The new airport is going to be inaugurated in March this year. It will be the largest and most modern in South America. Good video!

This is probably your last time arriving and leaving that airport. I say this ‘cause in a few months they will be inaugurating the new Lima airport that’s nearby. Then they will close this current airport shown in your video and remodel it for other purposes. The new airport is going to be completely modern and innovative as it will be part of an airport city concept…the only one in the Americas…not even the U.S. has it. I’m curious to see how it will unfold, and hope it really matches the plan.

Its gonna be horrible, the new one. It has bad design, its small like the old one. The only expansion is "more stores" and the "airport city" which is 0 worth to travelers, it just makes everything slower from going IN and OUT which is what you want from an Airport. The new airport will be SLOWER then the old one, they already declared this on national TV.

@ it will be alright..just that it won’t take the time they had planned on…but by the end of the year, it will definitely be near completion and matching what they had envisioned. Don’t be so negative smh.

      @@LightningClaireFarron390 I wasn't negative until i saw a few key things:
That the "real" entrance to the airport is 2km away from the entrance to the airport complex and they weren't going to let public transport inside, so you couldn't walk out of the airport like you can now. This is the biggest problem. This airport is INSIDE the city, not in the outskirts, it should have multiple entrances to benefit from the cities road network. And in the plans to build bridges across the river they only plan to have a 2 lane bridge, tiny for what it needs.
The actual airport area is smaller than the old airport, the only thing that's bigger is the area for restaurants, stores and with the "airport city" offices and more stores and stuff like that.
They are reducing area for migrations, it'll be smaller than the old airport, its already causing chaos during tests (obviously) they are relaying on "new tech will make it faster" but that's BS, its not, the lines are huge, and if there is any problem it gets super congested since there is little room to re rout people.
This is all with a small test of 2000 workers btw, the flow is supposed to be upwards of 40k.
They are focusing more on their "mall" than on the airport itself, they've mentioned without sarcasm or shame that the new airport will add 1h - 1.30h to the time it takes to take a flight, imagine buying an Iphone in 2025 and its SLOWER than the one you had in 2010.
And that's the most important thing, you want a new airport to be FASTER than the old one, they have FAILED at the most important task.

@ celdur4635 Like I said…I appreciate that you wrote all that…but like I said.. IT’S ALL GOING TO BE RESOLVED by the end of the year….incremental improvements … and the old airport is poised to become an extension of the new one…the streets surrounding it are also going to be modified…and for now people will just have to adjust to the temporary measures and inconveniences..but all should be resolved by the end of the year. End of story.

@@LightningClaireFarron390 I hope so. But i think you have too much trust on failing bureaucracy and failing concession that controls the airport. They designed it poorly from the start.
You do know that the "via expresa Santa Rosa" is going to take 4 years to build 4 kilometer stretch right? its a French company, ultra slow, its a G to G contract like the "nueva carretera central" which is also badly planned and will take 10 years to build. And its a road to nowhere, instead of improving the central valley, they are investing 24 billion soles, and the excuse not to improve the current carretera central is that "its too expensive to expropiate" bro its more expensive to build a road in the middle of nowhere in the mountains.
Also they are going to expropiate for the new "anillo vial perifèrico" and that's in the middle of the city, but it will not cost that much money.
This are all bad signs of huge corruption and wasteful spending and very bad planning, the winners of the "anillo vial perifèrico" are all corrupt companies with very bad reputation in Latam.
I want to share your optimism but this government is terrible.

Thank you for the great airport tour. I am from Singapore, and we will be in Lima coming September. Not many Asians go to South America for holidays as it take 36 hours to get to Lima from Singapore via Paris or Amsterdam. Oh no, I just saw another about the new airport but anyway big thank you.

You can book a Green Taxi just at the arrivals zone and would cost probably just as Uber, without confusión and the waiting time

The new terminal which will open in March, will be almost three times bigger than the current one. It will have three concourses: one for international, one for domestic and one "mixed"

It's a shame you never went to Barranco, apart from San Isidro and Miraflores, it is another lovely and safe neighbourhood, which is very near Miraflores indeed, hope you can make it on your next visit if you ever return
