- Good evening to you all.
Today lets make liquid soap..... Its easier than you think but to help you all i have created a recipe for you to use along with a full tutorial on how to formulate using soap calc and then the full video on making the soap paste and then the full liquid mix.
One thing that i would say is maybe not thicken your mix with to much xanthun gum as i did as it got to thick but rather see how your fragrance works first.

Definitely worth a massive thumbs up! Thank you for your continuing generosity. 😍
Awe thank you for the lovely message. I’m glad it’s helpful
Thank you! I learned a lot. I still have questions, but I'm new to this and really haven't really gotten into it too much.
Glad it was helpful! Its such a learning curve but you can adjust the water content to the end also
Thank you! This was so clear in instructions! This was great to watch. xo
Now give it a go. You will never go back after
Thankyou for the recipe guide and full making video
Your welcome. Enjoy making
This was a great video, thanks Rhonda
Anytime. Your welcome . Glad you enjoyed
Thank you first timer on your site and enjoy your videos cheers
Oh thank you. Welcome to my channel 💕💕💕💕💕
Thank you for this video!!! I been looking for someone who created and made at the same time. I'm give it a go now!!
Hope you like it! Its a great recipe
Thank You!
I am trying to make some for my sister's friends. I too was scared to make it, but you have eased that pressure I will be trying to make this today. Wish me luck!
Good luck. Dont be scared. You can do this. I was worried at first to but its pretty easy
You are SUCH an excellent teacher...I love how willing you are to share your knowledge! The amount of detail you provide (in my opinion) is far superior to others I have watched. I find quite a few who seem to make generic videos and if you want the details you have to go to their paid site. I'm not saying they aren't good ones like you, I'm just saying I am super impressed and very grateful for the explanation of nuances you so generously provide. I am a newbie and not ready to start yet, but when I do, I am sure the knowledge you've shared will help eliminate a lot of the angst, frustration and common failures encountered. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
awe thank you thats so nice of you to say. i do try to give free advice as i understand that not every one can or wants to subscribe to a paid site. i really hope you enjoy making things as its so much fun and can i tell you that after making your own hand wash you will notice the moisturing bennefits to it, the store ones are drying for me so adding some gorgeous butters helps
It was a beautiful liquid soap however I was waiting for you to demonstrate a little bit.❤
Oh sorry about that
I love your videos thankyou soooo much for sharing your talents with us
Do you have a video on making room fresheners i only came across then less than a week ago and am loving them
Thankyou again so much.😊
Thank you so much. I dint have a video in that but i may have to do one 🤩
I love watching your videos. Thank you so much. I don't have a slow cooker. What can I use instead?
You can use a pot on the stove but watch it the whole time and jeep it on low
Congrats, very nice and detailed work. Is it possible to have a tutorial for laundry machine liquid soap and for washing dishes as well?
I don’t make either of those things sorry
Love Elly. I also learned a lot from her.
Yes she is really good at teaching
Thank you for this tutorial. It is so informative and good. I am wondering if it needs to add preservative to it? i hope no 🙏🏻
I dont add any but if you are to sell it you might want to. I make it for us and use it and never had an issue
I'm new to soaping, and I loved the video, it has been so helpful. Could this be used for a liquid laundry? If not, could you recommend a video or recipe? Thank you - DC
You could use it but i would drop the shea and add more coconut oil. Maybe i will bring a laundry one out
Thanks so much for sharing, ive come back to soapmaking after a long hiatus and ive learnt so much. I dont have Olive, what could i replace it with...plenty of baobab in my part of the world.
You can use any oil but make sure you put it back through soap sale
Soap calc I mean
Great 👍 video.
How do you determine the quantity of glycerine to use?
I buy it from a supplier. Honestly they are all pretty much the same
Elly and Keeley are fabulous aren't they! I love liquid soap but have never made it before. Think I might be able to give this one a go, thank you so much for sharing! Does it need to be kept warm while doing the blitzing? Or could it be done in a food processor? I have used a 1:5 ratio of soap to water in a foam pump bottle as a hand wash and it's lovely (it didn't have the xantham so was quite thin). Have a great day :)
It needs to be warm I think
Very good. Happy I found your video.
May I ask at what point do you turn your crock from high to low?
Also the xatham gum - is it the one for baking? Just want to be sure
Hi there. Once its all mixed then turn to low. Ive found a better solution now rather than xanthum gum. Mix is sodium latate. A little at a time
Hi There! Thanks So much for the recipe, I noticed you made the recipe four times bigger, do you also do that with the water?
It depends on lwhat you want with the recipe. They all differ a little
I love love this video and I have made it and I am so happy. Thank you for sharing. One question: after it has been sitting for a couple days there is a separation at the bottom. The soap seems to have risen up and there is a clearer liquid at the bottom. Is this normal? Do I just siphon off the soap at the top? Thank you - Mo
Hi there. There should be no seperation at all. It might mean you did not mix enough . It should be thick and the same consistency. I’m so glad you love it though
@@NelsonInteriorSoapery hmmm....I was thinking maybe it was the fragrance I used...but it is a good one from Nurture Soap...I have used it before. Maybe I should put it back in the crock pot and reheat it and keep stirring? Thank you for your response taking the time out of your busy day. Mo
@@mauricebecneljr3604 it’s ok I always try to message everyone back. The most important mixing time is the paste time as that can really make or break the recipe. Some fragrances may not be perfect just like when making bar soap. Did you use the glycerin? As that does help it not to seperate too
@@NelsonInteriorSoapery yes i did and xanthm gum.
