I'm an American and not too proud of it. These types of killings don't seem to affect thise that are not personally touched by such a tragedy. Our politicians are beholden ti their corporate sponsors
“Some people who were close personal friends and especially with our children, I actually never heard from again and never have” I’d so love to know who those “friends” are...what kind of rubbish human beings do you have to be to do that? What was it exactly? He became famous overnight through no choice of his own and you felt he was gonna become too big for his boots as the bloke who lost his wife and kids in a shooting? Were you worried that reporters would invade your privacy by knocking on your door? You should have been among the first people at his side when it happened and stayed with to him through thick and thin...whoever you are, you were never Walter’s friends, you were never Nanette’s friends and you were never Alannah & Madeleine’s friends...shame on you, I hope you haven’t slept a wink in the last 26 years
@Exculpatory Shōgun And if guns weren't allowed, she wouldn't have had to! If Martin Bryant wasn't allowed ACCESS to guns, Nanette Mikac, Allanah Mikac and Madeline Mikac would STILL BE ALIVE today! Access to firearms wouldn't have helped them!
Look at the difference in the murder rate in Australia who "gave up the ability to arm yourself" and that of America who think like you do. Easy access to guns kills more people than arming yourself. This man is a true Australian hero.
@@JenniB123 That's exactly what I was thinking, but didn't express it very well. I don't know Walter Mikac, but he seems to be an intelligent man. My mother taught Nanette at high school. I remember "Port Arthur" very well. My heart still breaks for what happened there. It still goes out to Walter, and I'm so pleased he's found "peace" in his life. I give to the Allanah and Madeline Foundation, regularly, for what it does for children and because I still feel for that family.

@@michaelscott5782 Yes! Absolutely, because criminals are known to follow the law being the societal paragons that they are....
Someone you know was killed so you gladly gave up your ability to arm yourself? Not too smart
What a ridiculous comment! You're right though, that comment is not too smart!

I love how Australians also try to argue they are more free ironically when by definition restriction is the opposite of freedom.
