    Nice work on that beat! FYI that sample that you used was based on a 1974 song " Sungoddess" by Ramsey Lewis , who recently passed away.

      I grew up on that Sungoddess album. Mom was heavy on the Ramsey Lewis.

    I don't even regret not going out. I'd rather stay inside and perfect my craft. I aim to be the best in the world. I mean there's a lot of criticism out there. There so many producers at the level I want to get at in terms of quality instead of quantity sonic wise.
    I still need to learn sampling songs for Boom Bap.
    I'm cool with being inside. Work eithic over everything. Unless I believe in the artist I'll do my utmost best to reach out to them. 👍🏾💯

      There’s good & bad to this. Staying in holds you back from certain opportunities, but it also helps you stay close to perfecting your craft. But mingling with people bumping shoulders always works/helps with growth for the business side of things.

    I learned music theory after being self taught guitar growing up.
    (I never had a problem choosing the right samples in arrangements to match the keys).
    I sample chopped my way out of having to time stretch in arrangements.
    My biggest issue was preventing something as simple as clipping lol and, not organizing drum shots by notes A-G# or tuning them.
    I fixed all this later. Live and learn.

    Thanks for the tips, Sensei !
    I agree 100% with the music theory, that is the things that give me the more problem right now, idk if I'm perfectly on the keys or not most of the time, I really need to go away from the beat and come back later to have birds eye view on my beat

    My man….1st of all THANK YOU for bein a passionate Boom Bap lova. I actually am not savvy enough yet, I mess up my bpm and don’t know how to correct it. Next thing I know all my samplez fucked. Still am having a very hard time learning the playlist & mixer . Seems I always got it mixed together or 2 things playin.
    My point. When I get more familiar. You’re who ima go by.
    Also, with this video, thanks for being transparent bout music theory. Much respect. Lifetime follow bruh. I promise in future I’ll purchase 1 of your packs. All I do, is sit here n try to teach myself. Very difficult with alllll the different vids. So far you & the account ‘In The Mix’ work for me. But I gotta ‘graduate’ to you 😅

    number 3 definitely hits home for me. i got 1 placement but only got 200 dollars for it... 7 years later smh lol but it did get me a magazine feature so i can't complain... i'm still going hard.

      dope!! I mean sometimes, our best stuff was made almost a decade ago. It just takes the right person to hear it.

    My biggest regret is that, when i started to upload beats to youtube, i choose quantity over quality

    • @theycallmeheat
      @theycallmeheat  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      quality is created over time. Quantity is to build consistency for when the quality kicks in, you're already ahead of the gam. 💯 thanks for tuning in.

    I regret being too thirsty and desperate for placements. Also not learning how to play an instrument.

    • @theycallmeheat
      @theycallmeheat  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      gotta find balance between it all. you can always get placements, but theres so much more out there for us. thanks for tuning in fam. 💯💯
