At least in Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2 nurses are prominent memory of influencer. Alessa was/is in hospital and, James visited hospital a lot. In Silent Hill 3 they might caused by Alessa's memories pushing ahead and in Homecoming Alex has been hospitalized as well.
That`s true for Travis in Origins as well, as his mother died in a sanitarium. The nurses in homecoming I think are the result of multiple influences; Scarlett`s father being a dentist is one, Alex watching to much porn is probably the other.

Nurses and hospitals seem to be some kind connecting theme/location of every Silent Hill. I personally think Homecoming's otherworld is not as "strong" as it is in other Silent Hill-games. Must be result of several minds influencing it and as such it is much more confused and weaker at influencing enviroment and shutting people outside of it.
What’s really interesting though is Silent Hill’s (The Town I mean) tendency to retain the trauma from its previous visitors in the form of it’s monsters.

I'm pretty sure no one SHOULD or CAN know things about these games for sure, and we all have a different interpretation. Sating things like that as facts is really disrespectful, both to the developers for claiming to knw what was on their mind when writing and designing the game as well as to indirectly tell other people that their own interpretations are wrong. I have a lot of respect for people who can actually say "this is my personal opinion" rather than stating things as if they were facts. No-one knows what all of the details or implications mean and that's the way it should be. Interpretations and onions - not facts.

I had a fear of nurses growing up because of this game. But eventually got over it at some point. And I remember when I was playing Silent Hill 1 and 2 many many years ago, that these nurses really creepy and disturbing. And my theory back then would have been correct that the nurses are manifestations and had been influenced by the devil in the game. I love how the lore had been discussed here and the origins of the nurse in the game
One of my favorite things about Silent Hill is that there always seems to be a deeper representation through basically everything and everyone, it's so intriguing! Great video!

Lisa Garland is one of the most tragic figure in Silent Hill. Not really sure why she was chosen to care for Alessa, but it's possible that Doctor Kaufmann got her hooked on White Claudia to blackmail her into doing his bidding and keeping Alessa's existence a secret. When the town turned into a nightmare, she didn't actually survive but rather it took longer for her to turn into a nightmare herself. Maybe it's thanks to an act of kindness from Alessa's soul, or maybe she just got lucky. Either way this enabled her to finally exact revenge on Kaufmann when he least expected it. The nurses with parasites wriggling on their backs were, in my theory, real nurses from Alchemilla Hospital affected by the reality altering deity residing within Alessa's body. So while they were warped by Alessa's perception and trauma into creatures, they were not hallucinations or constructs created by the nightmare like the ones in SH2 and others.
She was choose by Kaufmann because they were "together" (She gave him sex and him gave her drugs), that why he trust her (or maybe blackmail her to do the job).
I think the nurses where manifestations of Alessa warped by her fractured psych. Lisa is most likely dead and because she was associated with the cult and her being blackmailed to look after Alessa her soul lingered in the other world most likely due to her guilt etc. It is only when she realises that she died and also her guilt she transformed into a monster that she thought she was.
@@bluealice1386 Lisa died before the events of Silent Hill 1 (drug overdose) The Lisa during the events of the game is a manifestation of Alessa memories of while in the care of Lisa, hence why you only see her in the otherworld/nightmare hospital and when Harry asks her to leave with her she says "somehow I feel like I'm not supposed to leave this place." being tied to the otherworld.
well, James didn't have sex with Mary because she was sick and not in the mood as a result and was too faithful to cheat on her. Travis is always on the road and doesn't make time for real relationships. Alex is... well, Alex.
What I like about homecoming is they shouldn't had brainwashed him with the soldier imprint. The false memories gave him the military training to deal with the monster situations, especially use of his knife like rambo & his resourcefulness. If they're gonna do it, don't give memories that help increase their chances of survival if they come back. XD
So the nurses in SH1. Are they actually possessed by demonic entities or just manifestations? That one always confused me. (Never played the games just really into the lore) Cheers!
Wow, I had no idea on like 80% of this stuff. I love the Silent Hill games and yes the movies as well. I never got to play any of the games though. I wish they would make a series on Silent Hill but as an Anthology for each season to tell all the story like American Horror Story.
Most of the silent Hill franchises has something to do with hospitalization so it makes sense that nurses would be predominant since when you are in hospital one of the main people that you see and talk to are nurses of some caliber

I thought the doctors and nurses from the 1st game were victims of the same parasite that infected Cybil, not nightmarish hallucinations. That’s why Lisa (real person, not hallucination) said that she was just like *them*. They were real people who were taken over by the parasites and died.

I recently did a replay through of the Silent Hill games with my friends but OMG, we ended up having to watch a playthrough online because the controls of the first game was just impossible an even nauseating at times. Yikes.

In my opinion, you need to treat each Silent Hill as it's own entity. We know Harry's Mason/ Alessa Gillespie, version of Silent Hill is different from James Sunderland who's is different from Angela Orosco, which is different from Eddie Dombrowski, which is different from Heather's Silent Hill. To me, it is a flaw, and misses the point, when you try to have continued lore from Game to Game. Silent Hill, at its core, is a mental state of not knowing what is reality, and what is a dream. Perception distortion is Silent Hill. So, segment the lore, based on the specific game, rather than having an overarching narrative.
Bro I played a silent hill game like 3 times when i was a kid like i had to be 7 or something like that and the second i got into the room with the nurses and they'd start walking at me I'd freak out drop my controller and then get turn off my system
