Hallo, I am watching from Cape Town South Africa, and only recently started slow stitching, I am loving it. In South Africa, we have a DOT CONCEPT - which is Do One Thing every day to impact a life - smile at a stranger, feed a homeless person, bless a child, do something practical and non-expensive to DOT every day. So I would make these wonderful dot mats and hand them out to random people and encourage them to keep the concept going ... love your show!
Omgosh, You're not going to believe this, I've been fooling around with the letters to come up with a word to do just this! I LOVE IT! How wonderful! I just wrote it down and your name. Thank you for mentioning it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
When I needle turn appliqué I use a wooden toothpick to turn the fabric under the wooden tooth pick clings to the fabric so much better and make it easier to turn the fabric under. Greetings from New Zealand.
This is hands down the best demonstration of needle turned appliqué I’ve seen. And you don’t talk too much at all. Your conversation and side bars are what make your videos so good. Thank you ❤
These dots may be perfect for my short attention span! Having all the pieces ready in a basket (as you showed in part 1) so when I want to do a little something it doesnt seem as daunting or huge commitment of time on a day I cant focus long. Love your instructions, very clear and no excess chatter. Thank you!
Well, the bots at TH-cam finally got it right when they recommend your videos on my feed page! It is SO lovely to have found you. I have recently been drawn (back) to "earthtones" more and more - quite a departure from my usual bright pinks, teals, cobalts... A friend shared that these are "grounding" colours. Considering the chaos in the world of late, "grounding" ~ alongside balance and peaceful escape ~ seem to be exactly what we need. Thank you for providing the inspiration for us. I tend to envision grandiose projects that I have no time to finish, or even start for that matter. These wee squares and little circles are portable and "finish-able" which is perfect, because who wants to start something they are convinced they can't finish? As for the folks who feel compelled to say you talk too much, I have a few thoughts. In the interest of being charitable, I offer them these thoughts: 1.) There is a mute button. If you need sound but you only care about learning specific techniques, you have the option of scrolling past the *friendly human interaction* parts and just watching the information you want. 2.) If you possess enough hubris to sit and complain about someone who is sharing inspiration and education *free of charge*, then one can only surmise that you also possess an equal amount of expertise in the subject. In that case, perhaps your time would be better spent producing and sharing *your own video content* rather than trampling our collective enjoyment.
Hi Crazy Aunt Val, love that name! I actually saw your comment this morning and fell in love with it and so I wanted to keep it where I could easily find it again, which is right here in my unanswered comments. LOL I've copy pasted it now... The grounding color thing makes so much sense to me and is when I need peace and serenity I choose these colors. When I am feeling excited I tend towards the brights. The second part of your comment is wonderful and I will use it next time someone says i talk too much, LOL And FYI, I've been trying to TimeStamp my videos so yes, people can fast forward to the right spot. You do not talk too much, some of us need and appreciate having someone talk to us especially about stitch things. Love the idea of small, portable hand project for those times when too tired for sitting at the machine. Thank you. ❤. Where can we find these threads?
You can find any of these threads on Amazon OR in your local sewing shop. And THANK YOU for saying I don't talk too much. I was telling Brian today I was overthinking my editing because a few people said I talk too much, and I found I was feeling like I had to keep editing, it took me HOURS. I have to stop that! I'ts my overthinking and wanting to make everyone happy I guess. So thank you! See even I need to be reminded of things! I inspire you, you inspire me! ox ♥️♥️♥️
Please, please never stop talking! It is one of the main reasons I love coming here. It is like being a part of a sewing circle. Finding your channel inspired me to suggest to a couple of my crafty friends in our small group of retired school librarian to have a bring-your-own-project crafting session after our monthly luncheons. They thought it was a great idea so we have our first one next week!! I even found a large bundle of beading and cross stitch kits for $2 at a thrift store for the crafting-curious in the group. I am also planning on sharing your channel with everyone. I have done needwork all my life although I have difficulty with my left thumb now so it is harder for me. A hoop really helps. I'm hoping I can get some things prepared for them for the next month so we can all do some slow stitching. 😊

I love your wall hanging (?) or whatever you may end up doing. I adore circles and want to do this so much, but I still have some quilts to finish for my children as I am 78 and who knows, right? These circles and the quilt blocks you have already made are such an inspiring way to honor your mother. I made a quilt for my youngest son from the cotton clothes he loved when he was 11-12 years (he's 46 now). It was a struggle , but worth it! I started embroidering when I was 16, later I added sewing for my daughter, son and myself along with home projects. When I started working, I began cross stitch and eventually developed carpal tunnel and tennis elbow, so I gave up cross stitch since I needed my wrists for my job! I took up quilting and gardening and really gardened and did many home projects more than anything. NOW ..... I'm tired and the plants look terrible, but I must prioritize and make sure all my children (3) have at least one quilt especially for them. At least you started your projects a little sooner than I and will be able to enjoy them for many years. Love your creativity!

