVmotion could potentially lead to resource contention or underutilization on the target host, impacting the VM's performance during and after the migration.
4. Risk of Overcommitment:
DRS also helps prevent overcommitment of resources by intelligently placing VMs on hosts with available capacity. Disabling DRS increases the risk of overcommitment, which can lead to degraded performance for all VMs on the host.
In summary, while you can technically disable DRS for a VM during sVmotion, it's generally not recommended unless there are specific reasons for doing so, such as ensuring the VM remains on a particular host for performance or licensing reasons. However, in most cases, it's best to leverage DRS to ensure optimal resource utilization and VM performance both during and after the sVmotion operation.
thanksss
You're welcome!
