Not a fanboy but after seeing this car and waiting for the Cyber Truck, I gotta say it looks awesome and Tesla looks like it has achieved escape velocity.
Just got my Y. Inspected it very carefully before paying for it. Found it to be perfect in every way.I think it's the best car I've ever had and driving it is just a thrill. Well done Elon and the Tesla team.
I've had mine for 6 weeks now and it's the best car I've ever owned!...I like the fact that it looks relatively small on the outside yet it has huge storage space inside. Practical while still being sporty!
Just got our Model Y last week, white on white. I love this car, is a game changer. Friends that have tried it love besides the handling and pick-up the one pedal driving. The future is here. Embrace EV not only for the planet but for your pocket.
Have a Model 3 single motor and just got a Model Y dual motor. Both great cars. Last summer took a 9,000 mile trip around US (San Diego - Texas - Saint Louis - Niagara Falls - South Dakota - Oregon Coast - Down to San Diego) with Model 3. This summer wanted to do the same but do the Canadian highway back (Virus screwed that up) Well maybe next year with Model Y. Tesla Super Charge network was great. Drove 80%-90% on Autopilot. We sold all our Gas Guzzlers and removed all oil and gas stuff from the garage.
William Barrie I received my Model Y about a month ago and I am amazed by the vehicle. I have been driving an Audi Q 5 for several years and I thought it the best vehicle I have ever had but the Model Y is truly amazing. It was delivered without any hiccups or at least very few, A delay in getting my factory installed hitch. Took delivery of my Y last week. Love it. Has some build alignment issues (e.g., charger port door and rear hatch) that I hope they’ll rectify next week during my service appointment.
Just picked mine up today and the only issue I noticed was a tiny chip on one of the rims...other than that I didn’t notice any alignment issues (some might complain about rear seat alignment, but its barely noticeable and well within my level of acceptability.) Kinda overcast right now, but I’ll go over the paint with a fine tooth comb once the sun comes back out. As of right now I’m extremely happy. Btw it took 5 weeks from order to delivery.
Same, I bought one and drove it home, then upon closer inspection that very same day, noticed the passenger window doesn't align properly. Love the car but hope they can fix it at my service appt. this week, otherwise I'll be a very disappointed customer. Wish I had the experience all you others had, "perfect, no issues..."
Moved from a Model 3 to a All Wheel Drive, Dual Motor, Pearl White Model Y. Important note: Tesla Palm Springs, CA offered me $31k for my Model 3. I thought that to be low, considering only 2700 miles. So I took it to CarMax in Riverside, CA for an estimate. $36k! I sold it there. Model Y problems: I’m also having problems with the hatch back. It doesn’t release when handle is pressed and rubs on the right side when raised. This friction is why the handle won’t release and has to be manually raised. I have to waste time taking it in to be fixed. Very expensive car to have to do this.
Ettore Namias tesla has matured but they don’t care that a simple little fix like that happens to these cars, their mission is to help the world by getting more people into cars that decrease their carbon footprint, it’s not an electric mercedes lol
@@patrick1007 when you spend 60-100k on it they should care about their build quality. We bough a model 3 one month ago pearl white with white interior and we fell in love with Tesla sooooo I just ordered a model Y LR Blue with white and 20"s for me. Can't wait to drive it.
I just got my model Y and it is all that they say it is! I love it and I feel like it takes driving to a whole new level. I feel like it’s almost as fast as my new Chevy C8 corvette.
I am giving up my BMW X4 M with HUD. I LOVE the HUD, not just for driving but also selecting who to call, what music to play, all by rolling my thumb on steering wheel and seeing it in my direct line of vision without taking eyes off road. Its not just for GPS directions. Also for constant real time display of speed im going at and what speed limit is where im at. I love Tesla, had model S before but HUD is something they should have included
I'd say wait till they sort out their quality control for the Model Y, especially after everything goes back to normal. Other than that, Tesla cars are amazing.
I was thinking the exact same thing. My local Tesla showroom gave me a demo ride of the Model Y Performance. That thing is fast! I just don't want to pay the $20k difference with my Model 3 trade-in. I think that I will wait until Fall 2020 when the Model Y Long range comes out. I can handle the $8k difference with my Model 3 trade-in!
