Just purchased my mower. I'm NOT a mechanical type of guy. HOWEVER, you did a wonderful job of making everything easy to understand. Thank you so very much!!!
I bought this exact model zero turn mower and I love it. The cut looks professional. It will not clog with the huge exhaust chute. It's also great on gas. This model tages a little over 4 gallons of gas and I was able to cut a 1 1/2 acre at least 4 times before having to refill the gas tank. It's comfortable as hell. So if you're looking for a zero turn mower, this is it.
Also my local dealer leaves there mowers outside in the rain. Until there sold. The same thing happens at home depot and lowes. So John Deere says not to use water but it sure not practiced before the sale
Thank you for the review...I just bought a Z530R and had no idea how to operate my new toy...your review has made me aware of the things I had no idea my tractor had.
Great video explaining as I'm considering this model. My Z445 has died after 15 years, only problems were spindle wear so hope that design has improved.
Great video Brent! Love the Z lawn mowers! John Deere makes the best! Once again lots of great information! You do a great job putting the information out there! Thanks for sharing! Have a great and awesome day!
I ordered a Z530M today, going to get delivered tomorrow. Hope it last as long as my Z445 did. That was a great mower with no issues. Gotta stick with those Kawai's when it comes to mower engines.
One thing it needs is when you push seat over to look under it..it needs to lock..i folded seat over to the front and strong wind came and slammed it back down and almost hit me in the head when i was checking oil filter for leaks from that angle. Also wish they have a shute holder on the up position for loading into small trailer or door way into shed. The scalper wheels i put wing nuts on them bolts for quick take off to move them up or down. Love the mower its a beast with the Kawasaki engine and that pedal to move deck up is great.
Excellent review and video. You are very knowledgeable and explain in easy to understand instructions. I did learn a some things from changing transmission if mower is stuck and positions of front wheel for different mower heights. I have my 2nd Z540M. The only thing I dislike is where the oil filter is located to change. Very difficult to get at. Now JD have placed a drainage hose and bracket to obstruct filter change even more. I never had a problem where the oil drainage plug was located before with any type of oil mess. If there was a dab of oil just wipe with a rag. Especially difficult oil filter change first time from manufacturer. The filter is put on so tight. I use a wide mouth pliers to get oil filter off with a lot of muscle and mumbling. The oil strap didn't work for me to get oil filter off. JD should of reinvented oil filter location and left oil drainage plug alone. And I'm a woman doing the oil change and service. I noticed the air cleaner is lacking a black foam filter like mine has on it in this video. Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.

Just a comment on the dimensions you stated in the video. You said the mower without deck is 46.6". but, you also said for the 48" deck the width is 43.9"!
With these reviews could you also briefly mention what optional equipment is available e.g. sprayer, trailer hitch, grass catcher, spreader, etc. and also could you cover how to remove/install the deck?
Yes, I usually do a completely separate video over all attachments for the series of mower and then do a set of maintenance videos, including deck removal on our other channel 247Parts. Thanks for watching and stay tuned!

Just picked up my z530m today started it up and loaded it on the trailer just fine got home and tried to u load it and couldn’t get it started? Is there a fuel shut off valve? It cranks but won’t start choked it and gave it some throttle but no luck
There is not a fuel shut off but did the dealer or place you bought it from put fuel in it? I know this sounds crazy but sometimes these mowers get sent out with hardly any fuel in them so this could be your issue.
@@WesternEquipment it was my fault warm weather does wonders it was too cold out so I put the nipco on if for half an hour choked it and it fired up 🤦♂️
Thank you for this video, Brent! I am struggling to find a bagger for this mower with the 60inch acceldeck, can you bag with the 60 inch deck? Thank you!

Honestly this is all based of of wants, needs, and the amount of money you are willing to spend. The cheapest mowers are the S100 series and then they go up from there. All of these mowers can last if they are well taken care of. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!

@@WesternEquipment when I follow the steps to lower it with pushing the pedal, putting pin and pushing yellow button it doesn’t go smoothly as if it gets stuck on the safety height or stays at the height it’s on but works when I lift up the deck
Great video! One question though. You mention using air and not using water to clean the top of the deck because water could develop rust. Wouldn’t the bottom of the deck develop rust too, if you use the wash out port?
Thats true also. But JD rather you not use water on top because of bearings and such. I always use my blower to clean mine after cutting and use water once a year when putting it up for the winter. But after using water I blow off the water with my blower. Never leave it sitting.
Yes, it would but after using the wash out port you should always leave your blades running for a while to ensure the underside dries. Good question and thanks for watching!