@@mauricebecneljr3604 ok. I’m not sure. The only thing I can think of is the paste was slightly under cooked
Hi rhonda, does the lye have to be a certain temperature before pouring into the oils?
No not at all. You pour it in hot water
Thank you for this video. I have two questions 1. Must both oil and lye solvents cool to a definite temperature before mixing them together. 2. Should we allow the paste to cool before diluting.
No you want it warm to hot to mix and no need to cool
I’ve been thinking to make liquid soap, but seems so much more complicated than what I’ve been doing with cp and hp soap making.
I recently came by a bunch of potassium hydroxide by a company mistake, they were suppose to have sent sodium hydroxide. Anyway since I have all of this potassium I thought I’d go ahead and give liquid soap a go. I watched Elly’s Everyday, she also has a great video. I loved your video and I appreciate that you shared about your mistake with the x-gum. Thank also for sharing another person’s TH-cam channel to watch, Soy and Shea😊
I do have a question, if the liquid soap becomes too thick what can be done? Do we just add a little water until it thins out, or is it necessary to use heat as well?
Add water but keep it warm so it blends better. Elle everyday is amazing and after watching her i started. You may find your own things that work. I now use sodium lactate to thicken it
GOOD
Hello, do you ever make dual lye paste? If so, do you have to do a lower SF or can you SF at 5%?
I don’t do a dual but I’m sure others have. I would keep everything the same
Hello, I have questions, is it possible to add detergent agent in this soap or the KOH are detergent too
This recipe is not for detergent as the shea and cocoa butter is a creamy butter oil. You would need to remove butters and up the coconut to create a cleasing recipe.
If you already have a hard soap bar recipe that you love, could you use all the oils and butters from that same hard bar recipe and use it for liquid soap? Plugging everything into the calculator using KOH? Would you have the same qualities of your hard bar but in liquid form now?
I guess you can try but having lots of butters and oils will leave a lot os fat acum left over in the sink.
Hi, dear. I want to ask if I can use Potassium Hydroxide, Food Grade Flake 99% Pure, is it ok for making the liquid soap? Please advise, thank you so much.
I did not think theres food grade so please check as this is a chemical to create the soap paste
Hi, you gave lot of effort doing this but when it comes to pricing, does it worth to make business, how do you price it? Otherwise it is great to make liquid soap at home. Thank you for very detailed video. 💯
Awe thank you. Yes it is not a cheap one but you can charge what you think. Some places charge $50 a bottle for a hand made shea one like this
Hi Rhonda how much Potassium Hydroxide do you use for this 400g batch thankyou
hi there. heres the information and update for you.
water/glycerine 152g
lye 86g
coconut oil 44g
shea buter 40 g
cocoa butter 8g
caster oil 32g
olive oil 276g
Thankyou Rhonda😊
Have you made whipped soap/sugar scrub with the paste? Is there a video with the process?
I have not made that with the paste sorry
If you don’t have time to dilute the paste right away can one come back and do this process? Weigh the paste and then add amount of water into crockpot? Thank you for this helpful video.
Yes you can. You can save the paste for another day
@@NelsonInteriorSoapery thank you for the reply ❤️I’m sure I’ll have more questions along the way!
@@Carriedawaybath sure no problem.
can I add citric acid? If so when and how much would I add?
Im not sure. Why you want to add citcic
@@NelsonInteriorSoapery I was wondering this too. I believe the purpose is to lower the ph of the soap so it’s more neutral and skin friendly-although I’m nervous to try it in case it makes the whole batch seize up
Can coconut milk be used instead of water or does the heat take away the benefits ?
You could try but coconut milk may smell bad wirh the effects of lye
Should I add a preservative?
If selling it yes but i dont if its fir me similar to making bar soap
Thank you so much @@NelsonInteriorSoapery ☺
Liquid and bar are not the same. You need to use a preservative every time you have water in your products.
Did you make another video that didn't involve you cooking the soap?
Not for liquid soap as it needs cooking but there’s many cold processed ones.
@NelsonInteriorSoapery Thanks for your prompt response. I love your videos. Can this be used for bathing or just for washing hands?
Does anyone know the potassium hydroxide amount used in this recipe ,she says we can have the recipie but hasn't given the most important ingrediant, the lye
Its 1am in Australia so in the morning i will look it up and add it in. You can also go in soap calc and tap in the other amounts ive given to give you the amount if you know how to use it.
Sorry about that
i have now added the amount in the recipe. if you can see the video i show you all the amounts including the lye amounts when i explain soap calc and you can see the lye amount in the recipe. the amount is 86.04 and remember it is potasium
@@NelsonInteriorSoapery thank you very much,I'm new to making liquid soap,I'm very happy to receive your recipe and I will be making your soap today, very appreciated thank you 😊
@@marieclark7019 your welcome
Sorry how much lye do you use in this recipe it doesn't say in your drop down thank a lot
Sorry i will add it in the morning as its late and i need to go into my studio to find it for you .
I dont want to tell you the wrong amount but i will help in the morning
I can't use coconut oil is there any other oil I can use instead of coconut oil
There sure is. You don’t need the coconut. Put it in soap calc again as show in the video but use these percentages. 74% olive, 12% Shea, 10% caster, 4% cocoa
@@NelsonInteriorSoapery Thank
Hi, dear. I want to ask if I can use Potassium Hydroxide, Food Grade Flake 99% Pure, is it ok for making the liquid soap? Please advise, thank you so much.
Please check with your soap supplier as i dont yhink theres a food grade to this . This is a chemical that with oils and water creates soap but of course look at some research too
