This song helps me think back to my childhood when life was simpler. No responsibilities or real world expectations. Just the expectation to be a good boy, do my school work and enjoy life. It feels like yesterday.
I have spent many nights listening to Thomas Newman. Appreciating the sheer beauty of his music, crying tears of happiness and pure deep pain! I love Thomas Newman and thank god for giving him his musical gift ❤️
One of the few instances that makes me sit down, and actually think about my 56 years on this Earth....what this music does to my innermost feelings is beyond any words.....
Six feet under...my favorite show of all time...soundtrack and cry..because that's your life flashing before your very eyes.. Ps... my husbands funeral I played "Revolutionary Road End title... Thomas Newman there are no words for your magic...
Profoundly beautiful and nostalgic - brings back all of the wonderful memories of being a child and being around my mother and father having fun outside and traveling.
Thomas Newman's "American Beauty" theme music has ALWAYS touched my soul, and makes me ACHE for something I cannot define (And I'm normally not the most "spiritual" of people) but this soundtrack just DOES this to me. So much so that driving to my mother's funeral 9 years ago, I purposely listened to it, just to reinforce its power on me. The single piano with string accompaniment is such a DEEPLY moving motif.
When I listen to this I feel like Iv just stopped still .... and am watching the world slowly pass by and am just at peace feels like everything is going well in life. Just to be here alive as you are now listening to this song, I was too. I was ere 2020.
I hear ANYTHING from Thomas Newman....and I immediately think of Family! Sometimes words just are not enough to say out loud what our souls are feeling.....that is when music comes in to help out! Blessings To All From Ohio🙏
Ive been listening to this soundtrack from time to time i the last few years, helps me fall asleep and feel any type of way I want to feel...if there were more people in the world like you guys in the comments/people listening to this it would be a better world Take care all.

Ricardo Cortes It happens to me too sometimes and i dont know why but i listen to this and i start thinking about my past, present and possible future, remembering happy moments and sad too.
@Ricardo Cortes I've just came across your comment. You have written this 1 year ago. I just wonder how you are now. I hope you are fine and enjoying your life. If you are not, just remember that nothing lasts forever. Even heaviest burden on our shoulder will be gone one day in the future. So, let the time heal your wounds... Take care.

