    I'm convinced this is one of the greatest transcription ever! Can you imagine this in the hands of Daniil Trifonov? I bet he may be interested in this transcription. Thanks for opening up the cosmos with this incredible difficult masterpiece. It's amazing how Bach's music can be transcribed for any instrument and it still Bach at the core.

      Thank you so much for your high regard! I hope to release another video on this, as my technique is constantly improving. I am happy with the transcription itself and I don't foresee any significant changes. I would be thrilled if a world class concert pianist wanted to perform it!

      @@RuoshiSun , I can tell in this transcription your musicality and technique reached a new level. I've learned a lot from Émile Naoumoff here on TH-cam. His improvisations are incredible and he is one of the greatest living pianists.

    This is certainly one of the best videos I’ve seen on TH-cam… Fantastic transcription. Really next level. I also saw other of your Bach transcriptions and you have nothing to envy d’Albert, Busoni or even Liszt! Please keep up this fantastic work!

      Thank you for such a high regard! Indeed, I don't enjoy most of the Bach transcriptions from the Romantic Period, but Liszt is an exception. He only did a handful, BWV 542-548, and other than the "romantic approach" of the Fantasy from BWV 542 he was very faithful to the original. For these seven pieces I don't think I will produce my own transcription but will play Liszt's when the time comes. (I have recorded the Prelude from 543 in case you're interested: th-cam.com/video/XbCqP7t3NE8/w-d-xo.html )
      My interest in piano transcriptions was largely influenced by Liszt's transcription of the Beethoven Symphonies. I think it's the pinnacle of this genre and I have great respect for him. On one hand it is unfortunate that he only transcribed so little of Bach (it's totally possible that he didn't bother to write down, or that some were lost), but on the other hand the "vacuum" motivates me to create some of my own.

    Good evening Ruoshi さん ♪ It was a very difficult task. I feel that this is the culmination of Ruoshi さん’s efforts. I think that what is required is the ability to transcription this piece onto the piano, the skill to actually perform it, and, how should I put it, not having distractions. Knowing Ruoshiさん, I'm sure you will continue to make small adjustments in the future. I feel like I have witnessed the life of someone who believes in yourself and leads yourself to a better future. I think Ruoshiさん is also a craftsman ♪ 😊

      Thank you まゆみさん! Indeed, it took me many years of contemplation, before I transcribed it last year, and then I had to put it aside for another year to improve my technique. I'm glad I finally made it. A future revision is certainly possible, as I am still improving every day and have not reached my limit. However, if someone told me, when I just started taking piano lessons at the fairly late age of 13, that one day I would be able to transcribe and perform this piece, I would have taken it as a joke. I don't know what I will be capable of, so I am motivated to find out.

    how long did it take you to learn this. for ive been trying off and on. my most favorite music pieces ever...considering among the 4 gospels (matthew, mark, luke, john)...john has been depicted in the past 2,000 years as an eagle since his gospels soars above the rest...and the music bach created i believe this one does as well.
    Also, very nicely done!

    • @RuoshiSun
      @RuoshiSun  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I can't put a number... The transcription took me many years of contemplation and I never thought it was possible. However, I believe with all the other transcriptions that I've been doing/playing throughout the years (most importantly Bagge's transcription of St Matthew and my transcription of the Mass in B minor, but others as well) I learned enough to finally have the bit between my teeth and produce a first draft in 2023. Even though I was not able to play it at the time, I instinctively knew that it was playable (very much like the Kyrie from the Mass - check out my old videos and comments therein). I put it aside for a year as I worked on my technique. Then I reattempted, and after some practice, here it is. I'm putting this aside again to prepare for a higher level.
      So the short answer is a few hours to transcribe it and a few weeks of practice. But that completely misses the effort with all the preparatory work.
