- The Jackson Hole Picnic is an unofficial triathlon attempted by some of the most elite athletes in the world. It entails a 24 mile bike ride, a 1.5 mile alpine lake swim, then a summit of the Grand Teton before turning around and doing it all in reverse on their way back to town.

I did the picnic with a buddy from Jackson last year. Most fun I’ve had in the mountains in a day! Nicely done guys!
Very cool, what an adventure. If the guy that struggled on the swim learned how to swim he would have been much better off. Not only did he have to stay in the water much longer, he also didn't get the body warmth from swimming harder. I can't imagine how cold that must have been slowly breast and back stroking 1.5 miles. Tough.
Great inspiration for getting the most out of a weekend!
Hope they brought a good bike lock to leave those things at the trailhead.

The first time I tried on a Merrell boot in an REI store, a lace hook (nylon? plastic?), flew off when I attempted to tie the laces. I've avoided that brand ever since, about a dozen years. This was a pleasing video, but really, it's just a long product-placement scheme.

why the heck did you not use fins to swim across the lake?
Same reason they did not use electric bikes. That would be cheating.
Same reason they didn’t use a helicopter to get to the top of Grand Teton
Why didn't they do it when the water was warmer?... it seems like it would have solved many of they're problems amongst the second swim. Kind of dumba nd dangerous if you ask me. PRetty cool video though. I look forward to more.

As well, they did not pay a park entrance fee...just rode right in. As famous adventure athletes, you should be setting a better example and supporting this country's great National Parks.
