I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shock both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well.

What Nick says about school, about the necessity of learning to work and enjoy working, is so important. That's the primary issue I see with institutional education, and with policymakers' measures towards it. There's a singular focus on content rather than process, and it leaves so many students behind not just academically but in life in general. I'm one of them, sad to say.

I don’t know the date of this interview, but if it was 1987 before their show, I was there. Drove from Rochester New York there. They opened with echoes ( part 2 I believe). Great show. My only criticism here is David’s comments about roger. The bad blood must have run pretty deep for him to say anything at all. Ultimately the way David brought Rick back in was pure class
I thank god for a world that includes pinl floyd. Saw band twice, 1980 wall and the version of floyd without roger in 1988. the wall concert was , is , and forever more will be special. However, they are great regardless of the personel changes. Watching dave play comfortably numb solo on top of a 1oo ft high wall was beyond cool. Flody rules!
One of the biggest reasons "Dark Side" stayed in the charts is because everyone (especially audiophiles) kept buying it over and over again as soon as there was an clicks or pops (much less skips!) on the vinyl. You wanted that pristine, and the beginning of that album is so quiet that you don't want to hear all that crackle burying the music. (I feel like that's one reason White Album also sold so much over the years; you couldn't hear 'Long Long Long" if the record had too much wear on it, plus you had all those acoustic tunes on side 2. Not everyone kept their vinyl so pristine.)
I am producing a retrospective film on Roger Waters. Could I please ask permission to maybe use a small clip from some of your videos? Kind regards Barry

As stated by Nick, as you get older, you understand why we should learn, sadly for me,nobody ever told me why I was at school. . Growing up, playing with a .musical instrument can be more productive than actually playing one.
I saw them in a video that I cant seem to remember interviewing all of Pink Floyd tripping balls. They responded exactly as they are in this interview. No egos. Nothing but good guys, good vibes. These guys should offer a seminar on being a real person.
Unspoken the Wall tour, momentary lapse tour, in The Division Bell Tour. And you can tell the last two they were actually having a good time! Smiling, more relaxed. You didn't see that at the wall shows! Was Roger Waters gone, the band was fantastic and you can tell they were enjoying themselves for once!
I have a couple of questions... 1. Where are they that they can't get privacy from someone announcing phone calls? 2. I was just a kid in the 80s and 90s. Was David considered a heartthrob back then? I've only recently started looking at old interviews of Pink Floyd and I was surprised at how handsome he was.

I was at Wembley stadium my favourite gig. Ever.
Speaking of the p.a. When they played echoes part 2 the weird” seal” noise was bouncing around the stadium . It was really cool
I think David Gilmour matured quite late on in life. He’s certainly mellowed in 2021.
Might be due to being 75 Years Old
One can smell the sassyness through the screen. And I love it.
He went to prep school.. from a very well connected family.. Extremely wealthy with his collection of vintage cars, properties and investments. Just your typical rock star.. .Total fraud
$20 on a ticket?! Ah the 80’s. My PF tickets stubs were around $30+/- from that era.
I paid £20.00 for Wembley stadium. That was big money then. Ticket touts were selling them for £100.00 + outside on the night.
They are so gracious and not full of themselves....and they put up with all the annoying page announcements. That in itself is impressive never mind that they are rock music giants. They even manage a funny quip about sampling a jet sound that happens in the back .

"We're just so relieved Roger's gone!" ...Or did I hear that wrong?
HAHA yes you heard right
*"They're....."
@@samuelluria4744 what's that for
@@funkydung. - The quote is "They're". In other words, they, meaning the audiences.
Thnx, fellas.
Is it just me or does Nick Mason look like Eric Idle?
I thought so too lol
I don't know about that but David is a dead ringer for Rik Mayall.
could they not have found somewhere less public for the interview ?
Legends 💪
I can’t imagine a more cool and laid back cat than David Gilmour
34:10 and "Learning To Fly" is born.
Learning to Fly!!
Love that Charvel Dave is playing at the end
I don’t know the date of this interview, but if it was 1987 before their show, I was there. Drove from Rochester New York there. They opened with echoes ( part 2 I believe). Great show. My only criticism here is David’s comments about roger. The bad blood must have run pretty deep for him to say anything at all. Ultimately the way David brought Rick back in was pure class
this was in Toronto at the airport
I thank god for a world that includes pinl floyd. Saw band twice, 1980 wall and the version of floyd without roger in 1988. the wall concert was , is , and forever more will be special. However, they are great regardless of the personel changes. Watching dave play comfortably numb solo on top of a 1oo ft high wall was beyond cool. Flody rules!
27:10 fucking epic! 😂
the random guy from the beach and the Buffet of racing cars on one couch !
What tour and what year was this shot from?
Momentary lapse of reason. Delicate Sound of Thunder
@@funkydung. thanks!
Filming was at the Toronto Airport
1987
22:25 Gilmore saying Poison should be poisoned...lol
One of the biggest reasons "Dark Side" stayed in the charts is because everyone (especially audiophiles) kept buying it over and over again as soon as there was an clicks or pops (much less skips!) on the vinyl. You wanted that pristine, and the beginning of that album is so quiet that you don't want to hear all that crackle burying the music. (I feel like that's one reason White Album also sold so much over the years; you couldn't hear 'Long Long Long" if the record had too much wear on it, plus you had all those acoustic tunes on side 2. Not everyone kept their vinyl so pristine.)
Who is interviewing here? It sounds like Paul Gambaccini.
0:38 I page magazines backwards too.
Lol why
Ditto.

this was epic!!!!! anyone know what year this was?
87 .........in Toronto international Airport look for the rehearsal
@@funkydung. ohhh!!! thats an hour drive from my house!!! thanks for the reply!!
David looked really good here, by the end of the MLOR tour, he looked kinda rough
great point!
@@bigtwit799 howdy James, hows it going? r u the "James Guthrie" who worked with Pink Floyd and remastered their records
@@edwardl.492 No but I'm happy to share the name. I used to know a guy unlucky enough to be named Peter Sutcliffe so I'm not complaining LOL

I am producing a retrospective film on Roger Waters. Could I please ask permission to maybe use a small clip from some of your videos?
Kind regards

Well theses aren't my recordings I'm assuming it Would be ok depending how you would release the film just Pink Floyd management might come after you as they went after Floydpodcast.com
@2braindamage cheers, mate. I won't be using any copyrighted stuff as I know it's not worth the hassle. Thanks for your reply. It is much appreciated.
Kind regards

As stated by Nick, as you get older, you understand why we should learn, sadly for me,nobody ever told me why I was at school. . Growing up, playing with a .musical instrument can be more productive than actually playing one.
I saw them in a video that I cant seem to remember interviewing all of Pink Floyd tripping balls. They responded exactly as they are in this interview. No egos. Nothing but good guys, good vibes. These guys should offer a seminar on being a real person.
I'm gonna remix this some day.
Such a similar situation as Mick jones versus Lou Gramm of Foreigner.
27:08 Gilmour-Waters feud explained in five seconds
if tony banks was sat with dave and nick they sound and speak very similar....do t you think guys ?... x
Saw this tour..sorry Roger's Radio Kaos show killed it
When and where did this interview take place?
Pearson Airport, Toronto, Canada 1987
@@funkydung. Thanks. In their prime.

The toys get bigger... their next goal is astronaut licence
1:05:00 Rachel fury on stage and he zooms in on the wall

It came on the rehearsal for the momentary lapse of reason tour boot

People not forget Syd laid foundation
Why relevant here tho?
At 05:30 the interviewer speaks of "$20 a ticket" for a Pink Floyd show. Groannnn.
