Bro this channel is so comfy. World is fucked. Brain is strained, but I can always come here and get warped into just this cozy DM type vibe. From lore vids, to just general fantasy discussion and game reviews. Idk how to explain it. Just great. Cheers.
Into the cart it goes, really love how this title evolves. And lost valley seems to be exactly what I wanted especially after the gigantic disappointment that was owlcat's Inevitable Excess DLC
Bought this game, and I'm enjoying it, thanks to your videos. The multiplayer and the dungeon maker helps bring my D&D party a little bit closer, some of them had to leave the country :(.
While they're different games for sure, this game reminds me so much of Neverwinter Nights when it was first released. It had the tools to be a special game, and once the expansions (or DLC's today) and community mod content started coming it became a vastly superior game, one of my all-time favorites. Before that it was just a bland single player campaign that didn't reach it's potential. Just bought Solasta on sale this weekend, largely due to the information gleaned from your videos. So thanks!
How they do multiplayer is how I wished mass effect would do it and Dragon age. An optional multiplayer where host still makes decisions but you can play those huge games with your friends.
The DLC campaign is really good. They took what made the game unique and ramped it up. The verticality of the areas is incredible and there are secrets upon secrets.
Lost Valley's story seems like it's analogous to Pillars of Eternity 2. Your goal is to get to a specific place, either by getting there yourself or by doing a series of quests to ally with a faction. You're exploring a semi-open world and there isn't really a strong focus on a main quest.
Bought the vanilla game maybe 6 months ago. Played the main story twice. Mechanics were great but really felt the replay value wasnt there. With them adding more content I really think this game is worth it. :) hope they keep it up!
I might pick this game at some point. It keeps getting more interesting with this new content, there is also a lot of potential in custom campaigns. Perhaps this isn't the last piece of content and they will keep adding more story-driven campaigns. Plus, it looks fun seeing a custom party interact using the personalities they have been given.
So I am currently deep diving the Lost Valley campaign and thus far I have managed to do every quest for and ally with every single faction except for Orinetis (and that's only because I was required to assault and take over three of his outposts for the rebels, the people, and the mask). How long can I keep that up before siding with my faction of choice?
Question: If you only have 2 players in the multiplayer session, does that mean your party will only have 2 characters? And if so, is that enough to get through the base game campaign?
Agreed, I think parties of 5-6 is key in crpgs. It opens up more creative & unique party combos after filling out your trinity tank/healer/trap scout in these games, and gives you more bodies for battle positioning.
Table top is balanced around 4 players, since each creature's rating is based on 4 people beating it. That is why these games have a party of 4 and not any other number.
@@orarinnsnorrason4614 There is a Solasta table top game? Hmmm I was not able to find any info on it. Perhaps you are referring to the PnP rules Solasta is based. If that is the case then party size is dictated around what the DM and his players decide. I have been blessed my group of players have always been at least 7 players in size.
@@MortismalGaming Thank you for the quick reply. I just finished Pathfinder: Kingmaker my second time through (walked away 2 years ago; had something to do with a certain House) and I've been looking for another scenario to play. You have one of the very best PC RPG channels.
Probably not but man if it was easy to convert the system they could throw together a both those games and some player creations probably to sweeten the deal. But alas crpg and console is not a high selling combo
Give it a bit, sometimes it can take a while for steam to register stuff, definitely supposed to be happening though was in all the details they gave me
I left a message in the solasta forum and there is absolutely nothing from the developer so far on this buying this dlc via microsoft.. I bought the game, primal dlc and the supporter pack after playing via games pass to support the developer but I used the microsoft store. Lost valley DLC IS NOT available through microsoft so far. I hope this changes. I am not buying everything over.
There is some problem with it showing up properly, they posted about it on twitter, heres the direct link www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/solasta-crown-of-the-magister-lost-valley/9n58dck4910n?rtc=1
This DLC is very buggy. It's a shame. Otherwise, if you liked the base game, you will like this DLC. Just wait a bit for the devs to root out the bugs before buying.

This plus pathfinder is gonna fill up the whole back half of my year

Oghma probably

In it's structure, yeah kinda
Well, Tactical Adventures didn't have the resources to put the same level of detail into worldbuilding.
I really dug solasta. Will definitely give this a go

A bit off topic but I really want to enjoy crpg like you guy. I fascinated by the idea of deep rpg machanic but can't stand the reading for too long.
@@feo130 oh really I don't know that at all thx.
@@quint3ssent1a definitely keep it on my wishlist thx.
Maybe consider giving Divinity Original Sin 2 a try. The entire game is expertly voice acted, no need to read unless you want to.

I fear the old homemade campaign compatibility
I hope the DLC is much deeper on the RPG side than the main game which seemed to focus on only the otherwise brilliant tactical combat.
Gotta try it one off these days 😁good show sir!
This DLC sounds awesome
I think the level cap of the main campaign was 10, unless it was increased post launch. Will definitely be picking this up at some point.
It was increased to 12 post launch yes

You have to 4 characters, playing 2 player multiplayer just means you'll have two other characters in addition to the two player characters
This game needs a 6 character party very badly.

ick, no thanks. 4 is ideal party size. 6 is just tedious.
Do you need Primal Calling installed to play The Lost Valley?
No you just wont be able to use Druid/Barb

Oops sorry
It's live now
If the host owns the DLC do multiplayer friends also get the classes/subclassses/half-orc race free?
Not permanently but for that multiplayer session they can use whatever the host owns
Where is it 60% off? Thanks 😊
