idk what this says about me, but despite logging in every day, and trying for some of the Heroes that interested me throughout the past few months with the Orbs gained from logging in, I actually full on stopped playing the Paralogues and Main Story battles when Gatekeeper was announced, and for the past two days I've been burning through stamina potions (I've still got 500) collecting all the Orbs from the Normal and Hard difficulties, and the Lunatic whenever I can (though I'm not good at those), because I want to have a +10 Gatekeeper. I just finished Paralogue 48 of 62, and I (honestly) stopped playing the Main Story in book III, so I've got a whole heckin' LOT of free Orbs I've saved up! Can you tell that I'm excited for my boi??
Gonna grab either Marianne or Eirika, Marth or Gatekeeper would just be insta fodder for me. That aside, there are many compounding reasons why Marth and Eirika actually have 2 special skills unlike all past 2nd place characters; Limit backlash from Marianne, but mostly Gatekeeper being first. Marth alts since legendary all getting the Fire Emblem special, so it was basically guarenteed BMarth would get it, so they didn't want to leave Eirika with nothing. Lastly, Marth and Eirika have to compare to their legendary versions whom both have double prefs that will get buffed in the near future. Should Gatekeeper and Marianne have been second they probably would have just kept with the trend.
I was thinking on going for Eirika, but she being another lance cav and have low Def and some effects only on player phase instead of both phases and looking at Distant Pressure and seeing that I have at least 3 units that want that, I may grab Marth for free and fodder him tbh. Tbh I was hoping we would see a tier 4 Form with the new brave heroes and kinda wish they had done that instead of the Swift Surge, +9/+10 to 2 stats and super healing on both phases would be amazing, but at its stand, Swift Surge is okay...
I think it's amazing how many things I halfway called. I predicted Gatekeeper would be a pseudo beast unit who attacked by unleashing random Garreg Mach animals on his opponents. Instead, he does have those animals in his art, but attacks by unleashing random 3H characters. Also, I think it's hilarious that Rhea is in as the back half of a duo, as her alter ego, and now a random attack cameo, but not as simple Rhea. I predicted Eirika would be the lance unit and would use Vidofnir. She was indeed the lance unit, but just cosplays her brother (and Lyn) instead. Since Brave Ephraim got the sacred weapon of someone he was close to, it only made sense to do the same for Eirika. Stranger still that Tana appears right there in the demonstration. Thinking back, I still find it strange they made up a weapon for Deussel later instead of giving him Garm. I predicted that if Marianne didn't get Blutgang, she would be a beast unit and we'd see her monstrous form. While she's a tome dancer, she does harness that beast energy in her attack. Also, can two Brave Mariannes become the fabled perpetual dancing machine now?

The Choose your Legends 5 was great, but the most important of all, is that the whole team who created these Brave Heroes are doing ok due to the pandemic so far.
Mariane or Marth is who I'm going for, if I happen to pull Gatekeeper neat I guess, maybe then I won't struggle against Beast Edelgard in arena every week.
Let's be real here: Gatekeepr is the owner of the coolest weapon art we have seen. He commands power the likes of which we have never seen before. His refine will allow you to assign a number of units that partake in the attack, included with skills and specials. Everyone in the squad gets one hit. One after another. It doesn't end until everyone gets a hit.

Not allowed, unless you're talking about Valentine's Titania. Close Counter can't be inherited to melee units, so the same will still apply here.

Eirika doesn't neutralise follow up attacks when she initiates, she neutralises effects which prevent HER follow up attack.
And with this, things finally feel somewhat normal.
