Came back to watch this again as I was doing some stat 'accounting' prior to tomorrows upgrade. Blizz in its notes indicates that it will be reducing it's "Stats Compression" - their phrase and reducing it periodically moving forwards. Wanted to get a baseline prior too. What I think they mean by this is the reduction in some primary and additonal stats when you enter BG - In my case Damage is reduced by 41.5% (17010 to 11295), HP by 32.1% but what really is interesting is the 'additional stats' section. my Crit hit chance goes from %20 to %8.1 (-84.7%)... crit hit dmg from 15.5 to 4.7 (-106%). Get weird when you consider they nerf attack speed by 107% but Movement speed is unaffected. We have all 'known' that Rite of Excile activites have always been heavily nerfed - so Battleground - based on same engine/rule set - has always been a bit of a mystery but heavily benefiting resonance and its boost to gear attributes - What you so usefully illustrate here - Strength, Health, Armour, Armour Pen and most efficient use of is more important than ever - Primary char stats like strength / Health / Armour etc. are not 'reduced' at all in GB (some results of them are effected.). Thinking I have 95 lvls of Inf2 to cherry pick the best Magic abilities of armour based on what I see and read about 'stat compression', never reforge again! - and concentrate on what you have told us here based on efficiency and boost for stat - and minmax, use the new dmg dummy and see what we can see! Sorry very long comment, but you videos always make me consider my character in a new light - insightful as always.Keep up the great work. BTW - your BK build is spectacular. For those BKs in the audience - VK put up a build video and we are watching it in action here. Changed my impression of the bk and use it for pve, dungeons and raids - it does it all (and only build by ANYBODY that so far does this). Ok, do use a diff pvp build but looking forward to trying yours - big update, new essences tomorrow so will stay tuned!!

One thing to note is Armour Pen crit damage is based on Damage ie strength/intelligence stats. So you should think of strength/int as ALSO increasing your Armour Pen Stats. Hitting like a wet noodle because your damage is low also means your crit is going to hit like a wet noodle no matter how high Armour Pen stat is. Similarly, Armour is more valuable with higher block chance. There is no point pouring resources in Armour with a based 6% block chance that blocks once in a blue moon. I think these points need to be conveyed better. Also it needs to be noted that certain for certain game modes ONLY Stength/Int and Vitality matter. Some of these are Shadow War, Elder Rifts and Cyrangar defence. All of the other stats in these modes should be balanced but not prioritised. This is because Potency, Armour, Armour Pen and Resistance are capped much lower in these modes, so you’ll be pouring hundreds of points for like a 1% increase.
But its difficult to reach cap for f2p or low spender. Especially once you get into inferno 2 and 3. Actually a lot of people has a problem with it on 1. Also if you sacrifice like 500 int/str for fortitude it wont make your damage wet noodle.
If your CR is low the recommend no matter how high os your damage. and average damage is more than enough to win in PVE or PVP just don't expect to be on top tier becauee no matter what you do you need very high resonance and not damage from you FREE stats
@@Asswife This here is a different matter. CR penalty might out-pace any buff you have. So it's always sensible to get the required CR for the content and go +1000 more to max the bonuses. For the rest of the stats, Always aim to meet the requirement of the Hell/Inferno level You're farming in. But it is not possible to get all Armour, Amour Pen, Potency and Resistance. So when Sacrifice needs to be made, Potency and Armour need to go, so you will have high Damage, Life, Armour Pen and Resistance. Potency is bad because it's only good for PvP whales and it always competes with Resistance slot in green gears. Armour is bad because it needs high block chance, Block chance is very hard to acquire naturally as F2P. So until you've acquired the required block Chance to make armour worthwhile it's poor use of your resources to dump into Armour. ALSO, Crits ignore Armour, so forget about staying alive anywhere where PvP is required, lots of Firestorms going around. That is why the logical deduction is, acquire CR needed for activity, then get Damage and Life first, then Armour Pen and Resistance, with a third preference for Armour, and just forget about Potency.
@@vk.videos The argument here is that Strength/Intelligence gives both raw damage AND damage from armour pen. Because armour pen damage is % of damage when crit chance procs. Paying some attention to Main stats has double benefits to Damage and Armour Pen damage, while dumping all resources to Armour Pen only benefits Armour Pen damage and Armour. I am not saying it's easy to be in Inferno. I'm saying that when you don't have the resources to cover all stats, the optimal way to get your DPS up is to get first and foremost damage (outside of Tourmaline which efficiently should only be around ranks 5 to 6), then Armour Pen, and then maybe Resistance, and ONLY Armour after you got high Block Chance. I am currently at I1 going I2, my armour pen and resistance is 1.9K now with 14-15k damage and 160k life, 21.2K CR, 1.3k Resonance; cruising in I1 including solo-farming lairs, top-three DPS for Helli raid bosses. At the very least, what I do here works for me.

