I never understood the hate between versions during that Gen. The graphical difference was never really as big as say Splinter Cell Chaos Theory on PS2 vs. OG Xbox.

My Xbox one X died when playing this in 4k so I had to play 2 thirds of it on my Xbox 360. And was blown away by it. I never beat it back in the day. Resolution or frame rate didn't bother me. So I haven't bothered getting a new one. Instead I bought a PSU for my Xbox one s.
5:15 just a heads up, I played this game on the new Xbox Series X and the load times are even FASTER than all the others, obviously because of quick resume but even load times during load sequences were under 5 seconds! that's CRAZY FAST!!! The Super Troopers 'enhance' scene is legendary..so is the movie! 😛 It's unfortunate early multi-platform games for the PS3 were inferior to the Xbox 360 version. Don't know if you created other videos showcasing the rest of the series between these two consoles, later games were almost identical.
Just some I for on the storage. The 7200rpm drive is not 6 gigabits. The sata 3 interface supports up to that. 7200rpm drives typically only run around 150MB/s at most. For the SSD in the PS3. The system only uses Sata 2. So the SSD isn't running at it's true speed (450MB/s for the WD blue)
lol theres no point testing PS3 SSD speeds. It will always be the exact same as an HDD. The internal SATA connector does not support SSD speeds. Best to just use that SSD on something else tbh

My favorite in the franchise, another good point is in Lightning Returns, I have this game on both ps3/360 and the textures are blurry on ps3 but the light effects(the sun on wildlands) is much more intense, actually this also happens on RE-Revelations 2 on ps3
Back when consoles hardware were still custom and games looked very different across them, today, everything just looks the same, probably the last gen when differences could really stand out and even more on previous gens back to day 1.

Just remember - PS3 USE 2gb of internal storage for casch and system needs, like Xbox ORG, so quality of IS influence on whole system. Best HDD for PS3 - Samsung, 50sec TLOU first load - best I've ever seen, i checked more than 100 hdds, I've used HDD with 3min load, WD, even infinity LOAD with Bad Smart HDD without bads (Toshiba)! So just run TLOU - BD/HDD/external HDD - doesn't matter - load will be the same, like I said only Internal Storage quality influence on speed and you can check if the Intrnl Strg fits for your PS3. I only can say - SS HDDs not so good, 1:40 TLOU load average.
I´ve played the xbox 360 and pc version and I have to say that I encountered more bugs on pc than xbox 360, but talking about graphics, you´ll notice the diference only having the different versions side by side.

I have played it since the year of its release with the 360 version being my first copy of the game and the retail Director's Cut on PC being my second. Could you do a part 2 version of this video with comparing the DX9 and DX10 executables of the PC version? I think there may have been differences between the two, as I know the 10.1 executable was removed from a later patch due to problems, but I am not entirely sure at the moment, as I normally only use the DX10 executable. Also, could you enable ambient occlusion in your graphics card settings (Nvidia Control Panel/Radeon Settings) to see how lighting will be affected further? I am not sure if you know this either, but the game must be capped at maybe 60 fps to avoid problems with game physics misbehaving and other technical issues occurring in the PC version due from the frame rate being too high. Also, could you enable DSR in 4K on PC to see how it may affect image quality? 1. Use DX10 executable next to DX9 executable. (to detect differences in game behavior) 2. Enable ambient occlusion. (for changes in lighting) 3. Cap game at 60 fps. (to prevent issues from high frame rate) 4. Enable DSR for 4K. (could hide additional jaggies) Edit: I also have VSync disabled and use G-Sync with a 144Hz monitor.
Great video, I have all the platforms but I will go with the PS3 version even if it is the worst one (And it doesn't seem that bad really compared to the 360) , i want to have a complete collection of this series on one platform and generally other titles of this saga have exclusive content on the PS3 for some reason.
I beat it on the xbox 36o originally, and then on the ps3 years later. I remember thinking it looked a lot better on the 360 at the time, but thought maybe my nostalgic brain was remembering it differently. I then went back to the 360 version and saw that it looked and played better to me. The ps3 version always played choppier and looked worse in my opinion. I had the exact same experience with Batman Arkham Asylum and Mass Effect 1. It's weird, most of the time, ps3 looked better, but those early ps3 titles had a hard time. I remember trying to play Medal of Honor Airborne on ps3. I swear it dropped below 10 frames at one point and almost froze one me.
I just came back from replaying it a bit on my PS3. I had to drop it, couldn't stand the tearing, 15fps averages and awkward non-remappable controls. Will probably buy it for PC, tho i did see it was clean looking

"It's a fair comparison" Technically, no. Although you may have a display that's only 1080p, the One X doesn't actually run the game internally at that resolution. It's running internally at 4k and you're getting down sampling. That's why the One X looks like it has better anti aliasing to it in comparison to the PC. The internal resolution is higher.
I still like the PC version, even though the Xbox ONE version has better graphics and good details, but because I don't have an Xbox ONE, I chose the PC version 😊👍
The PC has a crap load of updates and it made the game look worse. The game is a DX10 game without any patches, after the patch it literally liters it to DX 9.... It was a weird situation.

Also read about difference with "bits" and "bytes". PS3 sucks with SSD support, that's just how it is. And you should have also tested it on Xbox Series X with latest upgrade.

PC is not maxed out, there is hidden settings that you can only enable trough config file edit, PC Gaming Wiki is you'r friend. And the Game is upgraded to 4K on OneX, if you'r output is 1080p, the OneX Render the Games at 4K and the Downscale it.

It's weird that it only really occurs in that scene you've shown, or probably others I didn't go over again. Other than that, I have replayed sections for hours and shadows show up in dynamic perspectives of scenes and they show up normally when people enter the direct sunlight, so that is definitely a strange bug. It's nice that it's not the whole game that is affected though. On the other hand, the lighting at 7:45 (with my PC copy) seems about the same as Xbox from my observation. I don't know if it's because I used the DX10 executable and enabled ambient occlusion, or if it's also due to capping the frame rate to 60 fps. The lighting appears to be the same intensity or better on the retail Director's Cut I ran with the possible differences I listed above. The developers just need to release a patch or some kind of remaster (I guess) to fix many of the remaining bugs in the game, or maybe there is an unofficial patch/mod to fix the specific problems with the shadows in some places. I have no clue. Edit: I never thought that it might even be an LOD (level of detail) issue for the shadows appearing like they did in that scene.

Well, the one X probably renders at 4K then downscales to whatever resolution you are using

You made a mistake. Most Xbox One X games run 4k 30fps while Series X/S runs 4k 60fps. Assassin Creed 1 has FPS boost on Series X/S.

The developers just need to release a patch or some kind of remaster (I guess) to fix many of the remaining bugs in the game, or maybe there is an unofficial patch/mod to fix the specific problems with the shadows in some places. I have no clue.
Edit:
I never thought that it might even be an LOD (level of detail) issue for the shadows appearing like they did in that scene.