I love hearing you talk, I deal with depression daily which has kept me out of my craft room far too long. When I watch your video it’s like visiting with a friend and may be I will get inspired to return to my once favorite room. Thanks for the GREAT and well explained videos. Coming to you from Northern California . 🙃
Hi Joan, I am sending inspirational hugs to you right this minute! I pray that you will consider getting something started and if you do, please come back and tell me about it! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Thank you for your honest comment.
@@JeriBellini I am in the same boat as Joan--and sewing and painting are the only things that ease my depression--it is kind of like magic, but I do stop doing it sometimes, then it's hard to get started again. Sometimes I have to set a timer for 30 minutes and "make" myself paint or sew, and that helps. I agree with Joan, Jeri, I love listening to you and you explain things so well, I think I am finally going to try to tackle applique!! Circles will be the exact right thing to start with. Thank you, and wishing you the absolute best, Joan, from me in Southern California.

Just finished watching Part 2. I am in love with this project, & I cannot wait to start my own! Thank you so very much for sharing Dot-A-Day with us! 🤗
I was checking out embroidery channels this morning on TH-cam. Came across part one of 'Dots'. No hesitation hitting subscribe button. Your a delight to watch and be watching more.
I'm brand new to your channel. Yes, I would love to see your selection of books you treasure. I loved the tour of your tiny house art studio. It was awesome. I am making fabric collage pieces. Your dots may be challenging for me but I will give it a try.
Welcome!! I'm so glad you're here and dont feel like your dots have to be perfect. It's all about the journey not the destination. Happy Yellow Monday! 💛
Absolutely love your videos just come across it now. Watching from Australia. Love the idea of a dot a day and thank you for sharing your tips and designs.
After watching you I think I could do this. I want to pick my own color scheme but keep the focus on the stitches. Thank you for being so methodical and showing us everything we need to know. I loved seeing your finished blocks. I need to finish another project first then I’m on to dot a day! You are so inspiring!
Hello and thanks for such an interesting channel. I am in Delaware County PA (Delco to locals) & am a newly retired CPA. I had hoped to be moved to MI by now - but life got in the way. Since retirement, I made one quilt, am half way with another and felt out of sorts. Your channel came along at the right time with the right attitude for me. I have a list of projects to work on, much of my supplies are packed up, so I had been limited until this showed up. One project is deconstructing used jeans and fixing the holes & thin areas with embroidery and/or fabric scraps. I will make quilts from this and combine the crazy fabric I made with scrap fabric. I also draw and paint and have a couple of projects for this. Thanks again, I look forward to adding this to my skill set and find new ways to incorporate this into my other fabric work.
Loving your idea! I've begun to make the circles and squares, a little bit differently but I’m enjoying how they’re turning out! I’ve just set myself a target of 25 squares probably just made when I feel like it! I could make more or that might be enough for now! No rules just going with what’s fun to make!! Thank you for sharing your ideas!
Excited to find you! Alex Anderson of the Quilt Show mentioned you on her show today and told us to check out your work. Love this dot a day. Your tutorial is great as I’m a beginner for embroidery. Pretty sure I can do this as you make it look so easy.
@@KarenGiese Thank you Karen, I found it and was tickled to see that she's making dots too! I love that they are speading out all over the world, far and wide! 💜
HiJeri, it’s lovely to meet you. So pleased your channel has popped up! I’m a crafter, I knit and crochet, but have never quilted. This looks like great fun, and I have already watched part one. Thanks for sharing your ideas, and I look forward to learning more from your videos. Greetings from the UK❤️🇬🇧
Really loving this project Jeri. I have never done embroidery, always thought it was too difficult (plus I’m not good at hand sewing), but you’ve really inspired me to have a go. Your videos always brighten my day, thank you 😊

Each section is small and portable like your circles, i take my stitching nearly everywhere with me so these are perfect. Thankyou for sharing❤
I am so grateful for your videos, for the whole atmosphere of them as well as the content. I have been looking for a way to embellish my clothing - all sewn myself - without complicated embroidery. This is it! It’s beautiful and just my style and will help me learn a new craft. Thank you for the inspiration🥰

I would love you to do a book review! I'm always looking for inspiration that way. Great tutorial on applique. Thank you. Also, thank you for the dot play list on how to embellish them. You're awesome!

