    Hi Mark, Mexico has unique names for different meats. At a Mexican restaurant in Vancouver where I worked, they made Cochinita Pibil tacos with chicken instead of pork, which is not how it's done in Mexico. Also, they served Tinga tacos that usually have chicken, but here, they were made without any meat at all.

      Can may must am are is = to be ( have ,has) in a sentence, that!s when we don't use do as an auxiliary. Do is also the verb do. You say i have. I can I am without do. As a rule. Exceptions bear a different meaning. 💭🌷

    In Korean, we just put the word "meat" behind the animals except fish.
    돼지고기 : 돼지(pig) + 고기(meat)
    소고기: 소(cow) + 고기(meat)
    닭고기: 닭(chicken) + 고기(meat) : these days we also call chicken because there are many Macdonald and Burger King in South Korea.
    You can see just meat behind the animal name.

    Thank you for this video it’s so useful specially when you are new to western world.
    Drumstick was the new word for me..I recently started eating chicken and only knew wings and breast. I always think Ham is a kind of meat but was not aware it’s pork.
    Also there is one more meat type that’s Veal.I would never forget about Veal there is a funny and sad incident about it.

    • @MadEnglishTV
      @MadEnglishTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right! I forgot veal! I rarely hear the word veal in Canada, and I never see it in the stores. But maybe I'm not looking hard enough. I'll look next time I go shopping! 😃

      I am in Toronto.Two weeks back we got food at work from outside.There we’re different kind of wraps and on each of them a letter was written (C- chicken, B- beef .....) and one of them was V. A friend of mine doesn’t eat meat and he thought it’s Vegetarian that’s what we assume when we see V but when he started eating it he found some different test and checked with other colleagues and finally figured it out it’s Veal 😀

    • @MadEnglishTV
      @MadEnglishTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    In Iran we say just cow meat,sheep meat and chicken and goat and generally people prefer lambs rather than other kinds of meat.Actually it depends on the place of residence, the ways and kinds of foods differs from North to South.For example in Southern cities people prefers eat goat and seafoods like fish and lobsters.

    It was a helpful lesson. In hindi we generally use the same name for their meat as animals.. but most of the time we use english names.. ( because we have so many languages in our country) here chicken and goat meat is very popular.. we call mutton to goat meat.. or sometimes just meat..
    I love lobster and I love lobsters was really funny and confusing..😄.. this was new for me..

    • @MadEnglishTV
      @MadEnglishTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha, I'm glad you're learning new things from my lessons!

    In Mandarin, as we don't have the plural form, if we want to say "I love lobsters" we need to add the verb "eat" (pretty straight forward!) Otherwise it would be "I love (the animal) lobster." Same goes to any other kind of animals.

    When the French people were in England they used the French words for meat in the kitchen. But English people in the yard used to call the animals in English. I did not know this noun: lobster. I called it to crab.
    So, English people use the French name for meat but not for animals.

    That video made my mouth watering, although I just had dinner.
    In Russian, some names of meat differ from the names of animals but some simply formed by adding a suffix to the name of an animal, like pig - pigena, chicken - chickena, etc. ))
    P.S. I wonder, do I need to put a comma before the word "but" in that case? I mean, if I used "some names" and not just "some" I would definitely use a comma. 😊🤔

    • @MadEnglishTV
      @MadEnglishTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Cool! I ate some chickena last night. 😄
      Yes, you should put a comma there because "some is the subject". Also you need a verb. "Some are simply formed..."
      * "That video made my mouth water." Or, "That video made my mouth start watering."

    In Burmese, we also separate calling the meats just like the way you do. We separate according to body parts. For example - head and neck, breasts, thighs and legs for chicken but for beef, we call it black meat.

    • @Tinkerツ
      @Tinkerツ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hein Ko Ko,
      Yeah I know the comment is 2 years old but *WTF, Black Meat* ,
      Cow's meat being called အမဲသား isn't because the meat has black color, is because it's consider meat from a wild animal in the past.
      အမည္းေရာင္ = color black
      အမဲသား = meat from wild animals or cow's meat.
      အမဲလိုက္/အမဲပစ္ = hunting.
      Yeah I hope you learn something today kid.

If we cut a litte bellow we call coxao mole. And we have this differents names for special parts of the animal. Brazilians. lol

    IN Portuguese language we say carne de boi (cow meat ), carne de porco (pig meat) , carne de carneiro (sheep meat) carne de cabra ( goat meat) etc. but for chicken and fish etc it's the same in english. we don't need to say (meat of) when we will eat fish , chicken , turkey, lobster , crab etc but for cow, sheep , goat and pig you always need to say meat of... otherwise you'd make people think you're having sex with these animals.because the verb eat (comer) in the form of slang means also to have sex with . so if you say I'll eat cow in Portuguese. it doesn't sound good really hehe that's why we always must make sure to say ( meat of) for these specific animals.

    I love the " picanha de porco ", stay near to the ham. In Brasil we eat " bisteca ". Some peopples ( often in farm ) eat the all chicken , include the blood fried ( i dont like )
