I think the guy represents an individual stuck in a toxic relationship, and the monster represents the toxic individual. The girl represents people that he loves, like friends and family, and the monster eats these people because it wants the guy for itself. It's pretty common in toxic relationships to isolate the partner and make them feel as if only they can love them. The ice cream thing represents the idea of, although the monster is exceptionally toxic, they still do feel love; the problem is that they don't know how to properly express love. The girl and guy's relationship also represents that you have two options in a toxic relationship: you can stay in it and "die," or you can leave and become stronger and learn to love someone who will treat you right once you learn to love yourself. This is just my thoughts about it, though, I'd love to hear what others would add onto this.

@@martinjames6431 its not about millenials,its great that it ended great for you but it usually means that person is possesive,the person doesn't even know well the other person after literally seeing them three times,if they knew each other before that's different but if they literally saw each other just three times and he or she already says I love you most of the time it has nothing to do with the other person it just means that the person who said it lives in the fantasy world and sees only the good stuff about that person but soon as the flaws come out they will not know how to cope with that,they will be angry,possesive or they dump the person very easy as they said I love you because that type of person lives in the moment,sometimes it ends great but its usually a warning sign.

I think the man and the monster were two sides of the same person, and that the main character is representative of a person in an abusive relationship. At the beginning, the man seems sweet and likable, and many abuse victims have said that the beginning of a relationship with an abuser often seems great and normal. But, when his obsessive behaviors start to show up, the main character starts to catch glimpses of the monster here and there, and when she tries to walk away, he manipulates her with the often used abusers line "If you go, who else will love you?" taking advantage of her insecurities. The man and the creature are really the two sides of how the main character perceives the man she's dating. In order for her to escape an abusive relationship, she has to kill her perception that he was ever sweet or loving to see the monster behind the illusion. I also love how the man mentions that he "can't stop falling" and that if he doesn't, he'll "starve," alluding to the fact that a lot of abusers have a misconstrued understanding of love and treat it like an addiction, or something that is consumable. They try to force other people's love in order to feel satisfied with themselves. And escape, for the main character, means facing an extreme amount of pain and trauma as she literally "cuts herself off" from the relationship with him and runs away. And that last shot at the end isn't supposed to be sweet. It's supposed to show how the abuser's true nature will continue to feed the illusion that he's "really just a normal guy" to continue fooling the rest of the world, even when his secret's out.
Must admit, that's a brilliant n most acceptable interpretation!

Her hand shows what she had to let go in order to leave the “toxic relationship”, a piece of herself that she’ll never get back. And he was probably emotionally unavailable or something. He falls in love but then his charm wears off, his true self (aka the demon thing) shows which has possibly harmful habits. So he only reveals his true self once he’s in love (hence why he said the demon was proof he loved her) but he has harmful behaviors in the relationship that show themselves later on and end up hurting each woman he’s with. That’s what I got out of it, I liked this short!

It's actually scary how much people observe, When i worked at Dunkin donuts every regular that would come in the crew would know all kinds of crazy creepy shit. They observe a lot and study regulars like that's their actual job. It is quite scary to see just how much a customer doesn't know much about the worker but the worker will know things that would blow your mind from simply watching people over and over.

Apart from the forgetting how knifes work and basic human anatomy unnecessarily towards the end, this was a pretty awesome short. The part were she has made it outside the first time and he tries to coax her back by saying he accepts her history and to think about if anyone else will... It was delivered so casual and subtle at the end of that scene it was brilliant! There are these little slips of manipulation that abusive people display that help them slowly chip away at their victims, insidiously laying snares so artfully most don't realise before its too late and they are trapped by them. That scene put a chill up my spine enough to yell at my monitor. So yeah, wd.
That was the BEST monster reveal ever!! No unnecessary loud noises, just silence. There's a huge difference between scary and haunting!

If you think their ugly that's fine, you can have your opinion, but I personally think they are very unique and attractive, and I love my gap. In fact I declined braces when they were offered to me. I really thought she was gonna turn the tables and be the sociopathic killer tbh. Kinda underwhelming
I’m only 4 minutes in, but this is a very realistic portrayal of a date between a new couple. He’s satisfyingly odd in a normal guy sort of way...she’s intelligent enough to feel something is a bit off...but she’s also perfectly self-conscious to still fall for his compliments. This does not feel forced at all. Also, you can clearly feel her disquiet. She can sense that *something*...isn’t right. But she doubts her own intuition.

I am sure something like that scenario has played out in other stories and heck I may of seen or read one where the victim ends up not being the real victim.

I cried watching this. I’ve never known love. Just pain, suffering, sorrow and the yearning to be loved but it will never happen. I am envious of those that can die and take it for granted. To love and die in peace must be such a beautiful feeling.

I love this channel, not for the horror aspect, but the messages that are in these short films. A good film always has a message or symbol that has a deeper meaning. Most horror films don’t have these messages or symbols so they really aren’t that interesting. THESE HOWEVER have amazing life lessons and messages that the world should know about. I think there was a deeper meaning behind this. People hear the word love and tend to get attached at that moment. the monster symbolized the mans need for love, possibly due to past experiences, but also abuse in a relationship. The handcuffs showed how she was locked into the relationship and seemingly couldn’t get out of it no matter what was happening. she overcame her abuse and ended it, literally. When she’s on the ground, she mentions how the man doesn’t love the woman as much as the guy did. this also shows how abused others in a relationship take it as love.
The creature putting the ice cream bar by his body at the end was actually really sad in a cute way 😞

I think the monster are his own abusive tendencies. The lies. The way he tries to paint himself as the only guy who could get past the "accident with the kid". His proof that he loves her is something that will hurt her. The thing with the ice cream is maybe him comforting himself after doing something really abusive. I think he really is a serial killer. He's been killing women he loves. She escapes and asks the man "do you love her?" And when he says yes she goes "not as much as he loved me". It's very common amongst abuse victims. After they get out of a really terrible situation they only remember the good parts. Idk, it just makes sense to me.

Coool...so it's about a guy who can't fall in love. If he does, a monster will eat them, and then as an apology, the monster will give the guy an ice cream sandwich ??? What is happening??
I though of everything as a representation. Like the monster represents the toxic individual (and that's why he eats the girls, so the guy is alone and he' can have him for himself). The girl represents the people the guy loves (friends, family, and more). The ice cream represents the fact that even if the monster is hurting him he is "apologizing" (as toxic people do, they apologize even if they don't mean it, just to give you the illusion of love).

The GamingNacho I wish I knew ! Nothing points to her having died but I guess since the tables turned on the monster something changed. Maybe with the guy dying, the monster, who lived him too, gave him that piece of candy.

So the monster was the representation of his love. And by cuffing them, he's trying to show them girls his love, which is the monster. and once her negative thoughts come about him,
his negative thoughts get to him, then his monster comes and eats them til he can learn to move on and forgive himself? that's why the monster gave him the sandwich bars? cause his monster was his own love and trying to show him to love himself instead of another person.

you can't really, certainly not that fast. however, when under pressure, the human body can do things previously perceived as impossible, (such as use the full capacity of our muscles), and so maybe it is possible when afraid for your life to hack off your own hand in ten seconds with a serrated steak knife.
I saw the poll "Is it weird to say I love you on a third date" I answered no because it depends on how long you've known them and how comfortable you are with them, its all relative to the situation. Since there wasn't an "explain your thinking" option to the comments I went lol
