    I’m watching from Scotland and it’s quite a bit different up here. We do 7* exams in S4 (15-16) the best of which you can do is National 5 level. I did
    -N5 Music (A1)
    -N5 Physics (A1)
    -N5 Maths (A1)
    -N5 English&Scots (A1)
    -N5 History (A1)
    -N5 Chemistry (A1)
    -N5 Computer Science (A1 (Got 100%)
    *-N5 Applied Maths
    * While you only can do 7 subjects at N5 level there are actually 2 different maths courses which my teacher let me enter so I had 8 exams
    The number is purely cosmetic and people don’t usually mention their number unless they choose to study or work in England where the numbers subtracted by 10 are the same as the English GSCE and A Level grades
    At Higher (16-17) I did
    - Higher Maths (A1)
    -Higher Physics (A1)
    -Higher Chemistry (A1)
    -Higher Computer Science (A1)
    -Higher English (A2)
    Advanced Higher (17-18) is equivalent to a first year at uni overview level and it’s a good transition I haven’t done these exams yet so I will be providing my projected grade
    AdvHigher Maths (A2)
    AdvHigher Physics (A1)
    AdvHigher Chemistry (A1)
    Higher History (A1)
    Hoping to apply for aerospace engineering as spaceflight in particular has been my biggest interest since I was young
    It’s interesting as Scottish maths and physics courses don’t teach problem solving and weirdly this is lumped on with chemistry and computer science but I kind of like it this way as it has helped use easier disciplines to help hone my problem solving skills

    Nice. Pretty much stuck to this path with gcses 6-8 with a focus on maths at gcse and a level along with fm pure a level but I did mess up eng lang section B despite section A being a grade 7. It is nice you can get a B in Sheffield fm or AAB with EPQ but I’m aiming for Bristol as my main and most ambitious so need an A at least in everything

      As long as you do Maths and Physics at A level and get an A or above, you should be fine for mass majority of universities as long as your final A level is also a grade A or above.

    I'm 15 and doing my IGCSE's right now and from my predicted grades I may not get 7 in maths nor physics. I've chosen chemistry, physics, French and BTEC(engineering)for next year (AS-A levels) because I'm good at almost all of them. Is there even 1 chance that I'm going to be able to take this course in the future, I love aviation and plan to be a pilot or an aeronautical engineer. I also don't want to start the course straight away and want to go for a foundation course before (Engineering Foundation) That's why I'm also not planning to do my A levels just AS then go for the foundation. What if it's not possible what do I do? UWE is the university I'm focusing on right now. I'm an international student and never been to the UK however, I've heard they have good Universities so......

    • @SA64R
      @SA64R  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not familiar with the requirements to get into a foundation year, unfortunately, so can't really say whether it is possible or not. I would advise that you do some AS maths as that will help a lot if you want to study any sort of engineering subject. Mainly because the difference in level of maths between GCSE and A-Levels is quite noticeable.

    Hey, i just wanna ask how much effect your GCSE grades have on universities as I came to the UK in 2020 and because of covid didn't go to school and had to do kinda exam because they couldn't predict me but I didn't do well in my English as I got 5 in both of them but for science maths geography and history I got 7 and above. so is there any chance of me applying to Cambridge?

    • @SA64R
      @SA64R  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do think universities look at your GCSE results, however if you do well on your A levels I don't think anyone really cares. I mean some universities do have minimum requirements for GCSE maths and English so you'll have to do your own research per university but generally they ask for at least a B which I think today is at least a 5/6.

    What subject is mandatory for A level to choose architecture.
    Same for medicine?
    Is modern foreign language is mandatory for these courses?
    Thank you

  • @aluvr
    @aluvr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    at my school it’s super annoying, we have to do a language, rs, geography/history, maths, science, English literature and English language, which leaves us with only one option left to choose a creative subject or any other one, but if you pick triple science that takes up your last choice. I’m 14 and I want to be an aerospace engineer, i have no idea what to do lol. i wish we didn’t have to do rs, so i could have done dt/product design and computer science on the side (you can learn on youtube and stuff), and also because architecture could have been my backup plan in case I couldn’t become an aerospace engineer or changed my mind

    • @frosti8787
      @frosti8787 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i think that’s pretty ridiculous! i’m 14 too and we chose 4 subjects, i don’t see why other schools are still making people study rs, a language AND history/geography… really narrows your options. rs at the very least should be optional, it’s pretty niche lol. i reckon you’re fine though, architecture is still completely viable with what you’ve got, and triple science and math are the 2 biggies for aerospace - best of luck! :p

    • @SA64R
      @SA64R  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did a wide range of GCSEs, which included RS, geography, Spanish, physics, chem, bio, comp sci, eng lit, eng lang and maths. So I'd not stress out at the fact you've got to do a wide range of subjects. Looking back at GCSE times I do see the benefit of doing an wide range of subjects because, you need to specialise in any one thing when you're 15/16.