I've had my Y for 4 weeks and I love it! It seems that I keep finding all kinds of great things about it each day. It has made my having to sell my 2014 S a lot easier. I would add that it did make me very sad to have to sell my S but my wife said I couldn't keep both. I tried the argument that Jay Leno didn't have to sell his S when he got a Y but her response was, "but we don't have his garage!" So much for keeping them both!! I sold my S through Carvana. They offered me $10,000 more than Tesla was willing to offer. But I digress. Thanks again Elon for the great innovations!!
Going on 10 months of ownership and I can now say it’s been PERFECT. It’s now going on my second summer and a full winter and have no complaints. But then I have owned 3 Volts since 2012 and was fully aware of EV limitations and knew what to expect and how to minimized ANY range issues. Turns out the Volt was and is the PERFECT gateway EV for folks moving from ICE to BEV’s.
Love the car, but I put my order on hold for a bit. After seeing so many people showing the build quality and damage, I will wait until late fall to see if anything changes. Other than that I’m supper excited for it!
It is difficult to see out of the rear with the rear view mirror. The back passenger seats are bad the passengers hit their heads on the cross bar. You can't fit 3 adults across nicely despite extra width and we haven't seen the last row yet. Doubt that fits 3 adults either. To do it just extend the slope back a bit.
I bet the 7 seater allows the middle row to slide back and forth, that will keep passengers from touching the crossbar but you can also just not recline all the way.
We really love our Y. We have three kids and a rear facing baby. Fitting her in behind the driver is tricky. When she's able to be forward facing the car seat situation will be much better. Really wish Tesla made a van. Till then we will appreciate what we have.
Have driven mine for a couple of months and love it. Came from the factory in prefect condition. Drove my wife's Mercedes and put it in gear. It went nowhere. I forgot to start it!
I'd like to see the frunk auto close and latch. it seems that the Model 3 front hood can be damaged if one attempts to close it incorrectly. An automatically closing and latching front hood on the Y would be a worthwhile improvement, I think.
Or just make it a little thicker. I’m all for cutting weight - but it is frighteningly thin - I doubt I will use that area - worried about damaging it.
I received my Blue LR AWD Model Y at the end of April this year and traded my Black Model 3 for it.... I love the car-that said, I am disappointed in finish work panel gaps, recessed door handles, glitchy driver window which has been repaired already.. I just feel that the “luxury” feel is impeded when you notice some of the finish work.. I still enjoy it though.
I love it! Had it been available when I bought my Model 3 in 2018, I would have bought one of these instead due to its more versatile rear cargo-area. I don't regret the 3, however!!
Awesome vid! I think it's awesome to see all of the optimizations that the Y has over the 3, I just hope they can overcome all of the build quality issues that the Y seems to face
Test experienced the 3, Y, and X yesterday. The AC in the 3 and Y was not dissimilar to my daughter’s Hyundai Tucson. Then I drove the X and that AC was arctic chill. I ordered the X immediately.
Received my model Y on 12/25/2020, thank you, God. I also bought the model 3 last year. The only issue is, the back seats need to be lighter or electrically fold up. It's kind of stressful for seniors (72 years old).
I am absolutely in love with my Y! Come from a family of car enthusiasts. No other car compares. I can’t say enough good things about it. Great job Elon!! Proud to be driving your product! The only thing....and I know your trying is to change the GPS. Maps on the iPhone is superior and hopefully you find a way to put smart that. Hahaha. ❤️❤️❤️
The Tesla Model Y structure is tougher than the Model 3 structure which already got a 5.0 Star, we might have to review our scales. He literally Break My Scale.
I got my Model Y yesterday. Today, as I was sitting in the car, it was very windy. There was a loud whistling coming from the hatch area. I also have a 2012 Chevrolet Volt with 150,000 miles. The model Y is much stiffer and not as comfortable. It has a much more sports car feel. The Volt has a much better fit and finish. I always thought the Volt had great acceleration until driving the Model Y. Wow! I think Tesla is lightyears ahead of other EV's. They need to get a grip on fits and finishes.
Great video. I didn’t know the heat pump made that big of a difference. I hope it works well. I live in high desert where extreme heat and snow are both hard on being comfortable in cars.
The biggest problem with electric cars right now is if you come anywhere close to their stated performance 0-60’s you range is severely diminished. So your 280 mile range is now 100 miles tops after flooring the car a few times. So it would be much more accurate to state: 2.1 second 0-60 OR 280 mile range, but not both.
