You asked for helpful suggestions. Buckling your waist belt and chest strap on your pack will hold it close to your body and feel much better skiing particularly if you have some more weight in it.

A place to visit via boat or auto in Maine is Somesville on Mount Desert Island. You'll have to walk across the arched bridge at the Museum. It is so romantic and beautiful. Check out the salt water in the Somes Sound here too. It's a good place to anchor for the night.
