What an awesome game in an awesome atmosphere! Please Kansas City, do not tear down Kauffman Stadium! That place has too much history for it to be destroyed! If Wrigley Field and Fenway Park survive the test of time so can Kauffman Stadium!

Because you love baseball, and win or lose, this was one of the greatest baseball games ever played! Both teams fought so hard, it's a shame one of them had to lose.

I consider this revenge for Charles Finley screwing over Kansas City and moving the A’s to Oakland in 1968.
Before Finley moved them to Oakland he was considering Atlanta and he wanted Lamar Hunt to come with him. So not only did he screw KC out of their baseball team he tried to take the chiefs as well.
Damn, this same Royals team dismantled my Orioles in the ALCS. Our fate would have been different

This is prob the most painful loss in A's history. The game was just a microcosm of the entire season. Started off red hot, best record in the league. Make the Cespedes trade and barely can win 1 outta 3 games in a series. Somehow snuck into 2nd wild card seed, take lead after leaf in WC game and ultimately gut punched in the end.

I'm an a's fan but this game to me is perhaps the least deserved playoff win I've ever seen. the comeback is incredible and I have no hate for the royals, but down the stretch, every hit they get besides hosmer's rocket triple is ridiculously bad contact/very lucky. superb strategy and baserunning though i'll give them that.

No, watch the entire game. Grow your attention span. When you just watch highlights you lose the entire essence of the game.

@@ibraheemrao8434 i would say that's about as good as any team, making the playoffs 6 times in 10 years. just unlucky, if you make it to playoffs you have a shot, from there it's a bit luck. everybody knows that dodgers were better than the nats, and the astros were better, but they won against those two.

I remember watching this live in the Kansas state university rec center. Very busy gym, to hundreds of people gathered around a TV. one moment I’ll remember vividly for the rest of my life, and perhaps one of the greatest baseball games to ever take place.

Admittedly, I'm watching this game as the world is in "lockdown" mode in light of the COVID-19 situation. Still, I'd rather be watching historic baseball games-- especially postseason games-- than what's currently on the major networks.
The NL Wild Card Game was not very entertaining SF8-PIT0. San Francisco would go on to have a magical run of there own. Eventually the Giants and Royals would meet in the World Series and the Giants would win in 7.

At 3:45:46, heartbreaking shot of Adam Dunn in the dugout watching the Royals celebrate. In a 14-year career, this was his first (and only) postseason game, and he didn't even get an AB. He retired afterward...
Yup, as a White Sox fan I ended up bonding with him after his disatrous 2011 season. He won fans over by doign what he did best, slug when we needed him too despite consistently hitting .240. I remember him saying he was retiring then got a second wind when he was traded to Oakland and then felt REALLY bad when they failed.
i like ernie johnson but he is not good at calling games😂 no emotion. at least his voice doesn't portray it enough in big moments

Kauffman stadium turned into an absolute nightmare for opposing teams until the end of 2016. The arrowhead crowd immediately came over while the Royals were contenders.
Now they are horrible and will be horrible for decades.

Every time when I feel losing hope, I would watch this game again.
This was an incredibly hard fought game and both teams were evenly matched. Fantastic game and exciting to watch 👏 This makes me wonder why people think baseball is boring? Golf is boring but baseball has me on the edge of my seat alot of the time.

9 years later not a single player is still active except Gore and Dyson because of the new Designated Runner rule... Several played last year but were clearly on the way out. Maybe Moustakis gets a platoon/depth role for a non factor again? Donaldson's probably done, Hosmer's definitely cooked. oh well, it was a fun ride while it lasted and they got paid 9 figures to play a game no one watches anymore.