Kris Fisher true but it’s not as significant in a combustion car because you have a 4 minute “recharge” time to 100% capacity. Not 45-1 hour to 80% capacity and only at certain super charging locations. Electric cars will only become practical when the energy density of the battery packs are double to triple what they are now and the recharge times are cut in half or 2/3rds. That is still a decade away.
As an older adult of 83 the most important item is ingress and egress from the vehicle, next is the overall width of the vehicle for storage in the normal sized garage for (2) two cars or (1) one car and (1) one midsized truck. These two items can make or break a purchasing decision for many who can afford the vehicle.
I wish Tesla put more emphasis on quality control. I'm happy for those who received perfect cars, but many others have not. I've seen a couple objective sources consistently say that Tesla's quality control is lacking. I hope they turn it around so that I can get mine soon.
Agreed. It is a new vehicle. One would expect a few bumps until they get it all worked out. I decided to order an "X," as the "Y" just doesn't seem ready for prime time yet...
I have the LR M3 & I love it, but being 6'3" I would love to have a higher seating, more spacious small SUV like my Lexus RX which uses gas. I'm waiting for the Model Y to be upgraded with a 100 KW battery, giving it a range over 400 miles. I will be one of the first ones to order it on that day.
Complete newbie here. Put down my initial payment on a Model 3 for a test drive, later my circumstances changed and decided the Y was better fit for my needs. I was shocked to find out I lost my non-refundable $100 for canceling the purchase even if I am now buying a pricier model. Obviously, it is not the money, it's the principle. I'm not going to make me change my mind and go elsewhere --these cars are damn impressive! I do hope this kind of "take it or leave it" attitude from the company is not a sign of things to come if I ever need their help with servicing, warranty, etc. I feel like a sucker for accepting this policy and not only losing money but handing over $250 more but I'm hoping this car is really worth it --I'd do just about anything to have a great EV!
We test drove Model Y couple of months ago, one negative thing I have to say was extremely limited back view. The way they slanted the car it was very difficult to see what's happening behind you while driving. The other thing was - no opening sunroof. Glass roof was nice but you really expect an ability to open it , especially in the expensive high-tech vehicle.
Looks great in that mat black. Smart move not using the gull wing doors considering how problematic they seem to be, I always thought they were gimmicky anyways. Best looking Tesla yet.
Got ours a month ago and love it. Just a few hiccups though. Summon function the car freaked out and needed a firmware fix that took a week at Tesla to. Figure out. Now we have a A/C issue in the cabin and on the display. Not cooling inside and says it’s 145 degrees outside. Need to get this straightened out. Big fan of the vehicle here and know there will be some bugs to work out with software or and firmware updates. Wish there was a 50 mile battery backup unit as an accessory that was available just in case....
Love my Y, although the hatch didn't align properly and had to push down it to close it. Tesla fixed it and it's almost perfect now.... my only issue is that the suspension is a bit too rigid, the car handles well but man no give when you hit bumps at high speed. Tesla could learn a thing or two from BMW about suspension. Otherwise love at home charging, cabin preconditioning, one pedal driving, perfect size and seat position, the minimalistic and super clean dashboard, the glass roof, autosteer, autopilot, auto garage opener, sentry, nav, tons of space in small package, safety, LACK OF MAINTENANCE (except for tires) and INSANE ACCELERATION... never gets old - the car just lunges forward.
Great video. Didn’t know about the heat exchanger. Love my Y but two faults stand out for Europe’s roads 1. The Satnav is the worst in class and frequently gets the exit count on roundabouts wrong. 2. Turning circle isn’t great. Thanks
Scheduled to take delivery on July 25th. Placed my order on June 29th. It's replacing a 2017 GMC Acadia Denali. Tesla needs to complete the blackout look with the front/rear Tesla badge and PLEASE change that shiny piano black console for a matte black look.

We have a Model 3 we always close the frunk with one hand just don't press on the Tesla emblem or you may dent your hood.
i am thinking about to buy the new model
Ordered Model Y on Tuesday and got delivery in 6 days. This is an awesome car.
Oh! Cool 😎
This is the first Tesla that I feel I must have! NOW!
Awesome vid! I think it's awesome to see all of the optimizations that the Y has over the 3, I just hope they can overcome all of the build quality issues that the Y seems to face
I am a fun of Y .This will be my next car ❤️
Looking to buy waiting for 2021 hoping built quality will work out the bugs like fit and finish and paint
I have owned the Model X for nearly 4 years. I love the falcon doors. The utility is amazing. The doors on my BMW X5 bug me now.
ordered it in april 2019. Will be an amazing car. Can wait for Gigafactory Berlin, but can't wait do drive it ;-).
