Canlander reminds me of what makes MTG amazing. Seeing awesome old cards for nostalgia, discovering old cards I've never heard of, and watching POWERRRRFUL Magic.
Here in the middle of COVID. Serge said he's playing Mill next Memes & Moxen and I'm anxiously waiting for that day whenever it happens. I miss these haha
During the live event, Alex went to say “My Brain is melting” but it came out as“My br-“ before the stream was cut. In all honesty, I really want to build Jeremy's deck.
Re: serge's drop of honey in match 2 game 1 around 1:15:00 Wouldn't starfield make it a 1/1, letting him sac it after just a few turns? He'd lose a few things, but not his whole board. Edit: wait, was starfield was exiled? That would explain it.
At around 1:15:00, could Serge have attacked with his Doomwake Giant first, and presuming Jer blocks and kills it, then casted Replenish for the 4 enchantments, including Doomwake, giving -4/-4 to the other 2 on Jer's board?
Can we get a North 100 episode talking about card alters and supporting the artists who did them by giving them credit and us links to commission them?
Metalisha i dont understand.. so u say they cant play their cards in australian highlander? Do u know that format? U van use any cards in that format except for the cards that are banned in vintage
These decks are so sick!!! Just of curiosity though, is there a reason Alex isn't playing Saffi Eriksdotter? That card actually just goes infinite with Angel, Aristocrat and Blood Artist, and doesn't seem that terrible if you're just playing it as a bear or protecting a Lord/Druid. Thanks again for the episode!
@@mutedknght and ironically, they made an illegal move to fix it being selecting Dance of the Dead with Snapcaster Mage since Snapcaster can only target instants or sorceries and Dance of the Dead is errata'd to be an enchantment
@@steelwooly except they at that point weren't resolving Snapcaster Mage, they were resolving the ninja coming into play as an Eternal Witness, letting him return whatever he wants
@@steelwooly the illegal move was when Palace Jailor got targeted by Dance of The Dead, since it should've been put back on the battlefield when Fatal Push got rewinded.
@28:48 How did he Eternal witness a fatal push if he already used flashback to cast it earlier with the Snapcaster mage. Should it not have been exiled from the Flashback?
Hey, how are there so many judges and they did not notice the fault with the green sun's zenit @ 2:55:05. He directly shuffles the zenit into his deck when there are 2 shuffle Trigger. One after searching and 1 to shuffle zenit back into deck
Simon Mahnert that’s a very common shortcut because green sun zenith is worded in a way that causes redundant shuffling in s format with a ton of shuffling and the rules are relaxed. The judges are fine.
Constant stuttering camera. It might not seem like that big a deal to most. But for some reason, it really bugs me and makes it hard to watch. Sorry guys, love you all.
Sorry if this has been addressed before, but does the Canadian Highlander community frown upon proxies? The decks in this video cost anywhere from $3700-$6200. That's great if you already have these cards in your collection but for someone who wants to get into this format who has no power 9/dual lands, how would they go about affording these decks for a tournament? Love the content!
Tl;dr, we use proxies all the time. In the first episode of North 100, they suggest proxying decks and playing with your friends. And no one will begrudge you proxies to play, just in tournaments with actual prizes on the line. Even then, they've made it clear they're fine with the collector's edition gold-borders and such because it's not a sanctioned format. At an actual sanctioned, Magicfest event, THEN you have to get the real things.
At sanctioned magic events, you have to use real cards, but often at unsanctioned events you can use collector's edition cards which, while STRICTLY NOT PROXIES, are much cheaper than the original editions. Also, there are quite a few good budget decks that are lots of fun while still being competitive. Let me know if you need links!
This looks like totally normal magic to me. One of the first cards I ever owned was phantasmal image and I play most of my games via my Lazav, Dimir Mastermind commander deck. Is having to remember what each of your creatures is copying and what all the good creatures in your opponents graveyards are is not just how magic is played? lol I don't feel guilty about having two sheoldreds on the battlefield if I'm not running a single copy lol
guys, sorry to be a negative nancy, but do we have to read out what the cards do? Wasn't the point of the card reader to stop that being necesary? I just feel it makes the game grind to a halt while explaining what a card does when it's there for people to see. sorry if i'm missing something it's just a personal peeve of mine
Also unless you’re familiar with the cards being played the interactions aren’t always intuitive. The card reader is good for knowing the identity of each card played, but it doesn’t make it clear why what happened happened.