Don't you all feel like the mystery of the question is and always will be better than any answer? This is the beauty of life. A plastic bag blowing in the wind is the same wind that breezes on your face at the beach so it is the unexpected of it all in the end. I hope you all are here to relax and to appreciate it. Take a deep breath, think about the idea of gratitude, and just be thankful for your existence. What a gift! Life isn't a burden. At least it shouldn't be for anyone. I know that pain and hateful exists out there... but this single space in time that consists of a video shared online with thousands and thousands of people out there is just a space to escape and relax.
I have vivid memories of sitting with my family watching House MD when I was 5. My mum was ironing clothes while watching to my left, while my bro and dad were on the other settee behind to my right. The bright living room lights bouncing off the patio curtains, the evening darkness peering through the gaps. It makes me so sad. This one scene in my memory is so important to me.
I have memories of when me, my dad, mom, and sister would watch Finding Nemo all the time. We really liked it, and we would watch Toy Sotry too. The sunset which we can see from out of our blinds, the orange dimming of the sunset spreading across the room, and my mom and I cuddled and my dad and sister cuddled. We would sit there for hours watching different disney movies... These kinds of songs just remind me so much of when i was really young.the curtains would turn orange and light up the close range of the other side of the room.
So glad to find this. I think it makes you happy and sad at the same time but so beautiful. Like Lester said in the movie Its hard to be mad when there is so much beauty in the world.
I am an artist and find this a wonderful piece to play while I am painting. Deceptively simple, evocative, bittersweet, poignant. It seems to resonate within a deep part of my mind.
How can I find the words to describe my feelings. This music is like nature itself, perfect. Thomas was inspired by something beyond imagination. Thanks for this gift to the world.
This music inspires me so, I often think of what I once read -life is about decision making, the trick is living with those decisions you made. Newman’s music is more than just a back drop to a movie, more than just a score to a movie , his music is so thought provoking , hard to put into words , it’s all emotional , things you have , people in your life, friends , family you’re lost -it’s so much more than beautiful , utterly beautiful music, it’s so , so much more. The genius of Thomas Newman.
Somehow this music makes your brain think about your whole life and what it meant, just as the movie American Beauty did, and what it would be like without you...deep
American Beauty, Shawshank Redemption, Scent of a Woman, Road to Perdition, beautiful soundscapes that makes you look at the big picture, reflect on your failings as a human being, question the unjusts of our world, makes you cry.
when i hear it i don't know what to do i feel i am lost in life ,think about alot of wrong decision who i take it , think about my damn past , i know it impossible to living without bad decisions but it's so hard to thinking about it hope one day we can living in peace and joy 🐝
Masterpiece. This is one of less things from the 21st Century which will be everlasting. A Classic masterpiece in a total commercial time where nothing lasts longer than few month.
Listening to this music, I remember what a happy childhood I had. I feel lonely right now, and suddenly I like being like this. and I like that, the more you grow up, the more problems you have.. In the front there is still a lot of problems, no understand will my soul that it sings. A lot of people think that I'm not capable of anything, but I realized that other people's opinion is a flying fly..
This type of music takes me away from the drama in the world 🌎. I sit back and listen and think of great things we have going on Nature for one. I block out negativity and enjoy the beauty we have
It reminds me of daydreaming. Sitting some place ordinary, waiting for something common, waiting for it to be my turn to do something I don't care about and then a bit of sunlight warms my arm as I look out the window and I slip off, unintentionally, through a doorway into a lovely warm place, unguided, timeless, until they call my name. He makes daydream music.
I believe the idea behind the crafting of this theme is exactly what you all are describing. That's the main provocation Sam Mendes wants to make and Newman channels it in a way that not only improves this feeling but scores perfectly what we see on-screen. Find beauty in random things, guys. Nature is random and so is life too.
You made a wonderful compilation of this track and your memories from a nice holiday! It is one of my favorite ones on TH-cam. I hope you can enjoy these peacefull days again and again just by watching. At least myself is able to get close by that while watching and listening. Thank you!!!
This piece of music reminds me of: Halo series, mass effect, Gears of War or Fallout series. Which I knew why. Seems like it belongs to one of them, I know it doesn't and it's from a film, but still.
The first time I heard this (I had not seen the movie and didn't know where it was from nor who wrote it), I had the image of looking out a back patio, raised, early in the morning around dawn, at a lone tree on a pale grassy embankment, surrounded by a light fog, with the landscape disappearing soon into the distance. It was as if I had died, and realized all the sorrow, pain, disappointment, hardship, loss, grief, failure, regret, trauma, struggle, worry, fear, anxiety.... were gone ... and I had made it safely home ... to heaven.
I couldnt listen to this when me and the wife split up. It reduced me to a blubbering wreck... took a few years to enjoy it again. Its a beautiful piece of music
I imagine hearing this on a cool breezy night in New York City, in an apartment off Greenwich St. the streets dimly lit from street lights, the moon and stars shining bright, the few clouds slowly passing by glowing from the moon, feeling the breeze through an opened window as I hear people walking by as they talk about the kind of day they had. 🌃
It is from the music soundtrack to the movie 'American Beauty', and the composer is Thomas Newman. This man, this beautiful soul, this gift from God, touches our hearts and souls in such an enchanting way, it really is hard to put into words. But then that's what some music does, it transcends this physical realm we live in, and especially with Thomas's music, let's us know that there is something more than this world we currently live in.
When i listen to Thomas Newmans score they always take me back to some mystery events or legends in the 1920 or 30´s (like Road to perdition or The green mile). This guy is easy "THE GUY TO CALL" if you want to make that kind of movie. He gives that kind of amazing feeling of unexplanations to it (was it dream or reality?) which i love with well made films.
This song is heard in the Road to Pardision, starring Tom Hanks and Paul Newman. The song has a solem feel and does make you review your life and time on this planet. But for most it helps you to appreciate life. You tend to remember those that have past and how much you miss and love them.
th-cam.com/video/-fQ8l9pBad8/w-d-xo.html re you asking if there's a longer version - I think this is but it's slowed down which I think makes it even more impactful.
I never wanted to play games or to use rational thinking in my relationships. I just want a girl with whom I could throw all those strategies away, let go of my defenses and watch the sunset together. Someone with whom I could just be myself and feel safe, and welcome her entirely as well. No masks, no holding backs. Two birds flying across the sea. Two aurora rays dancing playfully. Just holding hands and sitting back. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.
I have a great friend - wonderful person - who was in his middle-30's and had never had a girlfriend... he waited, and waited until SHE showed up. He's very happily married with an amazing young daughter. She will come to you in time.
She isn’t coming back, I won’t ever see her again ….. I wish her love and hope she is happy- she doesn’t deserve to be alone or feel alone …. Not her fault someone traumatized her, hurt her…. I pray for her to heal from past wounds, chose to heal. I wanted forever with her. Sickness or in health love, as is love…. She may not love me back but with all my heart pray each day for her amazing loving kind heart & soul to find love/peace again…. She get night terrors- I’d whisper-everything is ok - I’m here ,you’re safe ,go back to sleep in person or on FT. Her beauty -Van Gogh like beauty --starry night 🌌 like beauty…. Inside and out beauty…. Fell for her hard…. Her soul… her heart … amazing laugh/smile of hers ….. her petite height … everything….grew up alone being alone, never felt/knew what loneliness was until us not talking anymore….Love you LM / LL Always ⚡️
"I was asked once why I never joined them, the others I mean, when they left. well it was because I'd been ostrasized. by my own hand, I plucked myself from their hearts. and there was no... symbolic palm placed on my shoulder, no person or partner to comfort me. I'd imagined myself hudled down in a void. just my own anguish and my thoughts. it was horrible, but i never frowned... even now. strange, no? I don't know... it never felt right to feel misheveld. three of my friends dead, the others had come to hate me. even now, in a new circle that has accepted me... I am alone. why am I smiling, you ask? well, after I spared His life, I made a promise that I would never allow myself to hate that much ever again. I did it as your brother's dying wish, did you know that? as he bled in my arms. i still feel like they were right... but why in the world would you ever want to hate someone that much? I had the pistol to His head and... and I just couldn't do it anymore. I'd had enough hate for one lifetime... If He had died that day... maybe it would all be different. maybe I would be different. maybe you all would have forgave me..."
Hey don't give upon hope, sounds extremely painful to understand ones emotional turmoil. There is always redemption at the end of it all. Keep thy spirits high.
In the maelstrom of life what is the important elements we need to be fleetingly whole.......what can we discard in order to be at some attainable peace........as you age it becomes self evident...........the sense of being becomes all to clear
This is the strangest thing. I know I’ve never heard this song before, but I feel like it’s been occupying a corner of my mind all my life without my knowing. It FEELS like nostalgia somehow.
BrookeMcMenemy it reminds me of exactly that too! I think maybe they used very similar music or maybe even a snippet of this, because I swear I’ve heard this in h2o
This makes me think of the boy with the kind brown eyes and warm smile I met in Costa Rica last year. I only sat across a table and spoke to him for 10 minutes. But I knew I could trust him with my soul. His name was Alex. Dear God, should it be possible, in the realm of this life, might I see him again...👁👁
This song helps me think back to my childhood when life was simpler. No responsibilities or real world expectations. Just the expectation to be a good boy, do my school work and enjoy life. It feels like yesterday.

