    If you don’t have the money don’t buy it. Live within your means. This is the problem today. Credit cards should be for emergencies or if you are collecting points buy the shoes then go home and make the full payment for the shoes right away.

      My opinion what if I’m trying to get an apartment ? I need first months rent and damage deposit plus furniture and shit like that. Would a credit card be okay then?

      But wait, you NEED a 'credit score' right? And for that you NEED to use your credit card, repay it, use it, repay it and so on in order to build your credit score. Am I correct?
      If you just use your debit card or cash, you aren't really building anything. You need a 'credit score' for everything from increasing your credit card limit to getting loans to getting a phone contract.

    I used my credit card to buy things particularly when it involved a huge sum of money. It's rather strict to apply for a credit card in my country. It is only issued and approved by the banks. 😊😊

    Some things you can't buy without a loan. Like a car or a house. For little things it's to dangerous. To much temptations. The place I live in we have got a better way to buy things with no interest. Like in a shop across the street. Everyone knows me there and if I buy something without the money they write the amount in the notebook. Once I get money I pay them off (cash or a debit card). No interest, no payment due. And most people in our town shop like this.

    Could you please clarify,for example if I have a credit card and I dont make any debts . Will that make any changes to my credit history or should I make some debts and pay it off on time just for increasing my points . Cuz in Canada I heard that you need to have a decent score so that it could help you in getting car loans, house mortgages , and other installments.

    Awww that's a good question. When I first held on my credit card I was super excited because my limit amount used to be roughly 3000 usd and I had done a HUGE online shopping such as expensive bags, shoes, clothes and jewelries. However, when the credit card bills arose I was kind of " what is this?" Lol.. of course I've learned my lesson hence started used my credit card wisely.

    Hi Mark! I'm astonished! Are you serious about the credit card interest in Canada? Only 19% a year? In Brazil It is, believe me, above 300% a year. If you don't pay off your bills every month you are absolutely insolvent in less than a year. Totally crazy, isn't It?

  • @user-nw3jp6ll7m
    @user-nw3jp6ll7m 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi,Mark,do you believe it? I don't have a credit card yet. A few years ago, many banks wanted me to apply for a credit card for free,but I refused. Because I'm afraid I'll forget to pay according to the stipulated date and need to pay high interest. I use cash or Alipay or wechat to pay for my shopping. In China, credit abuse has caused serious social problems. Some people use credit cards to go shopping crazily, and they can't pay for the credit card in time, resulting in huge penalty interest, which leads to more and more debts, and finally they commit suicide because they can't afford the debts.

    If I may ask you, I'm a newcomer here in Canada, and I'm yet to take Debit or Credit card and I'm confused, so my question is : when is the time that I take Credit card, is it exactly the same time I'm taking the debit card or first first I have to take the debit card first and then after a while then the Credit card ? Please, when is the time I take the Credit card? The best time?

    • @MadEnglishTV
      @MadEnglishTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      First you will get a debit card. You can use that for everything. If you want a credit card, you can apply for one. Or you could buy a pre-paid credit card.