I have a John Deere Z445 and over the years the foam type handles have slipped down on the hand bars about 6 inches. Would appreciate any fix for this.
You may have to either cut them off and replace them of try to work them back up into position and then find something to wrap around the handle bar to keep them from slipping down, maybe some tape? I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I just got one a month ago. I love it . The ride is excellent. I’m not as sore after mowing . Be sure to get a Kawasaki engine in the z500 series . Which the z530 m and z 540r do
Hey great vid. I took delivery of this model a week ago, I just noticed my 48 inch does not have the front dual rollers on deck. Is this something I should consider adding on or is ok the way it is?! Thx
If it doesn’t have the front rollers but does have the brackets then I would definitely add them. They are relatively inexpensive and will aid in the performance of your mower and cut quality. Good question and thanks for watching!
Loved my z530m when I bought it. Unfortunately it lasted 32.1 hours (Less than 2 years) before the transaxles on both sides started making horrendous whining noises. Wish I would have bought it from you guys, but unfortunately I was living in another state at the time. I was hoping that by spending good money for a mower it would be dependable but now I don’t know what to do.
So I bought it from Home Depot in TN before moving back to Oklahoma. Home Depot’s response is to reach out to John Deere customer service or find an authorized dealer. So they pretty much wash their hands of you after delivery is made.
Oil change serviceable axle drive transmissions is the most important point. Greaseable spindles, pivots, caster bearings all add up to long life reliability . Agree with the rounded deck design. Best air and grass flow. Dont park your machine outside⚠️⚠️⚠️
I would start by checking the hydraulic fluid and filters and then if you’re still having trouble I would check with your local dealer. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
First of all, don't be so hard on yourself haha. I would try the Z500 series and up. Maybe go to the dealership nearest you and sit on one of each and see which is the most comfortable for you. Thanks for watching!
Yes they are fine! All John Deere mowers are built in either Tennessee or Wisconsin in the John Deere factories. There is a misconception that some are made by other manufacturers but that is not the case. Thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment Thank you for your reply,! I noticed the front casters assembly don't have a grease zerk to pump grease? Are we supposed to remove the bolt and manually add after X hours?
Hey Brent when I turn my mower to the on position it has e33. Do you know what that means? My mower does not show the amount of fuel when I turn the key in the on position either.
So this is a fuel level sensor code. You may need to replace the sensor but a technician would have to look at it to know for sure. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I’m guessing Rotella Z rod 10 W 40 and they are synthetic hydraulic fluid would make the thing last a very long time including their grease. It’s almost impossible to rinse off and can stand tremendous heat and friction and load so you can get 20 years out of it.
Airflow within the deck is not a good selling point when strength is the trade off. Airflow is not as critical as the stamped deck’s inferior strength. They get bent, when that happens blades go out of alignment with each other causing a poor uneven cut across the width of the deck. If you have a pristine level lawn no problem, however if have a variety of surfaces and rough uneven terrain or have to occasionally bump into things you cannot count on durability over time. I want something bulletproof, this is not. It’s cheap and a manufacturer shortcut. If it weren’t for that I would strongly consider purchasing JD, but the stamped deck is a deal breaker. I have a JD conventional lawn tractor that has a bent deck.
I needs some help . Are there any salvage yards across the country that deal with usedhoods for John Deere . I’m looking for the whole used hood setup for x360 . Has anyone seen any websites?
Brent, It looks like John Deere has changed their website to reflect the 2023 lineup and it looks like the z530m or the z5 series has now got a Green Deck vs a Yellow Deck. Do you have any info on what else might have changed for the 2023 models?
Why is my john Deere z530 ztrak tuning off while im cutting grass its strats to stutter then it shuts off my mower only has 33 hrs on it its brand new 2023.
Doesn’t make much sense John Deere says only use air to clean top of deck. Use water underneath to clean. You get chips and dings underneath. The bottom is gonna get rust with that water clean out. I have mowed with my new z 500 series about 5 times . I just don’t trust a water clean out underneath . I always mow when grass is dry
I see where you are coming from but if the cleaning is done correctly under the deck then there should be a drying period after the cleaning is done to prevent any rusting or further damage.
Nothing to do with this video, but I have a question. I'm about to purchase a new JD 3025e with FEL and backhoe. I'll be using this for moving dirt and leveling/maintaining my property (less than 10 acres) I'll be using a Frontier 60" BB & pallet forks, but no PTO implements for the foreseeable future. Would 25hp be too little for this tractor? I'm pulled towards the 3025 due to the lack of any emissions & price. My dealer has plenty of 3032's available as well, but as I said emissions, whatever machine I use will be sitting and running for extended periods of time so I fear the DPF on an emissions tractor will fill quickly. Is this a valid concern for a machine that'll be doing alot of backhoe work? ANY advice would be much appreciated before I make my purchase here in a few days.
I would honestly look into a bit higher horse power. The good thing is with the DPF system you can keep working even if the exhaust is cleaning. I would play it safe and go with more HP rather than wishing you had it later on. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment Thank you very much for the reply! I did however already purchase the 3025e, my dealer had a really good package deal on it. I should have it all in about a week. Thanks again!
Good question. I know that John Deere is constantly working on improving their products and changing things up so I'm sure it was just all a part of that.
Hate orange throttle and brake lever looks like child's toy. Also, hate the stamped metal deck with low mounted pulleys for 5k; it seems very under par compared to the rest of the market. Like the john deere dealers and their service great 4 year warranty, however my sale rep in my area not educated on the equipment he's trying to sell. Another dislike for me is the john deere sticker slapped on kawasaki motor. Plus john deere transmission they designed rather then going with the transmissions 90% of other commercial mowers are using. They seem to be going in an independent direction rather than trying to compete with leading commercial manufactures like Skagg, Ex mark Toro, gravely, grass hopper etc. All seem to have better build quality than the deere... tons of plastic on the deere weird slanted front mounted wheels... the list goes on. People buy these and other John Deere products for that green and yellow paint.
@Andrew Wolford thanks for leaving a comment we always appreciate everybody’s thoughts. You have some good points and everybody seems to have different uses and needs that their mowers need to perform. I hear a lot of Deere mowers around for over 20 years and still running but there isn’t an argument on resale value. It’s something most of us don’t think about until upgrading mowers. That’s not important to everybody but selling your Deere on Facebook marketplace in 10 years will bring more than all the previous brands. I’ve seen brands and dealer support come and go but you can bank on dealer support from Deere. Thanks again for your point of view, we love hearing it all.