Hi from Australia, you have inspired me to create your beautiful dots. As a long time quilter it is a very different pattern for me, very modern which is something I have avoided but the colours and concept have really inspired me. Many thanks from Queensland

It was lovely sitting here with you! I've never been brave enough to try applique before, but perhaps it is time. You made it sound much less scary than I imagined!
It's really not that horrible. I'm going to post an 11 minute Needle Turn Applique video tomorrow. Just follow what I tell you and you'll be off and running! 💜💜💜
Thanks for the great demo. I’ve got tons of scraps to do a dot project so I’m going to working on my hand Stitching skills. Can’t wait to see your other dots and designs
Hi Jeri, I have just watched the two parts of your Dot a Day, a number of times. I am truly inspired. I plan to make a number of prepared squares and dots to the cottage this summer to work on. I will have to learn how to do the embroidery part, since that is a new craft for me. I am a quilter, knitter, spinner, weaver, etc. but not perfect at anything. I love how you encourage to just do. I am wondering how you will finish off all of your 300+ squares together?
Wow! You covered a lot in this video. What great information. I love that you showed how you embellished all the dots Wish I had thought of using the invisible basting stitch. Then it can be left in. I will do that from now on. So - I want to make mine into a quilt eventually. What do you think of adding batting before embellishing? Then when the backing is added I would just add some straight quilting next to the joined blocks. The other option is just make all the squares and join them and then add batting and backing as if it was a traditionally pieced quilt. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks again for a great project!
I would embellish them first with the idea that I was going to do some additional quilting. So the dots themselves would have stitching on them but leave around them for the quilting later. (If you wanted to leave the very center of the dot without embellishment and do a tie thing in there to make sure the dots were secured down, but that would just be a matter of choice) I'm kinda working all this out with my moms quilt blocks. I'm quilting as I go but often embellishing the top first if that makes sense. Check out that video I think i put a link in this dot video to her quilt. ♥️
@@JeriBellini Thanks for your thoughts! That makes a lot of sense. Off to watch your video with your mom's quilt blocks. Oh - also I changed my colors from neutrals to blues, aqua and white. I have a lot of thrifted men's shirts I am going to use. Thanks again!
I am so looking forward to starting my Dot-A-Day. Now to figure out what colors of scraps to use and do I want to go all wild and mix colors or do a color theme. Decisions decisions. I find that while using two strands of floss or thread, I use a used dryer sheet and pull my threads through a fold used dryer sheet. It conditions the thread, reduces static, and smooths things out. I learned this from a doll maker who embroidered faces on her dolls
Hi.. this is so lovely I’ve made three so far … you can take it into the garden .. on the train .. in the car .. on the beach .. so travel friendly.. I’ve a little bag set myself up with a “grab bag” to go .. wonderful thank you for the inspiration.. Bernie UK X
@@JeriBellini I think I might try it with hexagons -- not with papers but hexagons from a circle (folded with a stitch in the center, kind of like origami ) then add to a square and embellish. yours are absolutely beautiful.
@@JeriBellini That is such a great idea, Jeri! You totally should! Would love to see you make one. Love you dots. I might have to switch around a monthly theme prompt for my stitch book projects to do that. Which I think I will!

k3n’s slow stitch project this week is based partially on your Dot-A-Day work. And Alex Anderson mentioned on her live show today that she’s using your Dot-A-Day to learn needle turn appliqué. I just love these! Thank you for sharing all those wonderful embellishments. They are beautiful. These little blocks and dots are exactly what I would enjoy doing. I am an oil painter but I also love quilting and like to have some handwork going on the side. This will definitely be something I will be trying soon. I have seen lots of videos with creative projects, but this one is right for me. Thanks again!
This one is such an easy start, make a few or make a bunch! ❤️❤️❤️
@@stingray101010 Hello dear Joan, I'm sending you hugs too, to get the dot project going. It's such a small portable project. It got me going again and I hope it does the same for you. ❤❤❤
Great video, you are a great teacher. Beautiful stitching and creativity. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much! I'm so grateful for everyone! ♥️
Love your stitching, easy hand work when you just want something small to work with. There is no limits what one can do. Love it.
Thank you! ♥️♥️♥️