re-viewing after a certain time, I wonder why secondary attributes exist at all. I mean, for example vitality just increases life. So why vitality? Why not directly increase life instead? What's the use of this redundance?
great info for casual players that do not really have the time or patience to read and understand these stats, however for us veteran players and previous gamers of other games, this is something we figure out eventually on our own. Not necessarily whales have this secret, some whales that are not that competitive in the game have no idea about this too. It's more about gaming knowhow I guess. Though it is weird this is probably the first game I played that main stats such as str and int have such low value from.
Well. Once I Linked quite decent 3/3 item and someone said that its useless without vit ( he meant for pve... ) I think that things like this are obvious as well but aperantly not. Other hand for veterans there is not to much need to do videos tbh.
I have a question though since this is about whales wont tell me video. I have check the top 5 whales in my server and most of them have rank 35 to 40 on each attack , health and on both attack-health nodes on iben fahd. And most players who have focus on the secondary stats are the low spenders and free to play like me I focus on my secondary stats I do have almost 2.8k potency and I am just 1k reso. Am I missing something here?
This is because we started leveling Iben fahns as soon as the game was released and we had access to it. Back then the assumption was that +Life and +Damage were king, so the general strat was to pump the Life, Damage and Life+Dmg nodes up ahead of the others. Usually you'd keep them 5 ranks ahead of the others, and once they got to Rank 30 or so you could catch up the ones that were lower. There's no way to refund points now, so we're just stuck with it. Ranks are insanely expensive when they are up into the mid 30's and 40+ range, as much as 4000-7000 gems for a single rank depending on how high you are, so eventually you just bring the life / dmg nodes up because they are cheaper, not really ideal. Low spenders focusing on secondary stats knew to avoid life/dmg before it was too far progressed for them.
@@4lphao256 I guess you are right on the part that its because its cheaper to upgrade because this knowledge has been out for awhile now and I can still see them upgrading those attack and health nodes. Also maybe the whales are thinking since its very expensive to upgrade even for them that very few could make the perfect stats even if everyone knows where to put them. So doing a wide spread of upgrades will make it cheaper and will give them advantage still. Lets just say for example armor pen node is the best to upgrade and we tell everyone to put all their points on armor pen but the question is can you upgrade it? do you have enough resources to do it? so while you are putting all your points on the best node maybe you are rank 55 or 70 to exaggerate on it. Others that spread their upgrades have 25 to 30 each on every nodes. Then surely you still have the disadvantage.

@@3102nzain sure. Whales just build eveything. They have much more stats and attributes than actually need. Sometimes they switch regular gems to get more armor or armor pen. Same as res/pot. But in general they dont care much. Other hand as a low spender when your total amount of resources are limited and propably lower than the game expects you to have then you have to do some kind of trade off with your stats to get best of it. But as someone already said they will change it once dmg and hp become to expensive.
You also need to take into consideration how often your toon is useing each stat. So damage may only be increased by 10% but during your run you are useing that stat effectively 100% of the time. Where as say potency or resist will vary for each toon but to be comparable would have to be used atleast 50% of the time or they fall off even with twice as much bonus. Just something to think about.
I know to max out a toon you're going to spend thousands, and I see a lot of toons maxed out, I know at this day and age money is not that easy to get, I bet you if Blizzard did some investigations on some of these whale accounts, they would be band.
But to be very honest. Is it any problem to speed up video ? I always try to improve but I usually use at least 1.25 to watch any YT video. Thanks for your opinion.

In case of PvE I mostly concidered fortitude to gain crit dmg. In case of PvP ... I mean, without second attributes you mean nothing there.
