Tom Hardy’s Venom was kind of a surprise hit, somehow convincing people to see a movie set in the Spider-Man world without giving them any Spider-Man. Naturally a sequel followed, and now a third movie has squeezed in to somehow make this a trilogy! All without ever seeing Spider-Man!
So check out the pitch meeting that led to Venom: The Last Dance, to find out how it all came together!

“Acting like you’re about to do something fun and then not doing it is good!”
Biggest plot twist of the century
Truly THE plot twist of all time
I am offended. I demand my TIGHT!!!
Disney's entire current business model, amirite? 😂
It's almost as if M. Night Shyamalan wrote the script for this one...
Lol
“And then not doing it is ..good” that comedic timing is so perfect
i snorted my drink on that. Did not expect.
He did a thing like he was gonna do a thing and then didn't do the thing!
A joke five years in the making.
You're correct . A full ellipsis would have been to much.
He acted like he was going to do something fun and then....not did it
To be fair, I have walked into the 1st casino of a Vegas trip 3 times and bumped into someone I knew from a different state that I hadn't seen in years and always wondered how that was possible. Now I know it is because anything can be written.
Nice
It seems odd, but when you turn the question around and look at the probability you will never run into anyone you know. It turns out to be surprisingly small.
Someone you knew from a different state is slightly less coincidental than the local grocery store owner. Sorry, had to be said 🤷🏻♂️
@@harrymills2770 Is that why it never happens to me?
But did you put yourself and others in critical danger just to dance with them? Because if not, what are we even talking about?
2:04 hurt my soul. Great job!
That “good” traumatized me
Talk about being blue balled!
That was NOT tight.
Dude 🫠
It was so painful. I was afraid that he was going to do it again later on with an even more iconic line.
"1:36 But by then we already have their money..." is Hollywood's true MO. The sooner people realize that, the sooner Hollywood will be forced to make better movies and not rely on tricks.
Unfortunately, it seems people are still going to give them money.
And sadly Hollywood will find new tricks. Scam artists are a constant threat for a reason
Its not hollywood anymore, check out the awful Veilguard game and what the shill media writes about it.
I think people know this. It's not some hidden secret that Hollywood is greedy...alot of people just don't really care I guess.
Beautiful line
"I can write whatever I want" needs to be the new catchphrase.
Pretty much the core of all bad writing this kind of thinking since pretty much forever.
subverting our expectations on established catchphrases is super easy, barely any difficulties experienced
"Apparently we're in the multivers--"
"...and we're back."
Watching the pitch meeting for a movie I’ll never see is… good.
Very good. Also saves time and money.
“Oh, acting like you’re going to do something fun and then not doing it is _good_ !”
Ah, you twisted me! You always know the best ways to keep this series fresh.
He was acting like he was gonna say "TIGHT" and didn't do it.
@@matthewpatrick7263 That's the joke silly. He was acting like he was going to do "something fun"
Your example for diverting expections really got me😂
Okay boomer.

@@rorysimpson8716 hey calm down geezer. someone is fixin to have a tumble down the stairs if they don't start acting right.

You mean subverting?
“I can write whatever I want here and people have no choice but to accept it.”
Good old Hollywood logic.
I wish it wasn’t so true.
2:04
Caught me off guard as well.
It did, didn't it?
Haven't watched any of the Venom movies, but I've seen all the pitch meetings.
Me, but just remove the word "Venom"
Same, the trailers already revealed to me that they are insults to the original comic books.
So you're saying you've missed absolutely nothing... :P ;)
Thank you so much, I ended up seeing the other movies with friends in the cinema, this is enough closure without sitting through the entire movie. You're doing God's work Ryan.
Haha, you know that Ryan *is* god in this universe, right?
Making a non Spider-Man, but a Spider-Man adjacent trilogy is tight!