Awesome! Thank you! Welcome, I'm glad you're here! 💜💜💜

After watching you I think I could do this. I want to pick my own color scheme but keep the focus on the stitches. Thank you for being so methodical and showing us everything we need to know. I loved seeing your finished blocks. I need to finish another project first then I’m on to dot a day! You are so inspiring!
YAY! Have fun with the color! 💜💜💜
I just started mine today and want you to know I really enjoyed your first video and I'm looking forward to the second one!
Awesome! ♥️♥️♥️
So glad you're here! Welcome!!! And thank you for leaving a comment!! 💜💜💜
❤❤❤awesome project thank you❤❤❤
You are so welcome! 💜
I'm beyond thrilled to discover you. I figured out that I will use the dot technique to embellish my jacket.Blessings to you.
That sounds like FUN! 💜💜💜
Great video. Love all of it👏👍🧡
Thank you Anita! ❤️
No Rules is right! Do YOUR thing and please post and hashtag! #jeribellinidotaday thank you for being here! ❤️
Just loving 🧡your varied commentary and your dot a day has inspired me …. Thank you so much
I'm so glad! Thanks for hanging out with me! 💜
Thank you so much Jeri, that’s the best and most helpful tutorial I’ve ever seen on appliqué circles!
You are SO welcome! 💜💜💜
Thank you for sharing some of your amazing stitching and clear instructions. Textiles are my life long joy and now I have a new use for them!
Wonderful! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video! 💜
Your dot work is just so cool! I think a chain stitch would be nice going around the dot, have you done that? Enjoying your videos very much!
No I have not, but I will now! 💜💜💜
You needle turn appliqué like I do. I love it. Thank you…🧵🪡🧵
You are so welcome! I'm going to show a few alternatives too for those that really struggle with the way I do it. 💜
Love these. Love hand stitching…especially when I can take it out on my deck and enjoy the beautiful weather. Thank you for sharing this.😊
You are so welcome! And that's exactly what I always did, take it out on the deck! Enjoy! 💜
What a wonderful way to honor your mother. These are so nice ❤
Thank you, I hope. you got a chance to watch the video with her quilt blocks... ♥️
Very interesting project. Thank you
You are so welcome, I hope you give it a try! 💜
Excited to find you! Alex Anderson of the Quilt Show mentioned you on her show today and told us to check out your work. Love this dot a day. Your tutorial is great as I’m a beginner for embroidery. Pretty sure I can do this as you make it look so easy.
How do I find the segment where she mentions me, I like to watch people that share my work. Thank you for being here! 💜
@@JeriBellini hopefully you got my reply
@@KarenGiese Thank you Karen, I found it and was tickled to see that she's making dots too! I love that they are speading out all over the world, far and wide! 💜

Yay! Thank you! I'm tickled to death to be able to see everyones work!
Greetings and Welcome! You are in a great community here! I'm glad I popped up and glad you're here! ❤️
I love this idea and noticed you mentioned that you would do a “playlist” of all the different stitch ideas. This would be really great! 😊
Yes, am working on that now, stay tuned!
Really loving this project Jeri. I have never done embroidery, always thought it was too difficult (plus I’m not good at hand sewing), but you’ve really inspired me to have a go. Your videos always brighten my day, thank you 😊
You are so welcome and DONT worry about your stitches, The main point is just to enjoy the process! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Im so glad that you popped up on my feed. Im sitting here making minature furniture and watching and listening. Thank you for the inspo. I recently started slow stitching with K3N clothtales she is very good at the 'ya ya' like you lol. You are a wonderful teacher. Im going to be adding circles to my very long meditation scroll. Each section is small and portable like your circles, i take my stitching nearly everywhere with me so these are perfect. Thankyou for sharing❤
Oh I love hearing this! Thank you for finding me!!! 💜💜💜
Ahhh, it's comments like yours that keep me going! Thank you! 💜💜💜
I'm so very happy I stumbled onto your channel! I've watched both parts 1 & 2 and will again. Going through all my scraps tonight. I am excited to get started! Thank you for the tutorial.
OH YAY!!! I'm so glad you are enjoying the content! Have fun with the project! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Glad you enjoyed it I love making videos for my peeps! ♥️
I am loving your dots!!! So fun and beautiful! I would love to see them all!
Thank you! I'm going to start a playlist and do some embellishing for inspiration for you guys. 💜
I would love you to do a book review! I'm always looking for inspiration that way. Great tutorial on applique. Thank you. Also, thank you for the dot play list on how to embellish them. You're awesome!
You are so welcome! And I have a list started of my fav books. ❤️
Thank you Jeri! I don’t think you talk too much. It’s like having a friend to stitch with. Can’t wait to start on my own dots! Looking forward to embellishment videos.
You are so welcome! I am so grateful for you! ❤️❤️❤️

Perfect Winter project with Kimono fabric I have.