    Hi! I'm in y11 right now and am about to sit for my iGCSEs. I want to go into Mechanical Engineering and I was wondering whether Maths, Physics, Comp Sci and Economics was a good combo. I reason I want to take Econ is that I'm pretty good at it so I think it would guarantee me an A* at ALs. I can't deal with too much stress so I was wondering whether I'm shooting myself in the foot with doing 4ALs. I also want to mention I didn't do ComSci in GCSEs so I'm lacking in that but I am willing to learn it from scratch. Is it really useful for the course I'm trying to take?

    • @Br-gv1yl

      Um further maths is necessary for a lot of mechanical engineering courses and since you have no basis in computer science, I would recommend you take it instead. If it is too late, I recommend dropping computer science and doing further maths as.

    I'm in Year 12 right now, and I have a big passion for Aerospace Engineering however I'm scared about the scope for aerospace engineering in the UK. Jobs for engineering are saturated in terms of employment and that for me is the main priority. I want to get a job right after employment though this would be almost impossible.
    Also, were there any extra-curricular activities or work-experiences that you did which made your UCAS application stronger?
    What are your thoughts on this and are there any advice you could possibly give me?

    • @SA64R
      @SA64R  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're a UK citizen/able to get security clearance the aerospace job market isn't as difficult to get into (relatively), but there are other areas which have more roles available than aero eng. I didn't have any thing particularly amazing on my UCAS just stuff like I do sports with x club etc and other motivational stuff for why aerospace is what I want to do.

      Aerospace engineering (not speaking from experience, from people I know), is a great degree which allows you to go down many paths. Many are immediate employment such as working for the military which is my personal goal. My plan is to go on to be a pilot and eventually go on to fly for a company such as aer lingus (here in Ireland). Many opportunities that may not pay well when you are first employed but stick with it and the pay goes up. As long as you are dedicated to it, it will be a great journey that we will be experiencing together XD :)

    So I want to do electronics Engineering I'm still a secondary school student and just picked my options which are english language, english literature, history,computer science, combined science, french language, Design and technology and RE. Some of these are compulsory like the first . and RE. Do you have an advice for me on what to study or do? Do you think I should scrap Design and technology for Triple science or something else? Btw the only things I can change are computer science and design and technology everything else is compulsory because of Ebacc

    • @SA64R
      @SA64R  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would strongly recommend doing Triple science, it will help you out when doing your A Levels because you will have learned as much as you can in the sciences before sixth form. A Level sciences go much further in depth so it is always useful to know a lot beforehand. Plus doing something like Physics at A Level will be more or less required to study engineering. I would swap D&T for Triple science

      It depends on the University, it is common that a university will demand Maths and a science and anything else. So you having chosen Maths and Further Maths and Chemistry is ideal it doesn't matter you've not picked Physics.

    • @SA64R
      @SA64R  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say maths is a necessary A Level for quite a number of engineering degrees at top level universities. I'd say the best thing to do is to either swap one of your non-physics A Levels for Maths or apply for courses at top universities who offer foundation years which you don't need to have done maths. But I'd say just to make sure email the universities you want to go to, to check if no doing maths will hinder you just to get all the facts.

      I personally would stick to the core sciences and maths at A levels as they give you more options when it comes to picking what to do at university for example I did maths, further maths and physics. More universities value those types of subjects.

If you want to go to Uni do the extended diploma and aim for DDD to have a chance to get into a good uni. My plans for after college is uni or degree apprenticeship.

    I’m literally been cramming and self teaching myself further maths because my retarded ass chose geography instead of further maths 😂.

      @@sazidsarwar5599I suspect it is possible in countries like the UK, USA, and Australia however I don't know which universities in particular offer them. You will have to do your own research and call or email universities to find out more.
