Each captain has an unique ability. Emmet generates 2 resources each day, making him the best at survival, Deedee gets hungry slower, Baby makes friends easier (if you keep making bad choices your crew can become insubordinate and refuse to do stuffs like expeditions), Tom is difficult to go insane, Meagan is not likely to get sick (or hurt, I’m not 100% sure)
Also pretty sure that higher flexibility will mean you're faster while scavenging in the space station

Jack, if you open the normal story mode, you can use the time given in the tutorial to run against items and stockpile them close to your escape hatch. I've heard this new version of the traditional 60 seconds is much harder to win at with more scenarios, you need as many recourse at your disposal as possible.

its an upgraded artifact. thats why the "dumb luck or crafting skills blabla" and it gave 20.. things.. instead of 10
The glowing artifact can LET you back on earth if you make it. It's a weird system.
Jack here are some tips:
-Dont feed anyone untill day 5 then till day 10 , 15 and so on.
Save the cow artifact for later events you will need it (a ghost is gonna come looking for that thing) and you can use it to fix issues other than make soup.
-Dont get more than 3 people only get 2-3.
-Craft soup as soon as possible when you got the resources.
-ALWAYS get the book.
-Read the log clearly some decisions really matter and you cant go back this game is so unforgiving.
-Send your crew to an expedition as many times as possible just dont send them when they are sick or starving feed them before hand.
-If a member is gonna die from injuries and starvation send him/her put on an expedition cause he might come to your ship with some goods ;p

Half of those tips are good and the other half he was trying to do and couldn't. The artifact *was* what gave him resources for soup, and he *was* crafting it as soon as he had the resources this time around, so those both are kind of moot. The only time he didn't make a decision was when he had no objects to use, you can see they were grayed out because he didn't have them. He sent Baby out as soon as he landed and Baby was sick when he came back, Jack just forgot to pass around soup that day, which was the reason they all died. And I thought that members could die on expeditions? They did last game.

I think Dee Dee is a cool captain. just have emmet as a crew and do all the brain tasks, dee dee do maneuvering, and others do something else
Pretty sure that ultimately, there are only 2 types of decisions, ones that use your stats and ones that use the average of the crew’s stats, have emmet as crew means he will contribute to group decisions(and of course expeditions and ones where you pick a specific person

Based on what I've seen of this game I'd recommend eating when you're hungry , not starving. 5 - 7days of tip top shape is better than 2 days of hunger weakened survivors that you have to feed again sooner to keep starvation at bay. Just a thought.
