I don’t think Kelechi ever got the chance to play a full season. Experience is key. I think an average 18 year old can turn into a good player if being played/starting consistently for 5 years. While a great player can turn into average/below average player if they don’t start games regularly for 4-5 years.

Fun Fact for the people that like insulting Iheanacho. As of the 18th of March 2021, Kelechi Iheanacho has a better goals per minute ratio across all competitions than Gabriel Jesus!
Somehow people think that he forgot how to score. He doesn't get minutes! Leicester play a lone striker system! It is only recently they started pairing him with Vardy!
Iheanacho has a goal every 141 minutes. Gabriel Jesus has a goal every 147 minutes!
If he succeeds Vardy, then you will get an idea of just how good he is. Hard to be at your best when you got 32.7 minutes per appearance at Man City and 44.1 minutes per appearance at Leicester.
But that isn't even the bigger issue. Consecutive starts, which builds momentum is the bigger problem. As soon as Pep came in, consecutive appearances/starts went out of the window. Pep himself has gone on public record to state that he did not give Iheanacho a chance, yet Man City fans think he somehow flopped. When he was given consecutive games in Man City he had the best goals per minute ratio in the whole of Europe! Better than Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo!
Iheanacho has always delivered when given consecutive starts. There is a reason why Manchester City STILL have a buy back clause for Iheanacho! Because he NEVER failed at ManCity, he wasn't given a chance. Only Pellegrini gave him a bit of a chance.