th-cam.com/video/-fQ8l9pBad8/w-d-xo.html re you asking if there's a longer version - I think this is but it's slowed down which I think makes it even more impactful.
Magnificent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had one like that once. We were together for six years and it was unlike any other relationship I ever experienced. Worth waiting for..

I see waves and people walking by, and yet the boats do not move at all from the wave action?
Yes they do stare at them long enough you'll see it
Dear blackbull, could you please tell me the name of this beautiful holiday spot?

Nitronica art - it’s the same composer. Thomas Newman.

If He had died that day... maybe it would all be different. maybe I would be different. maybe you all would have forgave me..."
whats this from?
my minds eye
me. was gonna edit it into a book i wrote once but decided differently.
American Beauty
Hey don't give upon hope, sounds extremely painful to understand ones emotional turmoil. There is always redemption at the end of it all. Keep thy spirits high.
Thank you
Wonderful. Where's the location of these little houses that are like bright on the beach or the ocean line??
In the maelstrom of life what is the important elements we need to be fleetingly whole.......what can we discard in order to be at some attainable peace........as you age it becomes self evident...........the sense of being becomes all to clear
Spectacular...
This is the strangest thing. I know I’ve never heard this song before, but I feel like it’s been occupying a corner of my mind all my life without my knowing. It FEELS like nostalgia somehow.
I understand exactly what you talking about. But I think that maybe you’re recognizing it from the soundtrack of Nemo that sounds a lot like this one
I added the sound of ocean waves to this.
This takes me to such a wonderful place but so many people around me with no soul who just don’t get it.
Pure merveille💝🙏
this reminds me of my childhood show like h20:just add water or something 😂😂 or just a warm ocean connection
BrookeMcMenemy it reminds me of exactly that too! I think maybe they used very similar music or maybe even a snippet of this, because I swear I’ve heard this in h2o
Love that series😊❤🙂
This dude does soundtrack for American Beauty and Series of Unfortunate Events
Gnossienne’s? That’s what takes me to those charts
This song makes me so upset about what it would be if I'm gone
you definitely gotta watch American Beauty
Am i the only one who associates this to finding nemo?
Because they were written by the same person. Two different movie soundtracks thought (American Beauty is this).
YES!
The original came out for American Beauty back in 99 and then it was used again in Nemo much later
@@MrDask14 I'm sorry but you are mistaken. The American Beauty soundtrack wasn't used in Finding Nemo at all.
Same composer
This makes me think of the boy with the kind brown eyes and warm smile I met in Costa Rica last year. I only sat across a table and spoke to him for 10 minutes. But I knew I could trust him with my soul. His name was Alex. Dear God, should it be possible, in the realm of this life, might I see him again...👁👁
