Eric, This is a great episode. I was a volunteer at Rattlesnake Fire from 1989 to 2000 and career at Elizabeth from 1998 to 2012, worked with your dad. Over 23 years I ran lots of calls with Parker/South Met, you do an awesome job representing the Fire Service, South Metro and your family. Take care, be safe.
Nothing like a tour of a fire burning inside a building. I am sure this was a great experience for the civilians and your staff as well. This is a great way to learn some of the thing fire fighters go through while trying to protect us. Nice Back Draft, that set everybody back on their heels, they won't soon forget that. Very good demos of structure fires and victim search and rescue. More fire department could benefit from such a good outreach. Great video. I think that is great the amount of patch exchange going on worldwide.
8:50: In Germany, firecrews have special containers filled with burning wood to simulate an internal attack of a fire building ("Brandcontainer"). It's smaller than the sheet metal structure you have. 20:15: Oh, great, a gift from Köln! My hometown since 1991! Alaaf!
I have a video series suggestion it might sound dumb but I'm going to say it anyways. I would like to see more videos like recaps of major incidents like large wildland fires, the tanker fire acouple years back with some interviews, dashcam footage if available and also lessons learned so what went well what went wrong what could of been improved ect. Stay safe and keep your mind where your body is and always slow down move over
@@lukeamos9495 yes but with interviews I feel that if agency's that have a amazing pio program could show some of there major incidents or unusual incidents it would help get agency's that might not have a sop in place rather its a fuel tanker rollover or a train derailment or even something as simple as a pileup on the interstate if it could get the spark for other agency's to get more sop's/preplans in place I feel it would be worth it.
I am a firefighter in Thailand. Been following your channel for a very long time. Thank you very much for the knowledge. I want to study firefighting in your country. I want your logo on my fire suit.
With all of the developments completed, in progress, and planned for the areas south of Lincoln Ave and east of I-25, I am curious if there are plans of adding another small engine/medic station in that area as the Lone Tree city center and the neighboring developments are completed. I think #48 is next, if I’m not mistaken. Maybe near Hess/Heirloom, for example. It will be a few years down the road, I’m sure. But curious if there may be plans.
Loved going into the burn building at our county. I was trying to get our chief to allow us to film in there so we could use it during fire prevention week.
I'm in a fireman but I do him part of a ham radio emergency team and we do have patches available but I do love the fact that button what's been going on we haven't been going to the meetings and the ones the meetings when we go in person again I will see if I can purchase a patch and would love to send it to you guys and maybe I'm even ask you for the send me a patch thanks Jim
Watched this video back when it was posted and I happen to live in downtown Denver down the street from Station 1 where they keep their collapse rescue, and water rescue. I guess these specialized units rarely have calls. I was just wondering though for South Metro what is the average number of calls per year that the Collapse Rescue receives. Great video as always. Thanks!
Just wondering why Denver did not take over fire protection for that area where 21 is located now. Seems like a more logical choice due to location. Does Denver respond with 21 on initial dispatch or only when requested by the Battalion Chief or District Chief of SMFR?
@@NAVYMEDIC610 South Metro has always had a close working relationship with Cunningham. Cunningham Fire is in Arapahoe County so the likely hood of the City of Denver annexing or contracting with another county for fir protection was probably not going to happen. I also believe that Cunningham encompassed the City of Foxfield and parts of the Cityy of Centennial, also complicating the situation. Best I can remember anyway.
how much pounds are the equipment and gear you guys have to carry and you firefighters of smfr are the best and very brave this is to all the brave men and women out there 🧡❤
I am wondering if any of the SMFR stations are set up to be a fill site. Is there a bay that can be used for apparatus to pull through and get water from a connection in side the bays or in the lot of a fire station? I think rural fire stations should be designed to be able to be a fill site in some way. Hello to Conner also.
It is a system called PROQA, it is a Computer Aided Dispatch system that many fire departments use including mine. Anytime the dispatcher updates information, or assigns a new incident, it will make noise, it can also be used for GPS Navigation turn by turn directions. It will say "New pending Incident", or "your incident has been Updated"
@@ericbourgeois2092 Sounds very ingenious, thanks! I reckon in some States this system is also used by the Police / Highway Patrol. With access to various databases (licence plates, biometrical data, search warrants, etc.).
I think that the PIO office needs to think about the next redesign of the patch and gifts. I do not for see things slowing down any time soon. You should consider places to display things in other places in the HQ building in display cabinets and walls through out the HQ building. You still need space in your office to do a lot of your PIO duties that is office related. Good Video as usual. I also would like to know about the victim from the first featured fire in this vlog.
Denver fire department rarely provides mutal-aid unless there is something very serious like the large fire in Highlands Ranch but most mutal-aid comes from Aurora though
Have you tried to do tanker relays? No need to move vehicle to move the water. Leave a pumper at the hydrant who pumps it to the next pumper who pumps it to the next pumper. The water moves not the vehicles. You can do this for miles and miles.
Does the ratio of fires to car accidents in your videos represent the ratio in reality? Because if so then wow, you got many fires over there. Here in Germany we have more emergencies with traffic accidents than with fire. Is that also the case in the US?
As you can tell, by the other reply there are younger children who do it. I would ignore that. But there are more older people 15+ who do that better and are more mature that you can trust for good information. It is filming responses to scenes by emergency vehicles at the bare minimum. People like Nate who is mentioned in the video, film responses to calls and photograph and videograph fire or other scenes, Nate is super good at what he does.
No. She explains in the PIO Blog from 26 Feburary 2021that she and her husband are expecting their first child in a few months and will be working at HQ for awhile instead of out in the field. Hopefully she'll be back after her maternity leave.

The video of the burn building brought back some great memories of my Citizens Academy experience in 2018. Great VLOG.
I keep forgetting about the new collapse 45. I can’t wait for that beast!
Bigger than the old collapse 45
I love seeing the new logos on the rigs around the department
Thanks Eric this is an Awesome Video 😎 I am quite intrigued by the Fire Rescue Citizens Academy and the Staff Academy too 👍
Great job on the weight loss. You’re looking great!
Your welcome
Love your channel. Would have liked to see more footage of the first fire and if the victim survived.
The fire happened way befor the PIO vlog so Eric would have that info and he never said the person died so they most likely survived
Thank you Kim Connor and Eric from your friend Kyle in Springfield Missouri
Great vlogs and congratulations Connor on ur new bundle of joy can’t wait to hear if it’s a boy or girl
Training!!!!! Yes!!!! I can’t wait for this one!!!!!!

Is there any plans to update Heavy Rescue 34? I’d like to see this new rig be a new Heavy Rescue 34
They will replace it with a tiller replacing tower 34 and rescue 34.

Rely pumping is routine. It is the call of the water supply officer. Not sure of the efficiency of miles and miles of LDH though.

Here in Germany we have more emergencies with traffic accidents than with fire. Is that also the case in the US?
In south metros vlogs they will only update major traffic collisions, so there is a larger amount of traffic collisions than fires that occur.
In America. The most common call we get is Emergency Medical Services Calls.
US Fire departments most calls are of a EMS nature

What's going on with Conor? How's she doing haven't seen her on these blogs

Yes, watch the other VLOGs, she stated quite clearly she is pregnant and moving into a temporary duty assignment.
