I like how you put the WOT video side-by-side. LT1 on left and 400 on the right. Without that I was feeling that the LT1 pulled harder in 3rd gear but the video showed clearly that the 400 pulled better.
It’s making considerable more power with the 400. And your shorty header issue is magnified more with the larger cubic inch and better flowing cylinder head
You are waaay over cammed in that engine. I do camshafts and valve trains for a living, I've got a grind that would wake up that 400 like you wouldn't believe. Guaranteed it would average at least 50hp more through the whole curve, it's a nitrous friendly grind as well. Let me know if you'd like to step your game up considerably.
get the light weight wheels, rotating weight worth way more then static weight. Also, light drag brakes make huge difference as well. That, timing/carb tuning and correct sized full length headers should be doing 130ish.
@@TPVPRO I’d watch Engine Masters episode on header size first. On a stout motor on the dyno, anything over 1 7/8” netted negligible results. 1 3/4” headers weren’t that far down from the 1 7/8”. Save your money and buy more N2O! 😁👍🏻👍🏻
2 inch primaries are a little on the big side imho. I did a ton if research when I built my first 406 20 years ago. Almost to the dyno , 1 3/4" headers made better AVERAGE power on the 4.155x3.75 . That was from a mild 475hp hydralic flat build all the way to 600+hp solid roller builds. Bigger primaries started making better power once the power got up over 1.55 hp/Cid. 89 AKI (94 RON) regular had about 1.0 grams.and 110 AKI (116 RON) has about 4.5 grams of lead. A 40% 89 octane leaded regular and 60% 93 octane unleaded premium mix used to result in 94 octane because the additive in each fuel was more effective at raising octane when used at lower concentrations. My best guess is a 50/50 mix of 91 and 110 would put you about 105 but that's a guess as it's been 35 years since I used the formulas and I've forgotten them. At any rate it would be significantly higher than 100 octane. Don't forget race fuel will fatten it up. May have to drop a jet or two.
go to your local chain home store get a few gallons of toluene mix with 93. same as race gas less money then driving all over the place to find race fuel ... also yes you do need some sort of roll cage and long tube headers i think your at the point where you need them ...
@@TPVPRO yes, I used it all the time on with TransAm becase the air to air intercooler can only cool down the air temp only so much on those hot days with high boost.... so those hot nights in mexico would mix 10-20% of the stuff into 93 octane. works extremley well and much cheaper per gallon when mixing it with 93..
They sell an additive called race gas that would probably be cheaper to do. I don’t think I’d personally trust it to spray it on but with my 12.3:1 compression it seems to work just fine to be able to cruise an keep detonation at bay. I run an NGK 7 race plug an it seems good now i use the purple race gas ultra it’ll make up to 112 octane supposedly but I just add 1 can an i have a factory tank with a sump added to it so i can get almost 17 gallons an one can added an its good enough to cruise. Do a little research, you don't want to run avgas alone. Mix with another fuel. Years ago avgas was the base fuel for most race gas.
