Ive got an vast amount of levergun experience from old vintage models to present. This one appears well done with enough features and not overly tac-tarded. The only downside is one cant find it for anywhere near its MSRP. Still 44mag is an great first offering for defending oneself at home or in the bush for grouse to grizzly. Yeah, it can really be a good little game getter.

This reminds me of my Marlin Model 1894C in .357 Magnum, this looks like an awesome rifle.
I have a thing for a nice lever gun. time using a lever gun was when I was a kid first starting g out hunting. Borrowing my step dad's when he did not go out. I wanted to get one for myself, but even tho I like them they kinda put me off a little bit as well. The old school wood stocks on them made the guns heavier than it could be and easy to nick and scar up. Some had top eject and a lot just was not made that great. Kinda felt cheap. But this one looks like it fit the bill for me. Has everything I would want in a lever gun from the synthetic stock,good way to mount any optic for any situation,I like how you can easily mount a light on it, good caliber not to big like the 45-70 and 45-70 not cheap on the low end it's like 50 bucks a box. This gun be good for camping,hunting,backpacking, truck gun, shtf,even if ya just go out for a hike in the bush. Only thing I don't like about it is not anything doing with the gun,but people are trying to sell this thing for way over the msrp. Buds for one trying to sell it for a little over 1600 that's some bull shit. I ordered one from some place else for little over 12 after tax. But most place are selling over msrp

357 mag is my vote for next chambering
Just wish it would be more available in the stores !!! A beautiful firearm and no question as to the quality of Smith and Wesson. However marketplace availability is a problem. Ruger /Marlin has completely failed in this area. So it was exciting to see that Smith and Wesson was producing a lever action rifle. Really wish they would have chosen a different caliber. Love a .44 mag.. However it would have been nice to have it in 45-70. Or really go for it and chamber it in .460. Or even .350 Legend. Then get them on the market and then go a 44, 357, 30-30..... Still it would be nice if you could find one in the stores !! I love the blued steel and walnut version. But yeah no... they produced it in a Limited Edition run at a meter 4k !! Honestly !!! Get the rifle out to the stores and available to the consumer. Offer a S/S version and a Blued steel wooden stock price. Then offer the specialty high dollar versions.

Hey Travis, thanks for the little history lesson and review of that weapon! Looks like a feature rich lever action. I like the ability to unload it by pulling the magazine tube off. That's a great idea.
As for next chambering, I suppose a straight wall with a 30 to 35 cal bullet. (I'm not up to date on cartridge/bullet that are tubular magazine friendly)
If S&W could figure out how to incorporate a box magazine that would be cool. Then they could offer chambering for more ballistically efficient bullets.
They can chamber it in any caliber the thing is you use flat nozed builets so they don't engage the primer on the round in front of it in the magazine
I would like to see a 454 casull version.
I hope that next they make the same style in 45-70. 😃👌
Keep in mind guys with 44 magnum the heavy bullets recoil much more and for this rifle the 180 grain 44 magnum grounds will probably be very welcome let's recoil more fun

Have you noticed anything weird going on with the trigger? Not in terms of the wall and the break but like just over all being sloppy or loose. Sootch commented on it in his review and I noticed when you were bringing the lever back up I saw the trigger moving around
.357 for the next chambering, would pair great w a 357 revolver. Also a mlok handguard would make it modern for lights etc. I see 1 slot already

Smith and Wesson has tastefully given this rifle the bare Minimum needed to get up for a home defense rifle with the ability to add more things if you needed if you want to turn it into your c*** magnet like an AR15