Wow
watching pitch meeting so early, It bearly an inconvenient
Finally, I was almost worried I'd have to watch this movie
Oh, changing the line to good is UNIQUE!
It's still insane to me that they made an entire trilogy about one of Spider-Man's biggest villains and had 0 Spider-Man.
Venom is more of an anti-hero who sometimes Peter and who sometimes fights Peter
@@rcarfang2 ...after years of being a villain, yes.
Which somehow worked because they made enough money each time to make one more. It's not even all on Sony. It found an audience in the same way those Transformers movies did.
@@rcarfang2”who sometimes Peter”?? That sentence doesn’t make sense
Six movies about Spider-Man adjacent characters with no Spider-Man. But who needs Spider-Man when all of his villains are actually heroes in this universe? There's a reason the budgets for these movies are so low compared to MCU films, they know they're producing garbage and they keep the costs low enough that they will turn a profit off the (relatively) small number of people that are going to see these films out of pure curiosity.
I have been waiting for this video more than I even wanted the movie
New Pitch Meeting right after new Ryan George video? Must've mixed Halloween for Christmas!!
Wow wow wow.........................................................................
wow
Ryan was arrested for animal abuse this morning
Sony had 3 shots at this, and they still failed to make a genuinely good Venom movie...
This trilogy proved to me that Marvel & the MCU definitely saved Spider-Man. Had Sony not made that deal, we'd get Spider-Man films comparable to Madame Webb, Venom, Morbius & soon Kraven the Hunter...
Sony also made the Sam Reimi _Spider-Man_ films, the Tom Holland _Spider-Man_ films (and yes, the Andrew Garfield ones too), and _Into the Spider-Verse_ . They can do good _Spider-Man_ . They just choose not to, because the rest of Hollywood also chooses not to do good films. They're just going along with the trend.
it is kind ahilarious/sad/my brain itches to see that they never learn and movie after movie, the same moldy vomit soup recipe fails to attract people, yeeeeet they keep serving it
You do know that sony made no only all of spider tv shows since the 90s,but also all the spider man movies except mcu spider man yeah?
Sam raimi is sony
Andrew is sony
Miles morales is sony
If anything venom and the others is proof that sony only knows how to tell a spider man story. All there non spider man spider man movies have done worse the less spider man related it is. And miles proves that literally the more spider men you add the better it gets.
@@BNutsthe issue belongs in writers, marketing and executives, it’s so processed towards TGI that they can’t show to much and have to show certain things to please the actors guilds, and film committees who invest into these movies. Marketing should not have so much power in writing this is why Easter eggs became such a huge feature, people will pay to see a reference in hopes of what will be showed next.
Writers are extremely limited now especially when working with huge production companies this is why the director of Joker 2 purposely shafted the movie and said he never wants to work on another DC movie ever again
💯 The Venom movies are entertaining and forgettable at best, but none of them are good
2:37 "Wow you really can write whatever you want." "I sure cancer."

She also created the shows “Terra Nova” and “The Changeling” and worked on “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Bronson,” “Saving Mr. Banks,” and “Cruella”
She has a varied career. The fact that she had to adapt the awful 50 Shades novel doesn’t disqualify her as writer

Gah! I think I sprained something in my brain
It's super easy, barely a problem.
Should’ve mentioned that one of the memories in Eddie’s emotional montage was when Venom was at the club after they broke up in the second movie, which Eddie was not present for
They share memories. When they rebonded Eddie could’ve known about it.
Is Thom Hardy's charachter from Prometheus connected to the Venom universe?

Missed opportunity. When they dance, I was waiting for "That's the title of the movie!" (The Last Dance.)
Nice job with the edit. Also, his beard is looking more full and black. Also, having a pitch meeting show up four minutes after you were just thinking about it is tight

