So ridiculous to see a this like snow test with summer tires. And yes, all-season tires are really only for summer use. With studded or Nordic winter tires the result is completely different.
Recently got delivery of my phev Outlander. Also noticed the tires were slippery. Haven't looked at them but it was obvious they weren't snow tires. Loving everything else about the vehicle so far
I can’t find the video right now, but there is a clip on TH-cam from someone in Quebec in deeper snow than this on proper winter tires and it did somewhat better. My French is terrible but i saw a comment saying there is not enough power in the rear to compensate for loss in traction up front.

How well did you think that was going to end, with your hitting the snow wall at 2 and a half miles an hour 🤔 !😂 these cars are engineered for this type of thing and they are tough enough to plow right through the snow burm ! Snow driving requires momentum and a skilled driver!! I just bought the new 2024 eclipse cross 4x4 in black and white color. I absolutely love it!! I put a 2 and a half inch level lift on it and a set of 245..8.5x29 inch tires from BF GOODRIDGE ALL TERRAIN TIRES AND IM TELLING YOU THAT this little thing was unstoppable in the snow and mud driving!! I absolutely recommend buying one
And this is why I'm happy with my 2000 Silverado on all terrain tires that I bought used for $5100 in 2008. Runs great to this day and the 4x4 is SOLID. Would have no problems vs. that $45k (probably more) Mitsu.
In all fairness, this wasn't a particularly good test to measure snow performance or AWC capability! But to have a truck in the winter is always a good idea :)
You can't compare the 2. This isn't just purchased for snow performance but to carry people in relative comfort with all the amenities you might need. They're just crashing into snow lol.
That's not a fair comparison, Silverado doesn't have half the comfort of this SUV not to mention the fuel economy and the warranty. Totally different cars, a truck is more of a utility vehicle vs SUV that is kind of an all rounder for comfort, family and utility.
Would you mind please doing a video on the block heater? I don’t think I would need it anytime soon because I live in the Northeast USA and my area don’t get excessive snow or negative temperature. I just want to know where it is in the PHEV if there’s one and it’s application
The stock tires that come with these aren't the best and aren't 3 peak mountain snowflake rated. If you had winter tires or even all seasons with the 3 peak mountain snowflake, or all terrains this would be easy.
It was a better test of the AWD. Actually a practical test too because I think many use all-seasons in winter and even think they can go up to the (assuming plowed) ski hills.
Just got a LE in Canada (Vancouver) It came with Falken ZIEX ZE001 A/S which is definitely not a snow / winter tire Have been leaving the outlander parked and driving out 06 Lancer which has better tires for the snow this week Will end up buying snow tires for the outlander likely for next season and swap then in and out.

Did you place selector in Snow Mode?
I think Mud Mode is better than Snow Mode in this kind of situation.
Initially put it in Snow, then to Mud. Did have a lot of time to test and pay attention but mud seemed to do a better job.

Good ad for snow tires and to not entrust a car in the snow to a driver who doesn't know how to drive in snow :) That said, it preformed pretty good.

The tires 🛞 that come with the Outlander isn’t good. Certainly not for snow ❄️ either.
