HIKMICRO Stellar 2.0 Review, Footage & How to get the best from it. Top Tips

  • A review from the point of view of the hunter. Does the Stellar 2.0 work in field when it matters?
    What features does it have that translate to results when it matters?
    Is it the perfect thermal scope? All these questions and more answered in this video. Plus get to see what the scope is actually like as I show real footage captured over the last few months.
    This scope has been rigorously tested since January. So I’ve had plenty of chances to properly try it out.
    I’m not going through the full tech specs in this video, because I find what manufactures say on paper doesn’t always translate.
    I’ve been given free rein to say what I like about this product and I do.
    For a full tech spec breakdown please visit: www.scottcountry.co.uk/produc...
    My top tips:
    Always ensure your battery is fully charged. Always carry either a couple 18650 batteries, or a power bank and USB C cable to charge or power it should you forget.
    Each time you go out, before you start shooting. Adjust the contrast and brightness according to the conditions. This way you’ll always get the best picture possible.
    If like me, you like to shoot using the PIP (Picture in Picture on) activate it before you start shooting and put the unit in standby.
    Please feel free to ask me any questions. If I can help I will. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll come back to you once HIK have replied to me on your behalf.
    If you’d like to shop for some of the kit please visit:www.amazon.co.uk/shop/robinfoxer
    Thank you very much for watching, take care, stay safe and as always, happy shooting.

    Great video and very informative, but i am sure your an ambassador for Hik, so surely this is going to be biased?
    it would be good to see some comparison videos against other Brands on the market, to see how they compare.
    But great video keep it up for us all!

      Robin may be , but I’m certainly not paid by HIKMICRO or any other company.
      I’ve got videos that are made with the Pulsar XP38 Thermion, HIKMICRO Stellar Mk1 & Mk2.
      I also run my own night vision and thermal demonstration evenings too, so people can try the kit out without any pressure from a sales team.

      I made no secret of the fact that I worked with HIK. However the truth is that I do tell it as it is.
      This review was no exception. I also would suggest those that may still feel that way speak to Dave, from predator protection UK and Dewaynes. Both those guys swapped from other brands for their own reasons.

    Fair comments Robin. I'm on the fence about thermal scopes at the moment. Not sure if I'd be able to warrant the outlay as yet ?. Plus I've just bought the 4k Alpex and an Arken Zulus so I'm skint anyway. LOL Be nice if someone would send me one to test ?. LOL ATB fella.

      @TeamFoxer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well I’ve forgotten to turn it off after a nights foxing. Gone to it the next night and it was on the red battery wise, but it had also been used for 5-6hours the previous night. On standby alone I’d say over 24hrs easily.

    @TeamFoxer - Would you upgrade from a Stellar SQ50 1.0 to the 2.0 if you hadn't got it on loan? Is it worth it?

    • @TeamFoxer
      @TeamFoxer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Great question. The honest answer is, only if I had plenty of disposable income. The difference isn’t night and day. The stellar 1 is still a proper decent thermal scope for long and short range.
      Therefore unless I had £700/800 spare a month no. I’d stay with the gen 1. I say £7/800 because that’s probably what it would cost I imagine to upgrade, for that, if you can afford it then yeah.
      David from predator protection uk upgraded his to his own expense. He’d be a good chap to tell you honestly as to whether it was worth it.

      @@TeamFoxerHi Robin, I’ll save him the time bothering to ask. As Robin explained, both scopes are exceptionally good, but I changed to the Mk2 Stellar because I’d had an offer to buy my Mk1, that I couldn’t refuse. Dan Newman, who won the first Wild Boar weekend used my Mk1 whilst with me in the hide, and it was a job to get it back from him, so his Boss bought it for him.
      The Mk2 for me is better because of the control turret on the top, being left handed, it’s far better to operate now. Picture quality is better, as is the audio, the raised buttons too, are now easier to find wearing gloves. Something I spent a lot of time with the Tech Team at HIKMICRO working on.
      If you need any other unbiased information, drop me a message 👍

    Nice scope. Can you comfortably shoot out to 250/300 with good quality picture?

    • @TeamFoxer
      @TeamFoxer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can definitely shoot out that far yes. Good quality picture at that distance? Only if you don’t zoom in too far. It’s a digital image at the end of the day. So even the most expensive thermals on the market won’t give you what most would refer to as a “good quality picture” if on full mag.
      I have taken several 200 yards plus shots with it and been able to ID at 400 quite happily. So it’s perfect for predator control.

    What's the idea behind lower scope being more accurate at longer ranges.
    I like low scope idea for tighter mpbr ...from short to medium range .

    • @TeamFoxer
      @TeamFoxer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because the data of bullet drop on the box is more reflective of the scope sitting at 50mm above the center of the barrel. Therefore if your box says the drop at 300 is X. Then that will be. Loser to actual should you wish to stretch the legs of a shot. The higher it is, it has to travel more to meet the zero and the curve off the zero point is increased.

    The thermal resolutions are awful when zooming to high marginations!
    Like so many digital scopes, one simply CAN NOT remove & install new batteries.
    ATG & I say do you really want to throw out over $6,300.00 & then you have to send in for them to replace your batteries?
    You will really be using & killing in less than total of 48 hours & most of the time you are not using the scope.
    2 yrs run quickly
    Would anyone wants to buy a gun & you have to send it in for cleaning? Do you buy a car & was told you can't change 12V battery?
    Remember, many killers (hunters) & target shooters knows how to take apart & clean & install.
    So, if you can't replace the battery then it's a major drawback!

      @@TeamFoxerI set a new model Thermion up for a friend recently ( there’s a video ) and as a previous Pulsar owner, and having seen through a HIKMICRO scope at a night vision show, I soon swapped everything over to HIKMICRO. As Robin states, each to their own, but get them both together in the same conditions, and it’s obvious, the Surveillance Camera company, have got the edge of all the opposition 🏆

      I've got a stellar 1 sat on my 223 and Thermion xq50 pro lrf on my 243 both cracking bits of kit but I find pulsar better quality plus I've lost zero twice whilst out in the field for some unknown reason.
      Technology has come a long way last 2/3 years in thermal all units are very good maybe I'm just a pulsar snob😂

    • @predatorprotectionuk
      @predatorprotectionuk 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, you’re the perfect person to make the comparison. The zero loss is an odd one I’ve come across before when the user has not saved the zero setting properly after the setting up.
      Scope mounts . Fit the very best you can, if like me, you’ll use the same scope on several rifles, Warne return to zero QD mounts , do what they say they do.
      The new wider screen on the Mk2 is better now, and I’m currently trying to convince the tech team to move the menu down to the bottom line and change its colour or background. They’re a great bunch of guys and gals, but often need a nudge to get stuff done.
      I’m currently working on getting the new Alpex LRF updated with alternate secondary reticle choices 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
      Have a great day