I
Ordered MY July 17 and took delivery July 26. Didn’t have time to get my charging circuits installed. Life is tough!
GOAL - to get Model Y in 2021! Thanks for this video. It helped make my FINAL decision! Just gotta sell my current car ... wish me LUCK!!!!!!!!
Test experienced the 3, Y, and X yesterday. The AC in the 3 and Y was not dissimilar to my daughter’s Hyundai Tucson. Then I drove the X and that AC was arctic chill. I ordered the X immediately.
Took a Tesla Y for a test drive and loved it!!
Taking delivery in few weeks of my performance. Traded in my X for this beast
That crash test of the 3 is crazy. ZERO A pillar deformation.
Heat pipe hmm. Jerryrigeverithing would love this.
Tim Stopar ofc he would
it a heat pump, not heat pipe.
Stuart Fricke lol i was to lazy to correct this either so thanks
Received my model Y on 12/25/2020, thank you, God. I also bought the model 3 last year. The only issue is, the back seats need to be lighter or electrically fold up. It's kind of stressful for seniors (72 years old).
Drive it in good health Raymond.
Hahaha. ❤️❤️❤️
Oops out smart
Got my Y too - little scuffs on the seats but lovin’ it
We are taking possession of our Model Y this Friday! I can’t wait!
Good call!
The Tesla Model Y structure is tougher than the Model 3 structure which already got a 5.0 Star, we might have to review our scales. He literally Break My Scale.
Very informative video. Thanks for producing it.
No gas car gets their rated range when you floor it either.
Fan! Mine will be delivered Feb 12th 💃🏽💃🏽
Congrats! Come back and tell us how it goes!
Omg it’s almost Feb 12!!
Didn't buy car but did buy shares... growth potential unreal
I’m getting my delivered next month. Great video
Thanks Ryan. Drive it in good health!
Got a red one with hitch option. Perfect car in town and on the road.
Just ordered mine... it’ll be here in 6 weeks
I have had my Model for 6 months. It is everything promised here. I would buy another one in a minute.
Agree. Sold my Lexus, bought Tesla stock. Profit will help pay for Model Y AWD, probably black. Hope for 4680 batteries, but will not wait too long.
Test drove the Y last week. Very Loud wind noise >75mile/hour (through the roof). The hatch back slammed down when closing.
Should have mentioned the MYLR and it acceleration boost capabilities with higher suspension and higher comfort and practical wheels.
I feel like a sucker for accepting this policy and not only losing money but handing over $250 more but I'm hoping this car is really worth it --I'd do just about anything to have a great EV!
and a year later after initially watching this video, I just finished watching it again. I also put a Y performance and LR on order. :) Great video!
What about the S? 9 years and still gorgeous
I'm a fan. I've had mine almost a month and love it. Still learning new things about it.
I own a model Y and love it. I do wish that it had a smoother ride.
Probably one of the most important electric vehicles ever musk goal for sustainable transport is amazing innovative journey
Model Y is a great vehicle! ❤️
Tesla Model Y looks nice.
Can't wait for it to come to the UK
Nothing new to me. But still enjoyed watching them one more time. Nice video! Go Tesla!
We are getting our Model Y on Friday! I can’t wait!
sophisticated here and there. buzz words
I want one.
Cant wait for Giga Berlin to finish! Want my Model Y!
A HUD would be awesome. Does it come with it? Having to take my eyes off the road constantly to check speed is kind of a put-off for me.
zero issue once you drive it, HUD is nothing but a distraction
Great video. Didn’t know about the heat exchanger. Love my Y but two faults stand out for Europe’s roads 1. The Satnav is the worst in class and frequently gets the exit count on roundabouts wrong. 2. Turning circle isn’t great. Thanks
Just ordered my last Thursday. It is a week later and everything in complete on the website. I'm just waiting for the paperwork and a delivery date!
great content!! keep it up 👍🏽
Scheduled to take delivery on July 25th. Placed my order on June 29th. It's replacing a 2017 GMC Acadia Denali. Tesla needs to complete the blackout look with the front/rear Tesla badge and PLEASE change that shiny piano black console for a matte black look.