Jer is the only one to show up with a legal deck for this format. All hail Jer, The King Who Cycled
Alex: "Did I fall into a coma and miss M19?"
Me: "No, it was after you rotated out"
Jer vs. Ben with serge as table friend was easily one of the most hilarious matches I've ever seen
I go back to this video every few months and just fall in love with it more every time
that first game... no words...
best game i've ever watched
One of the most fun games I ever watched.
out of context magic sentences: "ok looter scooter is on the board and the rat has been clamped"
I'm so happy with what Jeremy brought. I'm on his side about bringing something a bit less competative. I love to see cards not normally shown.
I've never laughed so hard at a magic deck then I did with Jeremy's and Ben's game. BRAVO!
Ben's deck should have been called "You made this? I made this."
CanLander is by far, my absolute favorite content from you guys! Keep doing it please!
Canlander reminds me of what makes MTG amazing. Seeing awesome old cards for nostalgia, discovering old cards I've never heard of, and watching POWERRRRFUL Magic.
1:57:59 (Whimpering voice), oh help me, my deck is full of cycling cards, OOPS, I DREW A LIBRARY!!!!
Absolutely love the Canlander content ❤️
this is easily the best magic content on the interwebs, hands down
gotta love that the crown used for the Monarch was actually the same as the one used in Friday Night :D!!
This is actually a lot more fun than the usual Highlander decks.
Here in the middle of COVID. Serge said he's playing Mill next Memes & Moxen and I'm anxiously waiting for that day whenever it happens. I miss these haha
memes and moxen mentioned recently! i am hopeful.

I just realized that Ben has a Sensei's Divining Top tattoo above his Ponder tattoo. Nice.
Im so hype for this. I watched this stream, visual errors and all
Please bestow onto us the muscle wizard list
Rewatching in Neon Dynasty spoiler season. So excited for Wheeler to have a real Master Splinter card at last.
I’m a simple man. I see Canadian Highlander and I click.
I’m pretty sure I heard serge call nyx fleece ram “fleece mane nyx” which frankly sounds like an awesome card to me
59:54 Serge Yager, predicting Vince receiving a bucketing 7 months before the Throne of Eldraine PPR
Serge's play-by-play is really helpful when listening to this in the background
that ben and jer game had me in stitches.
I too have a German black-bordered 4th edition Demonic Tutor. Pure class.
last time i checked, jace the mind sculptor was not an enchantment
i've never heard jer laugh so hard at the end of him and ben's match, and rightfully so XD
At around 1:15:00, could Serge have attacked with his Doomwake Giant first, and presuming Jer blocks and kills it, then casted Replenish for the 4 enchantments, including Doomwake, giving -4/-4 to the other 2 on Jer's board?
Yeah
They are only humans and they're playing at REL-axed
I was just wondering it it worked that way or not :D
How long until we get to see Ben play 5 color garbage fire?
Have you seen it in all it's glorious, shiny flames yet?
Hey, can we get Memes and Moxes 2: Electric Boogaloo?
Can we get a North 100 episode talking about card alters and supporting the artists who did them by giving them credit and us links to commission them?
God Canadian HIghlander seems like a fun format if it wasn't prohibitively expensive
I hess see r many canlanger groups allow proxies so you can feel the “full wheeler experience”
26:22 fatal push should be exiled, but then wheeler returns it to hand next turn.
this is in my top 3 streams of all time
Never played a game of can lan in my life but life these videos more wheeler and jer please
Wish I had the money to make spicy decks like this. Too bad I don't wanna spend $100+ for one card lol
This just makes me wanna build sans white living end
But where cleric tribal?!
(This video rocked)
Im hoping to see Four Horsemen tonight, will update after watching.
Oh man "Prepare to shinei" fuckin got me
At 20:07 did Ben tap a pain land for colour and not lose life?
Me watching Cycling.dec: "Where is fluctuator!!!!"
What’s the video with muscle wizards? I want to witness the magic but I can’t find it
the funny thing is now, there is a viable cycling card. makes em free!
U guys ever tried australian highlander “7 point highlander”?? Would love to see soms content of that format
this format was made so they could play with their cards, why would they do that
Metalisha i dont understand.. so u say they cant play their cards in australian highlander? Do u know that format? U van use any cards in that format except for the cards that are banned in vintage

I dont think he knew about the combos when he built the deck for this epsiode
Can anyone link the muscle wizards deck?
Is Ben using the John Avon islands from invasion? I can't quite make them out.
Yes, Island #336
So the real question is where is the video of the muscle wizards deck win?
Ben is playing my worst pauper brew D:
Ben’s deck is Master Splinter twin
Wasnt fatal push in exile due to snapcaster? Therefore how did he return fatal push from sakashima?

Lots of people listen to the games in the background while doing other things so reading out more obscure cards is really helpful in this situations.
Also unless you’re familiar with the cards being played the interactions aren’t always intuitive. The card reader is good for knowing the identity of each card played, but it doesn’t make it clear why what happened happened.
