After all of the Division Championships that ended in postseason disappointment I always said if the Nats finally break through it will be a year in which they sneak into the playoffs as a hot Wild Card team & win it all! IT HAPPENED!!!
i was at this game, and when it left gamels bat my heart stopped because it sounded like a hard liner and the trajectory looked like it was going far from where i was sitting, then it landed in sotos glove and it was the happiest moment of my life
I was sitting in the second deck, so when it first got hit we all had a quick thought of it might’ve gone out, but quickly we realized it was gonna be the last out
2:15:00 look how Grandall sets up, the top of his mitt is the top of the strike zone. he keeps it there and flicks his wrist to try to give the illusion he caught the ball in the zone. Hader hit his spot perfectly but good on the ump for not letting that excellent frame impact his decision.
@@joshuapatrick682don’t forget number 4 after the play when it sets in that we just took the lead in an elimination game. Drinks and snacks were flying everywhere!
8:54-Grandal’s 2 Run Home Run (2-0 Brewers) 20:18-Thames’s Solo Home Run (3-0 Brewers) 46:08-Turner’s Solo Home Run (3-1 Brewers) 2:17:30-Soto’s 3 Run Double (4-3 Nationals) 2:23:38-Nationals Win 4-3
Michael A. Taylor being hit by a pitch(and getting the call), Ryan Zimmerman's broken bat bloop single, Anthony Rendon taking a high fast ball for ball 4. A lot had to go right before Soto won the game for the Nats and started the championship run.
Eric Thames has played Pro baseball in 3 different countries. He had a 3+1 with the Brewers but even though his OPS with them was 848 through 3 seasons they didn’t exercise the 4th year option for 7 million which is kind of odd.
Not even a nats fan but I picked them to win it all as soon as soto got that hit it changed everything FINALLY something went the nats way in the postseason
Uh, they could've had Roberto Clemente in right and the game is still tied with every intangible (Hader shot...go-ahead run in scoring position...previously funereal crowd in a frenzy) in the Nationals' direction - the real injury what-if is whether Cain would've caught Zimmerman's bloop on two good legs.
Was at this game & after going down 3-0 I started to think to myself here we go again… but man oh man was I wrong. Best night of my life. After seeing so many first round exits live at nats park damn did this feel good.
That means the Washington Nationals are at least the 5th team to be a Wild Card but still make it to a World Series--Giants and Angels in 2002 & Giants & Royals in 2014
13th - the six mentioned plus the 2000 Mets (lost), '04 Red Sox (won), '05 Astros (lost), '06 Tigers (lost), '07 Rockies (lost), and '11 Cardinals (won)...and the 3rd NL East Wild Card to win the pennant while the division-winning Crybravies got knocked out in the NLDS.
Not a fan of either team but this seemed like a game that was stolen by the Nats, and was the jump start that didn't end until they raised the trophy. The Brew Crew outplayed the Nats thru 8.2 innings and that's what's beautiful about baseball..no clock, if you have OUTS left, you have a chance and 1 bounce can determine the winner
Say what you want about the “pace” of baseball compared to other sports, if a team is down 3 touchdowns in the NFL with 6 minutes left in the 4th they’re highly unlikely to come back. In baseball the swings are so intense and fast. The Brewers were cruising and just needed 4 more outs and all of a sudden only had 3 themselves to survive…crazy game.
Either the third base coach mistakenly waved him to third or, more likely, an excited and immature Soto got overly enthusiastic and didn't pay attention to the coach's hold sign. Either way, it could have been costly as it deprived the Nats of an opportunity for one or more insurance runs.
This guy in the live chat @uncle chicken1 has a hard on for Canada, particular Montreal, getting a new MLB. I can absolutely sympathize with him as a Northern Virginian who didn't have a mlb team for so long. That said, seems pretty scummy as if he's subtly trying to say "Come on MLB, relocate the Nationals back to Montreal already!" Ugh, if that's what he was saying then screw him.
I remember watching this live... Absolutely wild!
Thats why it’s called the Wild Card. Lol
I remember being there
Imagine being there! It's my favorite sports memory by a mile.
@@anilvirginiaI just wish this nationals came back but the players separated away
What a comeback by Washington Nationals. Juan Soto and Trea Turner are great player's 👏
2019 MLB was the last great year ever for MLB.
I agree
Then all the players went to different teams and got traded and it’s weird for me

I’ve got to say, Max’s expression before the first pitch is the best thing I’ve ever seen.

I always love how silent it gets in that stadium on that last swing, fans wondering if that's a home run

I miss baseball so much
as soon as the ball passes grisham you can hear the crowd just got louder at that moment
It was 3 distinct volume increases 1. On contact 2. When the ball landed in front of Grisham 3 when he misses it and it’s rolling past him.

Lol thx
beat game i’ve ever seen in my life. seriously have never been somewhere as loud as that 8th inning
juan soto really voodoo black magicked trent grisham into visualizing that the ball was somewhere else what an incredible player
Some moments are too big, even for the professionals. Yelchin plays and the Brewers are probably NL Pennant winners.

poor Grisham though
the sent him to San Diego for that misplay

Andrew Stevenson from my hometown of Lafayette La. Didn’t know that. Hopefully he gets back to the majors

NATS 2020
Hello gee, its gee again
It's so weird to watch this game and see a stadium packed with fans. I'm getting too used to cardboard cutouts
And Gamel smoked that last out, if he pulls it or hits OPPO, tie game or Brewer lead- BUT not this day
0:59 it's Christian Bale!
I'm not intentionally knocking the Brewers here (OK, MAYBE A TAD)
But they're becoming more and more like the Packers every year in the postseason...
Forget about Jim.
Whats the song the nats took the field to?
howie "veteran monster" kendrick
remember when Rendon was good and cared about baseball? I guess I wouldn't care either if they had to pay me 245,000,000 no matter what...

big baseball fan
Too many ads
Victor Robles= scared of the ball.....they cut Taylor who is just as good offensively and better defensively...
The Brewers then send Grisham to SD. Not sure if that was a smart decision.

I think he intentionally forced a rundown to guarantee the third run scoring

Josh Hader, one of the best closer in the league. What happened in that innings was just bad luck.
