What's crazy is historically the Romans actually FLOODED the coliseum to re-enact great naval battles from past campaigns!! They REALLY did that shit fam!!!
There's a great Docudrama series on the History Channel called Colosseum that shows all the crazy stuff they did.
Yeah, i am from Rome and we actually came up with the most fucked up things we could come up with. Piazza Navona was used as a naval battle arena too for it's size. Now that you mention it, the colosseum IS sturdy enough TODAY to host gigs, rock bands, anything. They should only pave it, it pretty much can stand anything. If you've never seen it, should you come in Rome, the arena is actually smaller than it makes it look like, but whatever! SPQR.
we should do it in modern times. Flood the O2 arena. Get some mock naval battles happening. No actual violence, but something interesting. Sport as it currently stands is really boring.

What movie doesn’t seek to garner as much appeal with the audiences, especially the younger audience who makes up the vast majority now. I’m on the older side of Gen Z, Gladiator was a childhood movie for us as well. Nothing abt the music choice ruined it nor is making me think it’s gonna bomb. Literally almost everybody making such comments are white pfp bc they don’t like rap.

It is nice to see a legit reaction to what appears to be from the trailer, a legit movie. People on other reactions want to be bent out of shape about race in these movies or if it is accurate. To be honest, original movies of this same type, are not legit accurate, but to put it neutral, created with an agenda. I believe it is accurate enough to get a taste of what it was like. It doesn't need to be extreme accuracy. It is entertainment. For extreme accuracy we can watch a documentary and even then it may not be extremely accurate. You guys went in a different direction and looked at it for what it was and for that I applaud you. In a lot if cases when we ignore the critics and go see a movie, we enjoy it. Then we scratch our heads to what they were talking about it the 1st place.

I'll probably watch because Denzel & Pedro are in it. Judging by the trailer, the plot of the movies seems chaotic. Also, it looks like switched the actor for the character of Lucius. Too bad they couldn't bring back the original actor to play that character as an adult 😕
I'm going to admit to yall right now that I've never seen Gladiator... but I HAVE worshipped that Hans Zimmer score for twenty-five straight years XD
You know Ridley probably called Denzel, maybe even went to his house and was like ‘Here's the script read it when you get a chance and get back to me, but let me tell you what I want to do and why I think you would be great for the part.’
Denzel doesn't do these types of movie options and Ridley would know that so would approach him in a way that Denzel would see how serious Ridley was about him being in the movie.
From what I know from Ridley Scott, it very much seems like something he would do, if for no other reason than if you're a big-name director going after an actor of Denzel’s level about a movie you're doing. You have to go directly to them and not through their agent, it's just that level of respect that he’s earned.
Are you unaware that Denzel and Ridley knew other and that Ridley’s brother, Tony Scott, a brilliant filmmaker in his own right, directed some of Denzel’s greatest films and was a beloved friend of Denzel’s??? Tony Scott committed Suicide out of the blue, what was it, about 7 years ago? Took everyone by surprise because he had everything. It is presumed he had incurable cancer. I think this film is a salute to Tony and his relationship with both of them.. ( do your homework)

Pedro and Denzel look incredibly impressive!🔥😎 But I think the sequel would be interesting if it had featured Russell Crowd. And continue the legacy of his heir. But I feel like it could be good, although the rap... doesn't fit and I saw it sounding too strange.
His son died in the first one and I think they killed everyone close to him except the sister so they had to use a new character who idolized and was inspired by maximus.

@@rari2943 Its not down to Scott, its the studios these days. Look at Napoleon; they stuck a modern song in that halfway through. The studio thinks its appeals to youth. The target audience of this film is 12 to 30, fans come second....sadly.
The music in the film is by a good composer (Harry Gregson-Williams) who has done loads of films, and Scott has used him before on The Martian, Kingdom Of Heaven, and The Last Duel.

Btw the song in this trailer was made over 10+ years ago, it isn't modern, and it actually fits the movie if you actually listen to the lyrics. Plus it's not like it's going to be in the movie, it's just a trailer song. Do you know how many times they've used Rock, country and Pop songs in knight movies, or Roman movies 😂
@Mr.Panther2320 idk what you're talking about? I only saw the trailer with hz music, but I did see the napoleon trailer with war pigs in it and I felt that was out of place too..I get its easier to just allude that everyone's racist but you should try adding nuance to your thought process.
The money is all on the screen for sure. Looks like a spectacle. But also looks like a bloated, unnecessary, tonal mess with characters and themes that will pale in comparison to the original.
The super contemporary feel of the trailer especially with No Church in the Wild really just cheapened the whole thing.