Watching the first movie then watching the Pitch of the sequels is tight!
How come every painfully bad movie atrocity gets a trilogy these days?
Back in my day sometimes not even good movies would get trilogies!
"They just had big vats of acid nearby" lol yep. The writing was all over the place in the this one, and they took a LOT of liberties. BUT it was a really fun movie overall.
I've got a pitch meeting pitch idea for you, on April Fool's Day you could release a compilation of all the compilations of the things you just watched from the ends of these episodes
Well stated. I also hated that Juno's character wouldn't shut up about her brother, who's been dead for 30 years, talking to people she obviously already knows well.
Another thing: Venom said that the Codex was activated when he saved Eddie’s life in the first movie, but then later he says that he and Eddie have been together for a year. So did Knull just wait a full year before sending his minions after the activated Codex?
Well you know space travel and stuff
@@DrippleDragonBut weren’t the minions going through portals at the beginning of the movie?
@@JarfTacoand don't forget the other guy who's dead and brought back to life
Why didn't he have the codex? Sure it's a different symbiote, but still it's said that the codex appear when saving a host's life. Didn't say have to be someone it bonded with before
From the sound of it, this movie was half-assed.
2:04 Producer guy is evil for that one.
Venom: The Last Dance joins The Dark Knight Rises and Iron Man 3 in the "third entry of a superhero series that barely features the superhero" club
gist of the movie: "I can write whatever I want and people have no choice but to accept it"
Unexpectedly saying good instead of tight is superb.
I never would have expected a Venom movie to have the same villain as a Legend of Zelda game. The multiverse is truly in full swing!
That's Knull with a K though
@DarthMolgy that's just further evidence of the multiverse...
I thought it was more a Final Fantasy villain, but without the hair-care products.
I didn't even know there were any Venom movies, let alone 3.
1:30 made me CRY KAIFHING HAHAHAHAHHDKAKEHUD
Honestly the backstory callback part almost made me start laughing in the theatre, because I did *not* care enough about that scientist to care enough about her backstory, let alone a backstory callback. Would've rather gotten a backstory on the conspiracy family (wasn't super invested in them either but at least they were funny)
“Acting like you’re about to do something fun and then not doing it is… good!”
😂😂😂
I was hoping Ryan George would point out the fact how Knull was trapped in his prison and able to teleport the xenophages but NOT himself
happy halloween
Changing catchphrases to trick your views is .. good.

I loved this pitch meeting so i showed it to my parents, they loved it. I bought a projector and showed it to the whole neighborhood, they loved it.
This movie was so bizzare it almost tricked me into not realizing it was bad. Like I just thought "that was weird" to such an extent that it didn't occur to me that it was also not very good.
I was just thinking how a Swordfish Pitch Meeting could be TIGHT.
"Sounds like a weak plot. What could we get Halle to do to make it interesting?"
@NJGuy1973 "Well I was thinking that she could be sunbathing topless and then lure Hugh Jackman to a meeting with John Travolta where he threatens to shoot Hugh's character if he doesn't hack into the department of defense within one minute while being forcibly given a blowjob."

Inhumans killed MCU twice in Sep-2017
When it comes to reviewing any MCU project post Endgame , its best to have Inhumans-level expectations Its good to be surprised
No matter how ethnically, racially, sexually or any way diverse cast you have, If your film or series has Inhumans - level writing, It just won’t work just like Wish and Madame Web
The IMAX presentation of the first two episodes grossed $3.5 million worldwide.
"Nobody is going to root for a cast of characters who stand for discrimination, eugenics, and racism." with 5 out of 8 episodes having zero plot and zero-character development -Inhumans review.

I watched this again and it's still good!
It's interesting how the modern idea of the 3rd installment in a superhero trilogy is to remove the titular hero for as much of the movie as possible, regardless of the quality of the film: Iron Man 3, Dark Knight Rises, Venom 3, etc.
The reason Mrs Chen is in Vegas is very simple: They wanted to do a big "look how far we've come, remember the good times" thing for Venom and Eddie, but for that to work you need characters to interact with. Those characters should be returning characters that have histories with the protagonist, for reminiscing and to show the audience how many people the protagonist loves and cares for. But they kind of forgot to write those kinds of characters in the first two films, so they just have to settle for the store clerk people will recognise from the "turd in the wind" trailer.
This⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️
They could have put her in the movie in a way that actually makes sense.
@@ChristophBrinkmannSorry, that's not how Sony rolls.
@@ChristophBrinkmann But they had to put a musical number in, because Joker 2 was reported as a musical, and they thought they'd ride the coat tails of a movie that would obviously be a massive hit!
Unrelatedly, but I also imagine the whole "permission to utilise the Six" thing was to put in the trailer and make people think it was about the sinister six, the thing that Sony is obsessed with teasing despite not really wanting to make it and nobody really wanting to see it XD
@swguygardner I thought the same about "the six" but i don't see it in any trailers. Maybe that was the plan and then they scrapped it.
