I bought a refurbished M1 from Amazon a couple years ago and I am happy with it. I use its Ethernet output and go into a separate larger wi-fi unit and then Ethernet cable into a portable rack-mount pc. I live stream a 3 hour show from hotels once a week. Works great. Occasionally my cell service gets compromised if thousands of people are in the area for a football weekend. But, M1 has worked out for me.
Ditto, but I have several devices. The MR1100 has a poor internal router, if you transfer files say from one laptop to another it’s sloooooow. But you can connect a second router to it, and put it into slave mode.
@@Erin-Thor Yes, I do the same thing. I use a (cheap but powerful) wifi router connected by ethernet between the M1 and my windows pc rack. I use the wifi with my wireless cameras (I have several NDI wireless cams plus several HDMI running). The M1 router and wifi signal wasn't strong enough for smooth operation in my situation. But, the M1 is nice as a modem because it does have that Ethernet port.
No mention of VPN support. When I travel I want a secure connection to the Internet for all my devices. The advantage of running a VPN on the router it only requires 1 VPN user license and I don’t have to configure a VPN client on each device. I use GL Mundi which supports VPN. Major fail by the manufacturers and marjor fail with this reviewer not mentioning to use a VPN while travelling. 😢
I'm confused. If I have a phone without a phone plan, can I still use it to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi? (I'm in Canada and need for Canada only)
Question, do you need the SIM of the country in your phone if you are using one of the global hotspot(regardless of whether the hotspot uses sim or eSIM)
I’m trying to find a subscription free, easy to setup, 5+ hour battery, for gaming, 150$ max budget , 4g LTE, Ethernet output, I’m using for gaming on the go. What do you recommend
Also signal drop outs when apps starts updating receiving notifications etc. Plus with separate simcard device can be place in better signal area like near windows in hotels (I work away alot)
You have a point. However there's no substitute for dedicated hotspot device. It's okay if you want to check a 5 minutes email, mobile phone is good enough. But if you need to work for an hours, then get that portable routers.
I bought a $10 at&t unlimited data card from eBay. $35 a month. Had a hot spot for it. It was meant for a tablet. I cancelled it when I moved into a house with WiFi. I ordered another off eBay from a different seller, I didn't work. . The guy bought a 1000 cards, thought they were active. I just let it go after he accused me of being a conman😅😅😅 . I had to get a $75 a month Verizon. Super fast data. I love it!!
Phone hotspot is convenient but it's not the best it will drain your cellphone battery fast and connection will be bad if using the cell phone same time to talk

@@HowardGoldmanit sounds like you are using the m1 for the m6 or m6 pro. And Netgear from my experience makes the best hotspot modem hands down.
Why you use another roughter where M1 is a roughter as well@@HowardGoldman

I like the Solis as the data does not expire as I use mine on camping trips which might be a few months apart.
What do you mean? Like the data rolls over to the next month & continuously stacks?
@@Purp_Haze. sounds like he buys gb of data without expiration.
No prices?

I have an unlocked ATT M6 Pro Netgear took it to metro pcs and they said they couldn't activate this device what a waste of $500
That's what happens when you don't know what you're doing and don't buy from places that accept returns.
Which one of these can disable the password and have open connections
Couldn't you just get a good cellphone plan with no cap and no throttle for a good hotspot to game?
If only I can get mine to work....
