I think they need to take a break or be single and see if both need/want a relationship with each other. She needs to get a handle on her insecurities and trauma from previous relationships. And he need to be honest with himself if he can handle a relationship with her learning to self regulate her insecurities with increasing personal responsibilities. Personally I think they need to be single and work on themselves and everything would fall in place if they are for each other.
