Only when external validation becomes MORE important than self-validation is it a problem. But interpersonal relationships don’t exist without validation.

A kind of weird thing happened with the pronouns too... in an effort to be more respectful, I think people get addressed LESS. Most people are tolerant. However it's tricky when you see a woman, say 'she', and are told the person wants to be referred to as 'they'. I'll try, and it isn't intentional to say 'she' it just isn't what you think about... so I just don't say anything to 'them' sometimes. Or at least less. Makes me happy to have noise cancelling headphones.
If you needed to or wanted to, you would talk to them and use their preferred pronoun. No issues with that here. Keep it up.

People can live however they want and be whatever they want as long as it isn't impacting me or forcing me to do something (like, 'agree'). So if I see a guy, I'll say he. And if it's the identity issue or pronoun ok fine. Usually I'll remember but it's subconscious and unintentional. So it's easier for me to say " you know what? Let them be" and check out. Like ok great for the person to feel better. But... also better for me to feel better and not deal with it.
