    For those asking, yes my boys had enough food. This was a challenge for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. That’s it. I don’t let my children go hungry.
    They have access to fresh blackberries in the back yard, fresh veggies and melons in the garden. Summer time they don’t eat a lot. It’s too hot here in East TN. Just because they are boys, doesn’t automatically mean they constantly eat 😂

    Omg Brooke. I thought I was all frugal spending ten bucks on myself in a week. You really inspire me. And thank you for being so charitable. I'm so happy I found you...makes me believe that there's still humanity in this crazy world! ❤️✌️ And a shout out to your boys. I absolutely love them as your taste testers!

    Good Job- Another option is to make the potatos and sausage into a soup. With half the bag of mixed veggies that would make one meal for your family plus leftovers .

    This was amazing to see complete meals! A good sub for Mac n cheese for the milk is to use pasta water. It's really about making a roux, and the pasta water contains flour particles that aide in thickening the sauce.

    My granny lived through the depression. She was really good at stretching food. Try this, it sounds crazy, but it's delicious. Peel and chop 4 potatoes. Chop about 1 med. onion. Add it in. Salt and pepper. Boil in twice the amount of water you normally would. When potatoes are fork tender, ad in 2 packs of noodles from ramen packs. DO NOT USE THE SEASONING PACKETS! LOL Granny used other noodles, but ramen seems to make it creamier and cheaper. When pasta is done, add in butter, however much you like. Then add in about 1 cup milk. Cook until desired thickness. Make sure you have plenty of salt and pepper. This is very filling and you can jazz it up with cheese, peas, broccoli, etc.

      Heres an idea: 1 can of chili, two boxes mac & cheese. Cook mac n cheese and combine with chili. Its good just like this, but you can add in some more beans, or canned corn. I also add some ketchup and about 1/2 of water.

      Kylen, my small one, is the pickiest. He hates cooked carrots. He picks them out lol he changes his mind weekly on what he likes and doesn’t like lol

    • @mimijulene6307
      @mimijulene6307 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I often hear people say their children won’t eat fruits and veggies. If you start young and offer them over and over they will eat them! If your children are hungry right before dinner, put out veggies on the counter, try a little Ranch dip if needed. Once they start eating them they may or may not continue to want the dip every time. Of course we all have things we don’t prefer, like Kylen doesn’t like cooked carrots, but he eats them raw! As children get older their taste buds are less sensitive and they enjoy more foods than they did before too.

    To bulk it up if family likes to eat more would make "ham salad " with bologna adding some relish from pantry along with mayo. To the stirfry add a cup of rice ( cooked it will be 3 cups ) . Add 7 oz. Bag of macaroni to your 2 boxes of Mac & cheese. 1 more potatoe to the fried potatoe & sausage. Cost will be just a dollar more. 😊

    I'm improvising. I can't get that sausage. I've tried looking in-store. But I found 12 oz pack of bar s hot dogs for 1.18 and I would get 2 packs instead of the ham and sausage. My grandmother made ham salad with grated hotdogs. My husband loves chopped hotdogs in his fried potatoes. 6 Eggs are 2.06 in my world so I'd marinate and sauté tofu at 1.74 a pound, for the fried Ramen.