Thank you! I am sweating a LOT here in NJ, USA... I'm locked in my AC Tiny House creating away! 💜💜💜
Just found you Jeri and keen to follow you. I do like your ethos! Aging creatively and gratefully is exactly my cup of tea.
Hi Sharon! Thanks so much for joining! ❤️❤️❤️
Love the project!
I plan to join.
YAY! YAY! 💜
Hi from Australia, you have inspired me to create your beautiful dots. As a long time quilter it is a very different pattern for me, very modern which is something I have avoided but the colours and concept have really inspired me. Many thanks from Queensland
Yes, I get what you're saying, the shape makes it modern but the colors make it old. I love that we can combine things and make them our own! 💜
Just discovered you. I’m in south Texas. Lifelong embroiderer. I love your show.
Thank you Carol!!! 💜💜💜
Your answers are very helpful. I’m watching on a tablet so the screen is smaller and sometimes it’s harder to see than on a computer. Thank you for your great advice. I am so grateful for your advice and your tutorials and other videos. I have been watching/ listening as I’m cooking. It’s like visiting with a friend. Have a blessed day.
Ahhh, I love hearing that! Thanks for being here and spending time with me! ❤️
So much fun! Thanks
Thank you! ❤️
You have such a wonderful personality! So authentic, funny, real!
Thank you Jayne! I'm glad you're here! 💜
Wow! I’m so impressed with your appliqué! Fabulous!
Thank you so much! ❤️
Thanks for the great demo. I’ve got tons of scraps to do a dot project so I’m going to working on my hand Stitching skills. Can’t wait to see your other dots and designs
Wonderful! i'm glad you'll be joining in! 💜
Love your artwork, love this project and love your Yaya ! 😉🤎
Thank YOU!!! LOL ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Jeri,
I have just watched the two parts of your Dot a Day, a number of times.
I'm wondering that too! LOL ❤️❤️❤️ But now that everyone has inspired me I'm all in!
@@QUILTINGCHAP That sounds wonderful, I love using thrifted clothing! ♥
Jeri,
My favorite applique technique is backbasting. I think it would work very well here. 😊
Mine too! ❤️
That's so interesting about the thread! 💜 Thanks for watching and Have Fun!
The square at 30:44 with the 2 circles made me think "sun and moon". I'll have to look for that book you showed in the beginning, it looked great.
See if you can get if from the library so you can make sure you like it. Thanks for watching! ❤️
Hi.. this is so lovely I’ve made three so far … you can take it into the garden .. on the train .. in the car .. on the beach .. so travel friendly.. I’ve a little bag set myself up with a “grab bag” to go .. wonderful thank you for the inspiration.. Bernie UK X
Yes, I grab mine and go anywhere too! Thanks for being here! ❤️
Great project, thank you
I'm glad you're enjoying it! 💜
@@JeriBellini I think I might try it with hexagons -- not with papers but hexagons from a circle (folded with a stitch in the center, kind of like origami ) then add to a square and embellish. yours are absolutely beautiful.
I started a project like this after watching part one!! Needed a new “fiddly” project with small pieces now! Thanks for the inspiration.
Glad I could help! You are so welcome! ❤️
I really want to incorporate a dote a day into my daily stitch play. So many projects! 😆
I hope you will Steph! They go fast, I can see one of your cloth books in a Dot theme! How fun! I think I'll make one! 💜💜💜
@@JeriBellini That is such a great idea, Jeri! You totally should! Would love to see you make one. Love you dots.
I might have to switch around a monthly theme prompt for my stitch book projects to do that. Which I think I will!
I am so excited to find you and your channel! I'm excited to get started on your dot project!!! Love your creativity as you are very inspiring to me especially the embellishments. Thanks so much!!!!
Thank you so much! and welcome!!! ❤️
Great demo on applique, thank you!
You are welcome! ❤️
I’m so happy that you will have a playlist of ideas! 😊
I started working on it already! ❤️
k3n’s slow stitch project this week is based partially on your Dot-A-Day work. And Alex Anderson mentioned on her live show today that she’s using your Dot-A-Day to learn needle turn appliqué. Although Alex has been a professional quilter for many years, she has never done needle turn appliqué. It really is a small world. I came here to watch your Dot-A-Day videos so that I can do a better job on my k3n project this week. I’ve already watched part one, and I’m writing this comments as I watch part two.
Oh how nice, I will look in my mention section to see if I can find the YT channel you mentioned. I also just did a short video on Needle Turn applique I will be up loading it soon! Thanks for being here! 💜💜💜
Great explanations and instructions. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! ❤️
Love these!💖. An embellishment playlist will be wonderful. Also, I’d really enjoy a book review of your favorites. TY. 💖💖💖
I have my pile of books gathered! ♥️ And I'll start the playlist in a day or so.