So this is a fuel level sensor code. You may need to replace the sensor but a technician would have to look at it to know for sure. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Thank you for the response.
What do you do when it will stay running
What do you do when the zturn will not stay running
what about the gague how do you replace it
I'm not sure what you mean?
@@WesternEquipment the hour and fuel gauge meter
Very helpful.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
I needs some help . Are there any salvage yards across the country that deal with usedhoods for John Deere . I’m looking for the whole used hood setup for x360 . Has anyone seen any websites?
I will be following this too!
Looks like a pretty decent mower and that seat looks great. Are the transmissions serviceable?
There does not show to be a filter on these transmissions. Only a fluid reservoir.
Nope, non-serviceable. It's also a stamped deck turd.
Excellent!!
Thank you and glad you liked it!
Brent, It looks like John Deere has changed their website to reflect the 2023 lineup and it looks like the z530m or the z5 series has now got a Green Deck vs a Yellow Deck. Do you have any info on what else might have changed for the 2023 models?
Yes, this is true. As far as I know, this is the only change to the Z5 lineup for ‘23.
How hard is it to actually change the belts on one of those?
It is not bad at all since the foot platform can be removed to get to the underside of the deck. Good question and thanks for watching!
Why is my john Deere z530 ztrak tuning off while im cutting grass its strats to stutter then it shuts off my mower only has 33 hrs on it its brand new 2023.
Ain’t got no gas in it.
@@tylerguild489 uh huh hhhh lol 🤣
Doesn’t make much sense John Deere says only use air to clean top of deck. Use water underneath to clean. You get chips and dings underneath. The bottom is gonna get rust with that water clean out. I have mowed with my new z 500 series about 5 times . I just don’t trust a water clean out underneath . I always mow when grass is dry
I see where you are coming from but if the cleaning is done correctly under the deck then there should be a drying period after the cleaning is done to prevent any rusting or further damage.
This thing doesnt start, weird
Why doesn’t John Deere make the 757 zero turn any more
Good question. I know that John Deere is constantly working on improving their products and changing things up so I'm sure it was just all a part of that.
Ok
I'm transitioning all my Deere equipment to Kubota, Deere is out of touch with price and quality
I am always open to hearing all opinions. What quality issues are you struggling with on the John Deere equipment?
